I'm going to email them and see what they say.

Boooooo. where will I buy my sex toys now

WeeBisom · 24/02/2021 01:30

Interestingly, for men they have "top 5 best toys for penises" and they use the phrase "people with penises" throughout. I'm actually surprised to see the men get the same treatment for once!
in the blog post for guys they say 'if you have a penis, you're likely to have a prostate too.' I wonder where they get this statistical information from, and what could possibly explain that?

Something I noticed with this 'people with vulvas' talk, is that it isn't descriptive enough. Most of the sex toys they profile are actually for vaginal use, not vulva stimulation. Of course, the most straightforward way to capture this would be to say 'the best sex toys for women', like LoveHoney had no problem doing in past blog posts (the best sex toys for women, guide for single women, etc)

SakuraEdenSwan1 · 24/02/2021 01:33

People literally take offence at anything, get over it as life is too short to be up in arms. I have a Vulva and I could not give a shit how they phrase it.

WouldstrokeTomHardy · 24/02/2021 03:35

@SakuraEdenSwan1 if you're not angry you're not paying attention

DdraigGoch · 24/02/2021 04:42

"People with vulvas" is such a long and clunky term. There must be something shorter and easier to say. Can anyone think of a simple, two-syllable word? Perhaps something beginning with 'w'.

CranberriesChoccyAgain · 24/02/2021 05:18

I might email them and ask how can I tell if I have a vulva?

NinaMimi · 24/02/2021 06:20

I wonder if they see any drops in clicks. Not that I imagine such posts get much anyway.

It’s “good” though that they treat men and women the same or sorry that should be penis and vulva havers.

Wandawomble · 24/02/2021 09:36

Ask them if a penis is a giant vulva?

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 24/02/2021 10:00

I actually feel sick reading that. Completely dehumanised. Like being reduced to the actual body part. In a weird way the language reminds me of some sort of fetish porn. Nothing female sexual energy about it. Just 🤮🤮.

Who the hell puts these things together? Which audience do they imagine they are they catering to? Cause I'm definitely not turned or inspired.

I am inspired to screw them, however. Pun intended.

CranberriesChoccyAgain · 24/02/2021 10:10

There seems to be more and more wokery every day, but I just can't see it being sustainable. I would assume a company like this relies on mainstream appeal to men and women. Of course trans or NB people would have an equal interest in sex toys, but that must constitute a very small share of their target audience. Why is there such pandering to what they keep telling us is a minuscule minority? We keep having to tie ourselves in linguistic knots so as to not offend. What the hell is it all for?

Liquorishtoffee · 24/02/2021 10:30

They’ve been doing this for a while. I got a small telling off for querying it - way before lockdown it was.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 24/02/2021 11:15

Who told you off @Liquorishtoffee ?

I'd like an answer to that question as well @CranberriesChoccyAgain

Liquorishtoffee · 24/02/2021 11:34

Some dolt commenting on the blog.

Ironically, I had another painful pelvic exam today and am not in the frame of mind to email today, but I will tomorrow.

I would love to know Lovehoney's thoughts on the cotton ceiling and same sex attraction.

AdHominemNonSequitur · 24/02/2021 15:52

The aim is to decouple the word woman from female biology, so it can be reattached to gender.

The more it is done, the more desensitised everybody becomes to it.

By saying it should be done out of kindness, and for inclusive reasons, it makes it difficult for people to articulate discomfort with it.

Bettina500 · 24/02/2021 23:27

I notice there's a section for male toys but not female...I'm sure there was before.
Either way I won't be shopping with them again.

I know someone in their social marketing team.

She’s fully TWAW.

Before she blocked me her Facebook was asking for suggestions of trans folk who might like to try LH products and write a review/article from the trans perspective.

TheChampagneGalop · 26/02/2021 10:19

Don't just quitely stop shopping there if you were a customer before, make sure to tell them why. I'm sick of this dehumanising language.
