Sorry I can’t link but worth a read.

We need a gaslighting emoji

WanderinWomb · 01/07/2020 13:25

Good lordy me.
The twisting Darvo and misrepresentation continues.

MB gets way to many column inches.

nauticant · 01/07/2020 13:26

It comes across as: "Perhaps we can meet. Grovel enough and we'll see."

I couldn't do it. Maybe the Baroness can.

Cismyfatarse1 · 01/07/2020 13:26

Working class parents? I remembered privately educated.

Also, the "harm" could easily be exemplified through actual crime but harm in that women are fearful.

Love all the pornified shots of MB. Never knowingly photographed in anything other than page 3 mode.

Sexnotgender · 01/07/2020 13:28

Did Bergdoff not go to a private boy’s school? Or am I mixing them up with someone else?

I got bored about 1/3 way through that drivel.

AbsintheFriends · 01/07/2020 13:30

Me too. But as this article amply demonstrates, Munroe never met a fact they couldn't manipulate to suit their narrative.

Sexnotgender · 01/07/2020 13:31

Not just me remembering the private education then!

SerenityNowwwww · 01/07/2020 13:35

I’m not even going to bother. I can imagine it’s all ‘victim victim poor wee me’.

Yeah victims. That’s why google were pushing a template letter to sent to liz truss. (Duck duck go everyone)

ThinEndoftheWedge · 01/07/2020 13:37

Haven't read it - but surely anything MB says brings welcome light??

working-class parents - nice, but obvious fudge there.

Doyoumind · 01/07/2020 13:37

I can't be bothered to read it either. It's irrelevant.

larrygrylls · 01/07/2020 13:44

Ummm, the bio on Wikipedia seems to suggest Munroe (not getting involved in pronouns here) went to a comprehensive (Bishop Stortford School in Essex).

It does seem that Baroness Nicholson was needlessly hurtful calling Monroe a ‘weird creature’. I wish intelligent people with real lives would stay off Twitter, it never seems to end well.

However, she should have apologised for being cruel and kept her job, identity politics has a lot to answer for.

AbsintheFriends · 01/07/2020 13:48

Whatever your position on this debate issue I don't think that sort of weapons grade passive-aggression and performance piety reads well.

BovaryX · 01/07/2020 13:50

Well said!
Apileofballyhoo · 01/07/2020 13:50

I read the first few lines and gave up.

Kit19 · 01/07/2020 13:52

the pearl clutching from MB over the weird creature comment after the way they have behaved by you know demanding women stop centreing their biology on IWD would be laughable if it wasnt being so indulged by everyone

the baroness is in a no win situation with this one - meet MB and she'll get nowhere plus MB will weaponise it - 'i tried to educate the old TERF', dont meet MB and the baroness will be a hateful bigot who wont even meet TW

AbsintheFriends · 01/07/2020 13:52

(*debate/issue - the / went missing)

Some of Munroe's own work, directed at women, here:

Crawl, womxn! I am more vulnerable, more abused, more powerful than you!

"Nonetheless, I believe that calm, honest, generous conversation is the key to progress... I don’t bear grudges..."

hmmm

BewaretheIckabog · 01/07/2020 14:02

I cannot believe anybody could still be saying that Baroness Nicholson’s letter to Asda was wrong and transphobic. One does not need any background in safeguarding to see how appalling the content was.

TRAs are doing themselves no favours on that one.

MB does acknowledge casual homophobia can be harmful.

Hasn’t MB been on the wrong side of both child safeguarding and casual homophobia?

OP posts:
Prinstress · 01/07/2020 14:03

“I fear your letters to Marks and Spencer, Asda and a number of official bodies and Government ministers, constitute a campaign to restrict trans lives.”

Is this in relation to the letter Baroness Nicholson wrote to ASDA pointing out they were recommending books about children performing sex acts to school students?

SerenityNowwwww · 01/07/2020 14:05

Yes - who do so many people who tell us again and again that they are women refuse to acknowledge that women need single-sex spaces?

If you don't 'get it' you need to ask yourself why you think you know better for women.

ShagMeRiggins · 01/07/2020 14:18

...comments we make in the past should not be considered a permanent stain on our characters...

Mmm hmm. Hmm

BewaretheIckabog · 01/07/2020 14:19

Anyway it’s the first front page for the Evening Standard’s new editor and she has a picture of Kendall Jenner in her undies taking up half the page. Obviously a big fan of serious hard-hitting journalism.
