You can add your name to the growing list.

That is an excellent letter. Hopefully the Booker Board will come out of hiding and do the right thing this time.

bump. The list is twice as long as it was yesterday. Some big names on there, and writers coming out of hiding.

It's just been covered in the 7am news on the Radio 4 Today programme. Starts at 7.07am.

sultanasofa · 06/07/2020 07:24

I was just coming on to say that! A pretty brief mention. No real coverage of the issues - taking the slant that DB had led the movement to oust the Baroness because of her vote against gay marriage, and that since then it has emerged that he had written some unsavory tweets. Very coy when it came to details. No mention of the Baroness supporting JKRowling, women's sex-based rights etc and the part that this may have played in subsequent events.

Binterested · 06/07/2020 07:29

Signed.

I'm hoping the Times takes it up. Some big names on there. They have now added achievements (shortlisted books etc) to the top signatories.
Many have been on Booker shortlists. But there are many women who have won who are NOT there and their absence is striking.
I don't expect much from Margaret Atwood, as she is Canadian, but....
not naming names.

If you are having trouble signing (maybe because you are not on wordpress you can ask Jane to add your name, either through Twitter (@blablafishcakes) or Facebook (Jane Harris, writer). She will do it manually for you.

There are now almost 1000 signatories. It should make the Times. Fingers crossed.

an excellent letter - hopefully will convince them to do the right thing

Collidascope · 06/07/2020 10:59

Sally Wainwright and Susan Hill on there. That's made my day.
