They will not rest until every disobedient woman is purged from society.

I see Disgusted of Manchester got the memo about claiming "nobody has ever said sex isn't real".

Lamahaha · 26/06/2020 15:10

[quote rogdmum]Has anyone posted this? Not directly relevant but someone on Twitter dug it up and I remember the story when it happened- just hadn’t connected the Baroness of today to it!

So very moving! Thanks for posting this.

I say it again but this whole thing is about power not about change.

Both DB and Munroe Bergdorf will have semis from the drama, and will be secretly or outwardly titillated by the fact that they had enough friends in high places to rally around for this woman to be ousted. This is about them and their power, profile and careers, not about the issue itself.

Dreeple · 26/06/2020 15:26

I had never heard of the Baroness before she said things about gender. Now I follow her on Twitter.

The same may apply to many people like me, especially since her “sacking” made the papers.

boatyardblues · 26/06/2020 15:37

@Lamahaha

I’m a middle aged woman with no daughters,

You have son(s)? You might have granddaughters one day!

I have one daughter and two granddaughter and for them I must fight on. Also another one on the way, could be another girl.
But I get that some people are just so exhausted they want to give up. It's two steps forward, one back sometimes.

Yes, or want a female carer to do your personal care in your dotage. We all have skin in the game in perpetuity.
SerenityNowwwww · 26/06/2020 16:11

Or have a mother or mother in law (or even aunties or granny). Or female friends or acquaintances...

Cuntysnark · 26/06/2020 16:28

Rogdmum. Another sniveller.

Lamahaha · 26/06/2020 16:57

How does one get the image of a tweet from twitter, to post here? Sorry, I'm a tech dinosaur but always willing to learn.

SerenityNowwwww · 26/06/2020 17:02

Take a screenshot and attach it into a post?

JemimaShore · 26/06/2020 17:03

You can take a screenshot, Lamahaha, and then upload it like a photo. How you do that depends what device you're on.

maudavery · 26/06/2020 17:42

I'm sure stonewall were opposed to, or ambivalent, towards gay marriage 10 years ago. So was Barack Obama. And so was
Hillary Clinton initially.

Douglas Murray writes about this in the Madness of Crowds and Nicky Morgan's
U - turn on it

This. 99% of the TA/Genderist stuff is a power play.

RoseOfDawn has an interesting youtube vid about MB and their modus operandi...

7Days · 26/06/2020 22:37

Oh my gosh, Amar's story.
A scarred war orphan, who was rescued as far as any human can rescue another, and who finally got to meet his mother and brother again.

My God. The world is full of unimaginable suffering. And people who actually help. Some people do make the world a better place.

chipperfish · 26/06/2020 23:36

So can we make a list for DB of prominent and currently serving MPs, Lords and people in public life that DB wants to retrospectively punish and have censured for voting against same sex marriage seven years ago? or for their actions over section 28 and its reforms?
I suspect it will be a fair list for him to get through, and wonder whether he will attack the task with the same zeal as he showed in his enthusiasm for having the Baroness smeared and 'cancelled

AskDan · 27/06/2020 07:02

Sorry .. I did skim RTFT but I couldn't see it.

What would be the best way to contact the Booker prize?

mstrotwood · 27/06/2020 07:56

I just saw this entry on her wikipedia page:

'On June 25th 2020, Nicholson was stripped of her title as honorary vice president of the Booker Prize following homophobic, racist and transphobic comments.'

The reference is Pink News. Surely this is not right ? What were the racist comments ?

SerenityNowwwww · 27/06/2020 08:00

Well wozzit news and Wikipedia - those two bastions if truth...

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/06/2020 08:10

She was very dignified.
SerenityNowwwww · 27/06/2020 08:22

He was exactly what I expected. There is definitely a ‘type’ of man isn’t there? A nyaff we’d say in Glasgow.

boatyardblues · 27/06/2020 08:30

Just listening back. The Booker guy painted himself into a corner, basically admitting they cancelled her because of Twitter reaction.

littlbrowndog · 27/06/2020 08:38

I will listen to it

What a wonderful caring person the baroness is

I follow her on twitter.

The people she has helped

I can’t believe that 2 people campaigned against her and the booker bowed down straight away

justanotherneighinparadise · 27/06/2020 08:46

Anyone can edit Wikipedia. So some TRA has edited the transphobia comment.

SerenityNowwwww · 27/06/2020 08:54

Only because others wouldn’t stand up to scrutiny. What a weasel. Didn’t cover himself in glory did he?
merrymouse · 27/06/2020 08:59

It seems so.

Mark Damazar kept mansplaining to Mishal Husain that her introduction falsely linked Baroness Nicholson to the Booker because of her honorary title. MH had to explain twice that the introduction linked Baroness Nicholson to the Booker because of its history.

He claimed that the action was taken because of Baroness Nicholson's tweet about MB, not because they were accusing her of being homophobic, transphobic or racist, which conflicts with their statement. As Baroness Nicholson said, when you distance yourself from somebody and then say that you aren't homophobic, racist or transphobic, you are clearly saying that they are homophobic, racist and transphobic. I think the linguistic term is a 'contrast clause'.

(He is probably having to back pedal frantically on this, because David Willets)

Its also clear that despite his claims, he hasn't paid any attention to what Baroness Nicholson or JKR have said if he honestly believes this is just about restricting spaces to biological women.

I'm suspicious that the person demanding the removal of the Baroness was the American sponsor.
