Boris says that they said they will respond over the summer and that's what they are going to do

I hope the delay means the response will be thorough, well written and of course puts the brake on the current madness. My wish list would include a review of Stonewall and Mermaid et al influence and an investigation into how they have such a hold when they seem unaccountable and their programmes unregulated by any sort of safeguarding (please feel free to correct me if I have got that wrong)

I hope so too - they were clearly not very thorough in the run up to this, as can be seen in the Miller Report. I hope they take the time to fill in the missing information.

Do you think that they are waiting for court cases to come up? There are a lot of them.

Stonewall et al will have been pulling out all the stops to lobby her with their most emotional stories interspaced with the nice line in veiled threats they have. I imagine she's under huge pressure to cave in or rerun the consultation

God, i can't cope with this. Have a horrible feeling they're going to backtrack on the backtrack.

I think if there's a delay it's to absorb a fair few things:

1. The change to the NHS guidance on the use of Lupron etc as allegedly 'temporary puberty blockers'
2. The Baroness Nicholson's intervention
3. The Rugby decision and its repercussions for all women's sports
4. Impending court cases centering freedom of speech

And yes

1. The trans machine pushback

And

1. Where the actual votes are
2. What the law is
3. What the law needs to be

When does the summer recess start? Was it today? If so my guess is it will wait til after the summer break. I do t think it's a good sign. There has been a big effort by trans activists to get people emailing their MPs and we know there are people withing government, and especially within the civil service who want the gra reforms to go through, and want the stonewall interpretation of equality act to be the only one.
If they are waiting for court cases they will be waiting a long time. I tho k we have to keep the pressure up. Our side just don't have the same lobbying inroads that the other lot do.

I think the summer recess starts on Thursday. Liz Truss is taking questions in the house on Wednesday so I’m told, so maybe she’ll make her announcement on Wednesday morning?

I agree though, all the delays don’t fill me with confidence.

Trans Actual have tweeted that her announcement will be delayed-I just wonder if this is true and if so, how to trans Actual know before the general public?

There has been no official word on a delay so at this point it would be speculation. She is due to speak on Wednesday, as Whatisthisfuckery said upthread, and there are a number of questions already tabled.

There is a full cabinet meeting tomorrow and that may be when it is decided whether to go for it on Wednesday or not.

I think women have waited long enough. Time to speak out and hopefully put an end to this nonsense.

I am horrified to hear what is going on in the States where if pyschs deviate from the 'affirmation only model' for trans youth it can be a criminal offence. (the Joe Rogan and Abigal Shrier podcast is great on this).

There are so many trans orgs for so small a minority group

its astonishing how the most vulnerable group in society manages to have MPs quaking in a way that women, people with disabilities, people from black and minorithy ethnic communities, carers etc never seem to be able too....

Surely the transitioning of minors is the very definition of gay conversion therapy. Safeguarding of children must be prioritised over grown mens feelings. I just don’t understand why Lizz doesn’t make an announcement now-think of the harm being done while she dithers & delays....

The only updating this Act needs is the recognition that it is no longer needed now that single-sex marriage is legal. As Danny Kruger MP recently stated, the state has no business getting involved in people’s gender, but it does need to recognise that the biological sexes are both real and different. The update that is needed is for it to be repealed.

Danny Kruger is right but the global trans movement will implode if they repeal the GRA. I'm pretty sure Truss would be aware of the fallout and I doubt the current Govt has the guts to do that. Also - the logistics regarding who already has a GRC - how would that work?

It is, but the trans community see conversion therapy as therapists challenging children with gender dysphoria?

But yes I'd argue in many cases transing kids is gay conversion therapy.

The GRA is a piece of sexist shit.

Trans boys and trans men and the primogeniture exemption ... funny how we don't much about that from the TRAs.
