When are they going to admit error?
It's time this pilot ended, it should never have started but it's shown how idiotic the plan was.

This is another one of those things that we all have to keep shouting about nationally. If more people know about it, more people will say WTF, no way should this be happening. No local council has the right to give away a whole area to prostitution like this. This is happening NOW in the UK. It’s like a nightmare. I feel absolutely terrible for those poor school kids and all women living locally. Its great to see their headteacher speaking up in the news though. Everyone should be hearing about this. It’s horrific.

TheQueef · 10/11/2020 08:15

I'm shocked at how many don't know.
I can see this being rolled out nationwide as a success of there isn't more objections.

That's such a horrific article. And I'm so pissed off that although there's an occasional mention of "girl" or "she" it's mostly "pupil this and school child that". No BBC its girls this is happening too, no boys are being harassed and intimidated on their way to school. Absolutely disgraceful that this is allowed in our supposedly civilised country. And a good example of why I will keep fighting to end prostitution even if you could prove to me beyond doubt that every single "sex worker" really super douper loved her job and was truly choosy choosy choosing to do it. Yes clearly women in prostitution are the most affected and the most at risk but it doesn't just affect them and it never did. Treating women as objects to be bought, sold, and used for male dominance and gratitification affects all women and all girls and policy maker need to start accounting for that. We are all stakeholders in this discussion and especially the poor women and girls forced to live in or near that actual area. Absolutely disgraceful.

Leeds City Council's deputy leader Debra Coupar said safeguarding was its highest priority.

🙄 Is there a MN thread about Leeds? This might be a good place to link it.

No incidents that are reported will ever be ignored.

No incidents that are reported will ever lead to convictions, not even openly acknowledged abduction and rape. Terrific that the authorities in Leeds are not ignoring the problems reported to them, perhaps they've even got a junior staff member employed to carefully write down incidents and file them in the big round file, but you can't solve a problem by "not ignoring" it, actions are required.

Whatwouldscullydo · 10/11/2020 08:25

Screw you bbc. All "students " " pupils" and the first time sex is even mentioned its about a teenage boy Hmm

Its a dreadful idea. Why do we need a managed zone to not prosecute women who are being drugged and pimped out.

Why does the access for men to a shag trump the safety of children.

Close the bloody thing. Spend the money on helping the women get out and away from their pimps and off the drugs and tell the men to have a wank

TheQueef · 10/11/2020 08:27

The series is still available www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/p04cq5w8/sex-drugs-murder
I challenge anyone to justify this managed zone after watching any episode.
Choose any. They are all outrageous.
It's obscene.
Those poor women.

I don't understand why the population of Leeds en masse don't demand to close this down. It's completely indefensible.

Aesopfable · 10/11/2020 08:41

Or EHRC take Leeds CC to court for sex discrimination?

Gurufloof · 10/11/2020 08:45

I have banged on about this for years now, on a previous thread I noted that I think my emails to MPs are now ignored, my letters to newspapers are rarely printed.
I asked everyone on that thread to email hilary benn
Email:[email protected]

And the Yorkshire evening post
[email protected]

And to my knowledge not one article or letter about it has been printed. Although I dont read it religiously.

On another thread I hoped for a concerted effort to keep this in the minds of those who make the decisions but naught came of that.

BirdsRoundandRound · 10/11/2020 09:17

Omg I had no idea this was even a thing? This is so fucked up - a legal area for clearly drug and alcohol addicted women to be abused for money by predatory men??

I would be devastated if my child had to see that on the way to school every day, potentially from only 11 years old.

Why are the 'rights' of men (in this case to buy sex in a sordid way) again and again put above the safety of women and children??

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/11/2020 09:24

And the council consider its been such a roaring success that they're planning a second zone in East Leeds Hmm

ChattyLion · 10/11/2020 09:41

The local MP, Hilary Benn and the Labour Party should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. I am sorry you have had so little traction Gurufloof. Don’t lose heart. More and more people will hear about this all the time and be horrified.

I’ll email Hilary Benn, let’s see if I can do clicky links

I agree it seems to be court cases that get shit done at the moment but social media pressure is needed too.

No joy on the links Confused

SunsetBeetch · 10/11/2020 09:47

Jesus christ

littlbrowndog · 10/11/2020 09:49

Makes me feel sick

I have read the reports on it and it is just inhuman

Men coming from hundreds of miles away

Close it down

CaraDuneRedux · 10/11/2020 09:57

This has been going on for years, we've been posting threads on it for years (I remember one about the murder of Daria Pionka within months of the clearly not "safe zone" being started).

Women have been grabbed off the streets and raped by punters, no woman or girl of any age is safe in Holbeck. Meanwhile the council commissioned a group of tame academics (Leeds Uni? Leeds Met?) to produce a whitewash job in which they failed to interview any local residents (there was a thread recently).

I want to know how many local councillors are (a) punters themselves and/or (b) taking financial kick backs from the local pimps.

Leeds is as corrupt as corrupt can be, not just the council but WYP too. Red Riding increasingly looks like a fly on the wall documentary rather than fiction.

CaraDuneRedux · 10/11/2020 10:07

Thanks Sunset - extremely useful to have them collected in one place.

Angryresister · 10/11/2020 10:41

When are men going to stop with their justification for exploiting women?...it doesn’t matter to them who or when. And all those making money from pimping and drugs. Boys must learn early on that this is not an activity open to them. And neither is it a career choice for girls.

Angryresister · 10/11/2020 10:42

Yes thanks tosunset for collection of links. But our voices are clearly of no value.

TheQueef · 10/11/2020 11:48

Out of sight out of mind.
Provided no leafy green suburbs are sullied no one will care.
Worthless women can be abused, bought, sold as long as it's the worthless ones.

Disgraceful.

I live near an unofficial ignored area.
The street walkers aren't the worse of it. So many times a car will meet a punter and exchange money for a female. It's very clandestine so I assume under aged or trafficked.
Hiding in plain sight.
The addict being bent over the bonnet is unremarkable now.
