Does anyone know what has merited this vow to educate herself? Can’t find what she’s referring to!

@FantaOra

Trans activists are all from the same stable as Harvey Weinstein when it comes to the acting profession. Suck my dick or never work again.
Absolutely.
RoyalCorgi · 19/07/2020 19:15

It's really worrying. I seem to remember that she left Twitter before because she retweeted something mildly gc (maybe in support of Maya?), received torrents of abuse and then just left. It's reminiscent of all those people re-educated under Chairman Mao. Chilling.

She's reasonably well-known - was in Sherlock and a few other things. Used to live with Martin Freeman.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 19/07/2020 20:07

Absolute bastards they are. They get off on hounding and threatening women into capitulation.

LemonSqueezy0 · 19/07/2020 20:17

When will this end... I will fully support her in anyway I can but can't help feeling so frustrated and impotent.

xsquared · 19/07/2020 22:05

Much like coercive control and psychological abuse.

I fully support her but I know why she gave in.

teawamutu · 19/07/2020 22:24

And the sad thing is, it'll never be enough. She can abase herself all she likes but she'll still be a filthy TERF to them.

Look at the Guardian - TRAs cursing it for promoting transphobia for printing one Suzanne Moore column and one 'er, maybe we should talk about this' editorial amid a slew of unquestioning woke allyship.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 19/07/2020 23:06

Shes clearly been told that she wont work again

I didn't know who she was, so I googled. All that comes up in the news is stories about the threats she's received (baseball bats/barbed wire).

There are certainly situations where I would be compelled to chant TWAW, put it that way. I hope that the threats have been investigated and taken seriously by police. And I hope she has plenty of support around her.

rabbitwoman · 20/07/2020 09:51

Wow.

Did a quick twitter search for Amanda abbington.

She apologised, she grovelled and these are the most recent tweets :

'Not so friendly reminder that if you're not trans you can't decide if we forgive Amanda Abbington or not.'

'never thought i’d be crying over amanda abbington being a terf but here i am. how fucking disappointing'

'if you stan amanda abbington you're gonna have to unfollow me sorry'

No wonder people are scared to come forward.....

rabbitwoman · 20/07/2020 09:53

I have to say, though, Ricky Gervais looks like he might be teetering. Probably just waiting for the Emmys then I reckon he will be all guns blazing....

highame · 20/07/2020 10:19

Is anyone else feeling a real dislike for the entertainment community?

I find the absolute arrogance appalling. Not only the whole attitude of moral rightness but the Bristol statue was a case in point. A sculpture thought he had the right to come along and put up a statue without any consultation. so arrogant

Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/07/2020 10:24

I doubt Amanda will either - because, you see, they can make us say that transwomen ARE women, but they cannot make us believe it.

As long as they can make you mouth the words, they are content. That is a demonstration of their power, after all. But they know, and they will never forget. Expect it to be brought up every time you say something that even tangentially is suspect.

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 20/07/2020 10:27

the sculpture was fab
it was only up one night.

CaveMum · 20/07/2020 10:29

I’d imagine that the Sherlock fandom contains an awful lot of right on woke folk (much like the blue haired Harry Potter brigade), so she’s probably more in the firing line than a lot of actors.

highame · 20/07/2020 10:33

the sculpture was fab
it was only up one night.

I agree but that wasn't the point

KetoIFWinnie · 20/07/2020 10:36

Wow, looks like she tried to challenge the nonsense and was bullied out of it.

And as a pp says, she is not so big that she isn't cancellable.

This is shocking.

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 20/07/2020 10:41

i dont believe the sculpture was arrogance, he is an artist.

BigBadVoodooHat · 20/07/2020 10:48

I have to say, though, Ricky Gervais looks like he might be teetering. Probably just waiting for the Emmys then I reckon he will be all guns blazing....

Let’s hope so. Like JKR, he hasn’t got the same financial/employment considerations that keep others gagged, and we all know which way he leans on this issue 🤞

KetoIFWinnie · 20/07/2020 10:52

hope so!

highame · 20/07/2020 10:53

@CrowdedHouseinQuarantine

i dont believe the sculpture was arrogance, he is an artist.
The sculpture itself wasn't arrogance. It was the fact that he thought he had the right to place it without any prior consultation.

He was interviewed and he came over as arrogant, I didn't realise arrogance was part of the job description for an artists but come to think of it...............

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 20/07/2020 10:57

@highame

*the sculpture was fab it was only up one night.*

I agree but that wasn't the point

Artists break down the barriers. history shows this. do you think Banksy is arrogant?
CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 20/07/2020 10:58

however, back to Amanda Abbingdon.
shame she has been gagged

ValancyRedfern · 20/07/2020 11:00

Is there a way I can send her my support? If she's off twitter what would be the best way to contact her?

BaronessBollyKnickers · 20/07/2020 11:02

I sometimes wonder who gets to decide why a Banky is art. But other wall paintings are not.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 20/07/2020 11:03

AA is an excellent example of how coercion, threats and intimidation work online.
Trouble is - as we have seen with so many totalitarian movements - they don't succeed in the long run. They always fail to silence dissent - it just moves it all underground until the critical mass explodes. But of course at much cost to individuals - especially women.

BaronessBollyKnickers · 20/07/2020 11:03

Sorry bit of a derail there. Yes, will follow the A.A. story with much interest.
