So JKR can expect an apology any day now then?

Along with Maya Forstater, Rachel Rooney, and every other woman (and some men) that were bullied, dragged through the mud, deplatformed, etc for saying the same things that Mermaids are now saying?

Hopefully the screenshots have attached, but look at what JKR said compared to Mermaids. Any real difference in their words? Nope, the difference was in the way they were treated for saying the same thing. JKR got threatened with death and rape, accused of harming trans people/children and was subjected to the nastiest hate campaign I've ever witnessed whilst everyone stood back and watched, and some encouraged. When Mermaids said it, they got a pat on the back, and suddenly everyone has been saying this all along?

Liz Truss's statement 2 days ago was praised by someone who has been very against JKR. JKR could have written Liz's statement, they made the same points, yet Liz was applauded by this someone, JKR not so much.

Rachel Rooney's book aimed at children called 'My Body Is Me' was labelled 'terrorist propaganda'. The aim of the book was to help children accept and understand their bodies. To teach that no one is born in the wrong body. Why was she vilified if everyone supposedly agreed with her?

Maya Forstater's has been wildly misinterpreted. She lost her job and people are contantly accusing her of transphobia because she believes that biological sex is real (something that shouldn't even need classifying as a 'belief'). Her reputation has been damaged by people not willing to read what actually happened, and she has to deal with ignorant people on twitter regularly, falsely claiming that she deliberately mis gendered a colleague that didn't even exist. Everything Maya has ever said has been true, and confirmed by Liz Truss.

I'm just really fucking angry at the way women have been treated for stating the fucking obvious, and now these gaslighting fuckers get to change their tune and no one bats an eyelid??

Everyone involved needs to hold up their hands and apologize, but I'm not holding my breath. That would take integrity and a conscience, something seriously lacking today.

So JKR can expect an apology any day now then?

I share your fury and indignation.

ColleagueFromMars · 25/09/2020 19:34

I'm speechless to see that tweet from mermaids. Seems very unlike them!

FireUnderTheHand · 25/09/2020 19:35

I have noting to add but great OP.

Totally agree.

Kdubs1981 · 25/09/2020 19:36

Have they been hacked?!

Glenthebattleostrich · 25/09/2020 19:37

The backpedaling on twitter is exhausting to watch. Apart from the labour party.

But strangely while there's lots of ' oh no you misunderstood what we meant' and even more 'noooo we didn't say that' there have been a distinct lack of apologies.

napody · 25/09/2020 19:37

Totally agree. Hope all the various screenshots and archived statements get some attention. I hope it's just a sign that Mermaids are shitting themselves.

DrizzleandDamp · 25/09/2020 19:38

Jesus

Sexnotgender · 25/09/2020 19:39

I shan’t hold my breath...

persistentwoman · 25/09/2020 19:39

I'm waiting for the Stonewall apology to Transgender Trend for smearing their school guidelines and calling them transphobic... drums fingers.....

ARoombaOfOnesOwn · 25/09/2020 19:41

Does Susie Green still work there? How can they seriously tweet “leave them alone” knowing her family history?

Chicchicchicchiclana · 25/09/2020 19:42

I think, and always have thought, that there should be prosecutions for the hate speech directed towards GC individuals on social media.

Littlefiendsusan · 25/09/2020 19:44

As with many things in life, the messenger can be as influential as the message.

LizzieSiddal · 25/09/2020 19:46

Agree, these women deserve full apologies and Maya should be reinstated.

And Prick News should be joining the queue for issuing apologies.

Imnobody4 · 25/09/2020 19:48

Do you think Susie Green's days are numbered? She's now a liability for an organisation wanting to maintain it's position as a reputable educational/health charity which Improves awareness, understanding and practices of teachers, GP’s, CAMHS, Social Services and other professionals.

Sadly, women aren't covered by hate speech. What I find shocking is that the police went after Kate Scottow for being rude, but leave those individuals posting death and rape threats to gender critical women alone. How does that work, then? I don't for one second believe none are based on these shores, so why are they immune? That goes beyond hate speech, as it's clearly making threats. And anyway, hate speech wasn't the charge for Scottow, was it?

The police are far from even-handed to say the least. That needs addressing, too.

Venicelover · 25/09/2020 19:51

I fully agree.

Fromage · 25/09/2020 19:57

Mermaids can start with apologising for that apostrophe.

yourhairiswinterfire · 25/09/2020 19:58

@Kdubs1981

Have they been hacked?!
No, it's their reaction to the Department for Education's new guidance for schools. Mermaids have done a spectacular u-turn, and transactivists have all turned their gaslights on.

There's a thread with a screenshot of the DfE guidance here.

I have been wondering if she'll be thrown under ths bus.

Yes, the same Transgender Trend that were deemed worthy enough by a judge to be allowed to intervene in Keira Bell's case, but rejected Mermaids and Stonewall.

Bet that hit them where it hurt.

OP posts:
Mammatino · 25/09/2020 20:10

100% agree. The violent language and threats that are casually thrown around on Twitter should be prosecuted, or at least some kind of consequences other than a ban or a block. They get away with it so they think it’s ok to say it. How that translates to their views about violence in real life is anybodies guess. Watching the shite spilling from these people now would be laughable if they hadn’t have caused such damage. Accusations against GC that they had to say “wrong bodies” as it was the only way to access medical treatment from an ignorant white medical establishment. There’s a podcast with Owen Jones and Josie Long slagging off Liz Truss and blaming GC for bullying and frightening everyone into submission, Jesus the lack of self awareness is astounding.

SunsetBeetch · 25/09/2020 20:11

Robert Webb deserves an apology too, for the drubbing he took for criticising Mermaids.

yourhairiswinterfire · 25/09/2020 20:23

How that translates to their views about violence in real life is anybodies guess.

When Women's Aid eventually found the time to condemn the abuse, they said the abuse of women in public life is linked to the abuse of women in private.

I often wonder about the women in these people's lives. They obviously have nothing but contempt for us and hate being told no. Doesn't bear thinking about.

So JKR can expect an apology any day now then?

PenguindreamsofDraco · 25/09/2020 20:29

Glinner deserves a bloody sainthood. He and JKR have been the highest profile casualties I would guess, although that is not to dismiss one iota the probably greater cost the lower profile and therefore more vulnerable people have paid.
Has Jonathan Ross commented yet? His retraction annoyed me more than I can say.

rednsparkley · 25/09/2020 20:36

I won't hold my bloody breath but I do hope that lots and lots of damming screenshots will come back to haunt all the gaslighting, double-crossing, lying, shit-stirring Trans Cheerleaders
