@CigarsofthePharoahs

How many people would have been involved making this? How many people saw this and went "OK, this is good TV for kids." (baffled face)
And how many of those were penis-owners?
WagnersFourthSymphony · 06/01/2021 17:38

Sorry, don't mean to hog the thread - but how many children watching it might have already been assaulted themselves? It's totally naive to imagine that none of them has been. Sad

TheChampagneGalop · 06/01/2021 17:41
Here is episode one. He uses the excuse while called out "But it was my dick that did it". What sort of message is that?
CuriousaboutSamphire · 06/01/2021 17:42

Woah! Really?

How is that in any way defensible?

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 06/01/2021 17:48

Quite. And now those children know that it was just fun, they're spoilsports if they didn't like it, and they mustn't ever get upset if a nice friendly man wants to do something funny with his penis ....

God almighty.

TheChampagneGalop · 06/01/2021 17:50

1:00 Woman is mad that he puts his genital in the juice. - "Jamen, det var dilleren der gjorde det" - "But, it was my dick that did it."

Stripesnomore · 06/01/2021 17:58

I cannot believe they show this on kids’ tv. What is wrong with them?

It's us. We're all on a moral panic. I've seen several posts on FB and it's full of laughing faces, even from women. We are the joyless scolds, I guess. I despair.
TheChampagneGalop · 06/01/2021 18:07

Yes, we shouldn't sexualise a kid's show centered around a grown man's penis...it's completely non-sexual Hmm

We're 'obsessed with genitals'. Shock

Erm...

Another thread on here is focused on the frequency of sexual assault. Yanno, maybe the diller isn't simply a funny dangly appendage to make jokes about. Or to normalise jokes about for children.

GingerBeverage · 06/01/2021 18:17

Is his penis touching other people? Are people having to handle this thing? I have so many questions.

Maybe the next kids show can focus on the 17 million dead fur farm Danish minks.

And what about global warming? I bet they are ignoring that too.

Thank you for your invaluable contribution to this debate.

No no! THANK YOU** Every word you write is so SO special! Just wonderful thoughts and really bringing positivity and joy to this harsh world. I simply love finding people so open to ridiculing and mocking strangers on the internet. It's a rare talent that virtually no one indulges xx

And you're right! Climate change would be a great topic for a children's show. Better than a penis man.

Cake

It would be really nice if you could explain what your real problem is with the uptight mummies.

HecatesCats · 06/01/2021 18:45

It is Hmm that one of the criticisms routinely levelled at GC feminists is that they are genitally fixated (which is incorrect and completely misses the point obvs), when we all know, as evidenced by the fact that they've finally managed to make a kids cartoon all about one, that men are utterly obsessed with their penises.

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 06/01/2021 18:48

I sent the link to this to my teens earlier. DS1s (16) reply was "No. Just No!" Followed swiftly by "why would you teach children that an out of control penis that steals their ice-creams is ok?"

ShagMeRiggins · 06/01/2021 18:51

Christ on a bike.

HecatesCats · 06/01/2021 19:06

Why indeed Phyllis?

EndemicPanda · 06/01/2021 19:45

What would an out of control 'vagina' look like exactly?

Have you seen Teeth?
m.youtube.com/watch?v=yH8yuld4DUE
Highly recommended and crucially no one has suggested it is suitable for children.

WeeBisom · 06/01/2021 19:52

Right, so he's a 'nice considerate man' because when the woman asks him to keep his dick in his pants he complies. Except he's not 'nice' because his dick shouldn't be out of his pants and noticeable to anyone in the first place. The bar is set so low for male behaviour that when they 'comply' with women's requests to keep their fucking genitals in their underwear that is seen as a sign they are a nice accountable man. Are we going to see the episode of the show where he has his cock out, and the police arrive and arrest him for indecent exposure?

BlowDryRat · 06/01/2021 21:30

An entire show for children about how hilarious it is when a man gets his penis out and it does naughty things. What could possibly go wrong? Hmm

wth?
NotBadConsidering · 06/01/2021 21:43

Funny how the Guardian recognise the story in the inappropriateness of children being normalised into seeing penises in their daily lives when it suits them Hmm.

I dunno, their article seemed rather non-committal. The most that can be said is that they raised the subject at all. Which, tbh, isn't a neutral stance, so perhaps props are due after all.
ArabellaScott · 06/01/2021 22:55

Kids and adult men's penises - never the twain.

It's fairly fucking simple. This is absolutely outrageous grooming.

Molesmokes · 07/01/2021 04:36

Posie aka Kellie-Jay disembowels Silly Penis Man!

It would be good to know what children in the target age thought of this cartoon. I thought it was hilarious and am pretty sure that I would have done when I was a kid too.

There might be men with evil intent involved but this is so silly. Could it really be dangerous?

I wonder if there might be cultural differences too. I don’t anything about Denmark but I have known a few Icelanders and they were incredibly bawdy by UK standards.

I know you have to draw a line somewhere but this is the second time recently when I’ve thought Posie was straying into Mary Whitehouse territory. For those old enough to remember MW.

I do adore Posie and I can see that I am out of step with the general feeling here - but where is the evidence that this causes harm?

I’m not convinced that a child would be any less able to tell the difference between little boys seeing who can pee highest and an adult male flashing, just because of a cartoon of a crazy man with a stripy, petrol-pump penis.

Kids love “rude” things and find them very funny and kids are not stupid. Even the most gullible child, would this put them in danger?

Do any of you remember Action Man and GI Joe dolls? One of them at least had underpants moulded on - which my friends and I thought was hilarious when we were kids. We were waiting for the dolls to come out and our brothers to get them to find out if they had willies - because it would be so funny. Sadly they didn’t, they were robotically smooth all round just like Barbie and Tressy.

If there has been research to suggest that cartoon is dangerous then obviously I will change my mind. Otherwise, this just seems like the sort of silly rudery that kids love - sort of pre-pubescent, pre-sexual smut. If anyone produced this with ill inten, I think they might be disappointed.

Rather than imagine what your kids or grandkids that age might make of it, can you imagine how you would have reacted?

The Big Bad Wolf in Little Red Riding Hood gave me nightmares when I was a child. That might be an antidote to any possible harms from Silly Penis Man?
