Just been reading this. Awful lot of words to get through before the hack says that the perp is actually male.

And as for not a bad person with no desire for children, well I don't really have the words.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/03/2021 22:32

This can't have happened because it literally never happens.

TheRabbitOfCaerbannog · 25/03/2021 22:34

< Bangs head on table >

MrsMidClegs · 25/03/2021 22:36

Is all of this being added to the 'it'll never happen' resource thread?

theThreeofWeevils · 25/03/2021 22:42

Ah, we're just rushing toward the lowest common denominator. Caroline Nokes would be dead disappointed in us. Insufficiently kind reactions to the tragic plight of this - bear with me, think a word needs coining for this...

Wishingwell75 · 25/03/2021 22:59

What a weird article in the sense that it seems at pains to explain this things vile behaviour. Plenty of people have addiction issues without the compulsion to play a part in the abuse of children. How can she be described as a good person is beyond me.
I also think it's despicable to use the term child pornography, it suggests consent and I think it's used to try and normalise it. It's the abuse of children and should be called as such.

gardenbird48 · 25/03/2021 23:01

I wonder how many of these, you know, the one example they can find of a transwoman that's attacked someone will be enough for Caroline?

What is that judge on??

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 25/03/2021 23:40

It's not the first time that judge has said things like that about sex offenders.
The comment about the friends letter from Brazil was odd too, what has that got to do with them having thousands of child abuse images.

OP posts:
Thecatonthemat · 25/03/2021 23:46

And which prison will they be in?

LurkyMcLurkLurk · 25/03/2021 23:51

Even money that comments about how dangerous Brazil would be for this person are the start of a campaign to fight deportation.

irishfeminist · 25/03/2021 23:58

That judge is famous in Ireland for letting the most depraved sex offenders off with the lightest of sentences. To the point where many people have asked for his removal. I could say more about why I think he does this but I'll leave it at that.

miri1985 · 26/03/2021 00:14

The rehabilitation program that is mentioned in that article is only available in Arbour Hill which is for male sex offenders (www.irishprisons.ie/prisoner-services/treatment-of-sex-offenders/). I would assume this person doesn't have a GRC and is still legally male so hopefully they are in a male prison.

MissBarbary · 26/03/2021 00:18

“I don’t think she is a bad person but she committed serious offences and the court must punish her for her misbehaviour,” said Judge Nolan

Det Gda Allen said 900,000 messages found on the equipment were also analysed and a substantial number of these conversations were found to relate to discussing child sexual activity

Shaggervalley · 26/03/2021 01:09

That Judge ! Urgh .I can't say what I think of him on here . And yet again ,that thing that never happens . A good person ,my arse . A wicked ,dangerous man . #not ourcrimes

FromEden · 26/03/2021 01:36

That Judge

How he is still in a job I don't know. Some very dubious decisions and statements over the years when it comes to sex offenders

ExhaustedFlamingo · 26/03/2021 01:42

It's actually really unacceptable that the fact they are trans isn't mentioned until the bottom third of the article.

Sexual deviance and how it relates to biological sex is really bloody important because it's one of the reasons so many women are concerned about the whole TWAW push. People who don't read this whole article in detail are going to glance at this and believe that it's a natal woman. And as we're arguing about the difference in sexual crimes between men and women, getting the right message out there about prevalence really is so important. If people believe that there are more women committing these crimes, they will refuse to accept the very legitimate concerns over safety when it comes to TW.

jessstan2 · 26/03/2021 03:11

Oh my goodness, that is horrible.

jessstan2 · 26/03/2021 03:21

Surely she would have to have a GRC as she is married to a man. Goodness me, I wonder what he thinks of all this, if he stays with her or files for divorce.

It's dreadful and I don't feel any better for having read about it; however, like others, I'm wondering how she will behave in prison and how the other inmates will feel about having her around given that her offence is so heinous.

I do think her upbringing in Brazil is relevant because anything goes there when it comes to sexual behaviour.

ismiseeire · 26/03/2021 03:48

Wow. That is one fucked up life. Also interested to hear where she will be jailed. Where has she been held so far?

EdgeOfACoin · 26/03/2021 03:54

I believe Mumsnet allows use of the pronoun 'he' when it comes to convicted sex offenders.

Just in case anyone is struggling to use the pronoun 'she' in this case.

miri1985 · 26/03/2021 05:17

"Surely she would have to have a GRC as she is married to a man."

Same sex marriage has been legal in Ireland since 2015, so not necessarily

XXSex · 26/03/2021 06:20

I read this last night and it had the comments turned on. This morning the comments have been wiped and turned off.

“No debate”

PermanentTemporary · 26/03/2021 07:01

Helen Joyce said that stats previously recorded show 0-3 women in Ireland in prison for sex offences. I don't know what date that's from but her implication was that it was before this current situation.

This conviction would increase the rate dramatically if counted as a woman in statistics.

Things we are not allowed to ask, or know, or think about.

Woah, there is a lot to unpick in that article! WTF?!
