It would appear from Twitter that in the wake of the latest Rosie Duffield pile-on they’ve decided to throw their hats in the ring...

Too many tweets to link or screenshot but their profile is here.

I first voted Labour in 1970. If I still lived in the UK I'd have a real quandary. The disconnect with real voters is almost unfathomable.

AngeloMysterioso · 05/10/2020 22:48

@Abhannmor I am truly politically homeless. I have always said that I would only put an X next to a Tory candidate’s name on a ballot paper if someone was holding a gun to my head (especially in the constituency I used to live in where Iain Duncan Smith is MP) but a Lib Dem vote isn’t worth the paper it’s written on, Green have yet to atone for their “non-men” bullshit and this is the sort of crap Labour are throwing up. I can’t in good conscience offer my support to any party at the moment.

Siameasy · 05/10/2020 23:10

I’ve a feeling they could do even worse next time around. Labour are fucked.

Shedbuilder · 05/10/2020 23:17

I think some of us are going to have to stand as independent women's candidates to take votes from Labour, spread the message (because we'd get some airtime and publicity) and steak votes from Labour to stop them winning and imposing self-ID. As a former Labour voter who would only vote Tory with a gun to my head, I see this as the least-worse option. In Wales, which is still Labour dominated and where the Labour leader is sticking to the self-ID party line, it will be particularly important.

wonderstuff · 05/10/2020 23:22

They're not just chucking women under the bus, they're making Labour unelectable. Do they honestly think red wall voters are going to come back to a party debating whether men should be allowed to be women?
It's looney left metropolitan elite PC gone mad stuff.
Labour need to get control of their social media.

Suffrajester · 05/10/2020 23:26

We're in a pandemic, workers are taking strike action to get even the most basic of health and safety measures at their jobs, people are struggling to keep a roof over their heads and feed themselves since being laid off, and THIS is what Labour groups are doing? We don't have the luxury of sitting around talking about our pronouns or anything like that, the biggest workers' rights struggle for a generation is happening and we need the labour movement now.

Kantastic · 06/10/2020 00:35

I still hope Starmer is waiting his moment. The more people learn about transactivists and other wokists, the more they revile them, so why not wait for more people to know and loathe them before making any move?

However, he had better not take too long.

I used to think that if I were in Starmer's position I'd be quietly biding my time on this issue. The internal party politics must be fucking insane to manage.

But if there's a woke tipping point coming it would be a good idea for Labour to get out ahead of it. Make a big show of pulling up all the rot by the root. And don't leave it too late! Do it at a point in time when it's going to feel cathartic for people,, like an act of bold leadership. Not at a point when the tide has already turned and it will just seem like desperation.

I don't know if they were hoping to try to sort things out quietly, but Labour cannot sweep the wokists under the rug. They have irrevocably tainted Labour's brand and there is going to have to be some kind of public renunciation of the woke side for the party to ever be trusted again.

NiceGerbil · 06/10/2020 02:44

Not great with Twitter but had a look.

What is fascinating and awful is that a person who said, I'm a transwoman and I disagree with this

Did not get respect for gender ID.

Only certain people get their internal ID respected.

It's kind of terrifying.

RutlandRose · 06/10/2020 07:43

The Labour Party depends upon young voters at elections, they don't share the prejudices about minorities seen here on mumsnet. You are talking in an echo chamber.
For a balance d report see here.

None of you are politically homeless, you have the Laurance Fox party.

😂😂😂🤣 iys a cold wet morning here so thank you for the laugh

Prick news balanced article in the same sentence

Yes I’ve voted Labour all my life but now I’m a right wing bigot because I don’t think men can become women 🙄🙄🤪🤪🤪

Langsdestiny · 06/10/2020 07:56

Oh bless you rutland. To think that bigotry of all kinds does not exist in the labour party.

Milicentbystander72 · 06/10/2020 08:15

Ruttlandrose would that be the much prophesied 'youthquake' that was going to definitely happen at the last election?

Don't be too sure outside your own echo chamber. I have 3 neices 18, 22 and 25. The 18 is a LGBT (a lesbian) who has already realised that the T stuff is stamping all over her rights. The 22 and 25 yr olds are pretty feminist and very unimpressed by Labours stance on this.

Also my own older male gay friend who generally support Labour view this issue as a 'problem' for them when happily putting their cross on the ballot paper next to the labour candidate.

Quadzilla · 06/10/2020 08:25

Balance? Pink News? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

KatVonlabonk · 06/10/2020 08:27

Crying!! 🤣

teawamutu · 06/10/2020 08:27

Foul little bastards. Chilling to think these self-righteous shitweasels will be in the workforce before too long.

Bring on the MN Party because fucked if I'll vote Labour under these circs.

testing987654321 · 06/10/2020 08:28

It's not a bad article actually. Highlights that lots of student Labour clubs think they should silence a woman MP in a fairly conservative area.

I also hadn't read her tweet before making fun of the fact that she hasn't learnt her lesson. I can only assume that she isn't worried, which is good.

StandWithYou · 06/10/2020 08:29

Balance????? Pink News??????

Grin Grin Grin

You should do stand up!!

teawamutu · 06/10/2020 08:39

Balanced article in Pink News.

Bless you, Rose, you sweet summer child.

raddledoldmisanthropist · 06/10/2020 08:44

I heard quite a lot of young people discussing this issue and 90% think it's bollock like the rest of us (doubtless skewed somewhat by me being northern and working class).

The only two transsexuals I know think it's bollocks like the rest of us.

The only people who believe this are Butlerian Jihadis and while it's doubtless a fast growing and influential new religion it's still a tiny minority.

raddledoldmisanthropist · 06/10/2020 08:48

I still hope Starmer is waiting his moment.

He picked a working class, middle aged disabled woman for his shadow equality minister, who spent her life working (as opposed to 'doing activism') for disabled women's rights.

I'm sure the Butlerians were shocked when she criticised the law society over ignoring EA single sex protections but there is no way Starmer was.

This comment tells a user to fuck off, which is against mumsnet's rules for posting.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 06/10/2020 09:18

What children? We're all adults here.

And it really isn't all that wise to try telling a lot of amused, poilitically aware women to 'be nice'.

And what would you like to discuss? You didn't ask any questions. You pronounced upon us and we laughed right back at ya!

Pray continue...
