I never liked Marlon James, what I read of and about him -- there was something extremely misogynistic about him. Seems my instinct was correct.

He seems to still have Jamaican nationality, although living in America.

Marlon James is actually Jamaican and grew up in Jamaica. That's the culture he professes to identify with -- or once did.

Fuck only knows. His words don't make any sense. Just seems to be random anger, splurged out at any older woman he deems unsatisfactory.

It's quite clear that by cancelling her on this issue they can disregard her entirely from all other issues. They will point to this and say it is unacceptable to deal with a known homophobe and as if by magic all the criticism of self id and puberty blockers can be ignored. Cancel culture at its most sinister.

This is how they've been trying to frame it I think. Rather than what it actually is - a Baroness taking part in a democratic vote in the House of Lords - along with many others - many years ago.

It's another campaign of misinformation.

Are they going to root out every Lord who voted against it? No of course they're not.

I am finding it hard to see through the red mist on this one. It's my industry and I'm sickened by the pandering and the virtue-signalling hypocrisy, and my own inability to say anything.

To be openly ageist and sexist seems to be the new way of signalling wokeness.

Oh, gosh, who would have thought it. Sounds lovely and definitely makes sense. This is a man who denounces as a 'hate monger' a woman who has spent a lifetime working for the assistance of women and children.

Absinthe, I hear you. My industry too, or used to be. It's horrible watching it dismantle itself like this. It's almost like somebody had planned the best way to quell freedom of thought and speech.

They can't actually cancel her though. Sure they can get a few orgs like The Booker to distance themselves but ultimately she's a life peer so they're stuck with her.

Now maybe a concerted effort will be launched to do away with the HoL. A lot of people don't agree with the system.

For God's sake, Patrick Gale too. Another gay man and one of the few male authors I liked, but he decided to stick the boot into JK Rowling when she first tweeted, and here he is again now.

This is how it is now. Mass pile ons organised through twitter and complaints everywhere until women are removed, deplatformed, unemployed etc. And their voices silenced on twitter which is where all this crap starts. Time to move off twitter. Get on to parler. It supports free speech, women can talk and organise, and the power these individuals have through the backing of twitter will diminish. Hopefully as parler takes off twitter will be a thing of the past.

I used to like Patrick Gale too. Oh well. It's become less and less surprising to me that men I previously thought were liberal-minded and progressive turn out to be raging misogynists.
