It would appear from Twitter that in the wake of the latest Rosie Duffield pile-on they’ve decided to throw their hats in the ring...

Too many tweets to link or screenshot but their profile is here.

Oh my poor insulted one! Did you meant my post? No, I didn't tell YOU to fuck off! Read it again...

... did the cap fit?

Ah, tone policing. Always a winner in any discussion. 😄

RutlandRose · 06/10/2020 09:23

As I say you are living in an echo chamber, the government LGBT + survey says quite differently, especially amongst the under 35's.

@RutlandRose

The Labour Party depends upon young voters at elections, they don't share the prejudices about minorities seen here on mumsnet. You are talking in an echo chamber. For a balance d report see here. www.pinknews.co.uk/2020/10/05/rosie-duffield-transphobia-labour-whip-withdrawn-maya-forstater-lgbt-heather-peto/ None of you are politically homeless, you have the Laurance Fox party.
Nope, I have the Social Democratic Party thanks. First time I've ever joined a political party. Which reminds me I must actually get moving and do some volunteering for them.

sdp.org.uk/policies/transgender-and-biological-sex-based-rights/

Policies:
Transgender individuals wishing to change their legal sex should be allowed to do so. However, we support the continued necessity for medical gatekeeping in any legal change of sex marker. We oppose proposals that would allow someone to change their legal sex by self-identification only.
We support segregation by biological sex in sport. Fair competition is not secured if male-bodied transgender athletes are permitted to compete in women’s sport and, in the case of contact sports, the risk of injury can increase significantly.
We support segregation by biological sex in prisons and womens’ refuges in order to safeguard the safety and privacy of natal females. Separate prisons or prison accommodation should be provided for transgender citizens to ensure their safety and privacy.
Healthcare spending and resources for gender dysphoric individuals, including long-term psychological intervention, should be provided at sufficient levels. Physical or drug-based medical treatments for gender dysphoria should be prohibited for anyone under 18 years of age.
We support the retention of biological sex and gender identity as distinct categories in public sector data gathering such as crime statistics, poverty metrics or public health research.
We support the use of plain English for discussions of biological sex in health and reproductive care.

Labour chucking women under the bus?

And this happened in Leeds you say?

Well, well...imagine.

OMG! Really? That survey? The one that has been picked apart here a few times. You see this supposed echo chamber is full of women who do research, some of us for a living, others to make sure they don't quote uninformed crap. That means most opinions are informed and those who aren't can be sure they'll get a lot of well reviewed information.

That's why I know all about that survey. Many posters took part in it. Yes! Posters here are L B G and T!

So, what is being said differently ? What, specifically, are you referring to?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/10/2020 09:40

As I say you are living in an echo chamber

None of us live on Mumsnet. We speak to other people on a daily basis. Yes, including about this issue.

PattyPan · 06/10/2020 09:43

I’m young (25) and was involved in labour students when I was at uni and the trans stuff was starting to creep in then. We originally had committee posts reserved for women, but then it evolved to being for people other than cis men. I too feel politically homeless, I was thinking about that yesterday. I’d never vote Tory obviously because I consider myself left wing. I would really rather not vote Lib Dem either because I paid £9k tuition fees. I live in a fairly safe Tory constituency so may just spoil my ballot next time Confused

You win the Internet today. Balanced report in pink news, OMG that’s hilarious.

PronounssheRa · 06/10/2020 10:17

Pink news, balanced. 🤣

And you say we are in an echo chamber.

Kit19 · 06/10/2020 10:27

Most people still think TW = Hayley cropper from coronation street or jan Morris or Paris lees

They think it’s someone who’s had a fuck ton of surgery & hormones

They don’t think of the Alex Drummond’s or yanivs or Gabrielle’s of this world

I'm under 35, dear heart.

Very pro L, G and B, not so keen on homophobic transactivists, though.

raddledoldmisanthropist · 06/10/2020 14:28

@RutlandRose You are talking in an echo chamber.

If you ask 2 MNers about any topic you will get at least 6 opinions, MN is the very opposite of an echo chamber.

That said I agree that we do get disappointingly few people arguing coherently for the Butlerian view of Gender. If you think that makes it an echo chamber on this issue, change it.

I'd be happy to do a thread with you to explore these issues in a civilised way. Feel free to PM or @ me if you are interested in an actual discussion.

billydilly · 06/10/2020 15:36

Dd started at Leeds last week, is a Labour member and has just joined this very society. She's also massively GC and gobby. Should be interesting

highame · 06/10/2020 16:11

Just so I don't feel left out - Pink News and balance in the same sentence 😂

Please clarify what your point is that you are making about this survey please? How does it relate to what you 'suppose' is an echo chamber here?

merrymouse · 06/10/2020 16:23

The Labour Party depends upon young voters at elections

The last election demonstrates that they cannot do without their older voters.

That said I agree that we do get disappointingly few people arguing coherently for the Butlerian view of Gender. If you think that makes it an echo chamber on this issue, change it.

Agree. Long running pro and anti Brexit threads. Pages and pages on parking disputes. Yet nobody seems to be able explain why sex is irrelevant. I wonder if there is a clue in the site name?

teawamutu · 06/10/2020 16:39

I don't think Butler argues coherently for the Butlerian view of gender, does she? Hardly fair to ding MNers for it Grin
