James Dreyfus sees the light 👏👏

OP posts:

I can’t get the link to work, but he’s been a shining light for quite a while!

MaudTheInvincible · 12/02/2021 21:07

He's been out as GC for a long time, and gets lots of grief for it too. I love him.

Biscuitsanddoombar · 12/02/2021 21:13

James has been outspoken about this for several years now and sadly it seems to have really damaged his career

He’s not shutting up though! He’s brilliant

BaronessWrongCrowd · 12/02/2021 21:20

I have so much respect for James. He has been treated appallingly for sticking his head above the parapet. Big Finish won't even list him as one of the people who played the master in an anniversary special for Dr Who. All because he he won't bow down the the TRA's.

Illegible · 12/02/2021 21:22

He is most awesome and has been steadfast.

PotholeParadies · 12/02/2021 21:23

If we buy DVDs of shows in which he was in, does he, as an actor, get anything?

Defaultname · 12/02/2021 21:48

Apparently, only one comment has been allowed. Shame.

Inmyownlittlecorner · 12/02/2021 21:49

I’ve just seen this too. So much respect for him.

Its so brave for people in the industry to come out in support - especially in this climate of basically little or no work within the entertainment industry. Well done James, women everywhere will appreciate it.

SuperHighway · 12/02/2021 22:16

Takes some strength of character to make a stand in his industry. He has my utmost respect.

MissBarbary · 12/02/2021 22:26

I wish posters would stop this "Fail" nonsense when referring to the Daily Mail. The Mail regularly reports issues affecting women and children which other papers ignore.

It's also particularly helpful to James Dreyfus.

SophocIestheFox · 12/02/2021 22:38

Go James !

Selkiesarereal · 12/02/2021 22:42

He’s fab and one of the few people I follow on Twitter.

Apparently he’s homophobic as, well I actually can’t remember why, but he is - he tweeted this!

BraveBananaBadge · 12/02/2021 22:44

The only thing is this is written in a way to make him sound a bit ranty, and having listened to him on Glinner's show this week he's nothing like that. He's intelligent, thoughtful and knows of what he speaks.

Even very recently I've seen theatre Twitter behave appallingly towards not only James but anyone who even takes so much as a neutral stance towards him. It's horrible to see.

MissBarbary · 12/02/2021 22:48

I meant It's also NOT particularly helpful to James Dreyfus.

Lifeaintalwaysempty · 12/02/2021 22:59

He’s bloody brave. To put your head above the parapet publicly when it’s likely to seriously damage your career.
Thank you James! Hoping it won’t be in vain and may inspire others to speak out too.

NiceGerbil · 13/02/2021 04:12

He's been on the side of women for ages.

Love James Dreyfus!

Where can I watch gimme gimme gimme and thin blue line these days?

Go James!

NiceGerbil · 13/02/2021 04:16

He's always been awesome though.

Love you James Grin

Rhynswynd · 13/02/2021 04:22

He is particularly fab. I saw his article and a good one about Julie Bindel in the Mail today.

TheLaughingGenome · 13/02/2021 04:35

I woke up stupidly early and just had a peruse of the papers and found this. I was very pleasantly surprised to see the comments of James Dreyfus and remember him fondly from his TV programmes.

To echo a pp's point - I have a look every day at the chosen stories in a wide range of papers, websites and publications. It's interesting to see what they cover, how they cover it, and what's happening with comments. This includes the influential MailOnline.

The Mail is really problematic in terms of its editorial slant and manipulative style - look at today's anti-migrant fever - but some of its journalism on some important issues is very good. The roof may need fixing, but is a mansion of many rooms.

Norma27 · 13/02/2021 06:51

Love James Dreyfus. He takes a lot of flak for standing up for women. Like pp above, I was very excited when he followed me on twitter recently.

WomenAreBornNotWorn · 13/02/2021 06:57

It's also reassuring to see so many positive comments in the DM nodding in agreement with him.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 13/02/2021 07:37

I've never heard of him, but he sounds as though he gets it. And also well done for the DM for covering this.

persistentwoman · 13/02/2021 08:25

Sums it up perfectly - thanks TheLaughingGenome And that's a user name that makes me smile every time I see it Smile
