What's behind the Mermaids backpedal?

I've seen lots of allusions in Tweets on this to government contracts and implications that the volte face is financially motivated - are they only referring to the Self ID ruling (which seems rather tangential to the 'born in the wrong body' line)? Or is there a more tangible financial threat?

Not to my knowledge, but in Susie's TED talk she talked about how Jackie Green had him 'wrapped around her little finger'.

I doubt she would have used that expression about one of her sons.

Oops sorry early post. What I was going to say is that if Mermaids have nothing to do with schools the DfE might need to ask for their money back as apparently they paid £35000 for Mermaids to provide training into 35 schools. I guess that could be last years grant that hasn’t been renewed so there is no ongoing training?

However, considering their enormous volte face on their position and the reasoning they give surely they have an obligation to provide corrections/updates/complete retractions?

Don’t they have lottery, pudsy bear and amazon money too? And Starbucks, Emma doodah... who else has trumpeted their donations?
