Flic Everett retweeted it with a "worth reading" and admonished The Body Shop.
Sunny Hundal retweeted with "Really worth reading in full" and Sathnam Sangehera retweeted it
Those are three that I haven't seen comment before.

ScrapThatThen · 11/06/2020 20:34

Thank you to our journalists and thinkers. Long may we have free speech, democracy, a fair legal system and strong journalism. I was starting to think all four of those were looking a bit wobbly.

Ginkypig · 11/06/2020 20:39

Yes he seems like a comfortable in his skin gay man who just is quietly living his life but won't bend his beliefs or opinions to what he doesn't think is right or ok whatever the fallout of that may be.
I must say I'm quite pleased as I liked him anyway.

Fairenuff · 11/06/2020 20:49

A year ago this would have been unheard of. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all those publicly supporting JKR and, of course, women all over the world.

JKRowlingTransExplosion · 11/06/2020 20:51

James Dreyfus is great on Twitter, and pretty vocal about how he feels the TRA movement is homophobic. He follows me for some reason - I’m absolutely nobody and rarely tweet, but I must have said something once that he liked!

Snapespeare · 11/06/2020 20:51

Shelagh Fogarty, LBC journo has retweeted Janice turner, said that she disagrees with Radcliffe and condemned the Body Shop.

She's on just after professional woke James O'Brien, I can only imagine their handovers. 😁

Not sure what his position is, I can't bring myself to listen to his head tilting.

TheRattleBag · 11/06/2020 21:39

Is anyone on else slightly scared to hear what their favourite people in the public eye might think on this topic?

I'd be really disappointed to think that people I admire might be on the woke bandwagon. I'm not even going to mention who in case someone pipes up "oh they're really woke" and ruins my week even more!

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 11/06/2020 21:55

James Dreyfus' Twitter is brilliant, just had a good few minutes looking through that.

I know exactly what you mean, rattle. This is the first time I've ever been pleased Terry Pratchett is no longer with us. As sad as I am, still, that he died too soon, it would break my heart if he was on the twaw train. I don't think he would have been, but god, it would be absolutely shattering for me.

TheRattleBag · 11/06/2020 22:31

SirSamuel I'm sure Granny Weatherwax would have given short shrift to any TWAW nonsense! Grin

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 11/06/2020 22:39

I fucking well hope so!!!

Nicky Clark.
(I confess I don't know who she is- I saw some of her tweets because someone I follow liked them- but she has a blue tick so I'm assuming she is someone in the public eye with a voice.)

Stephanie Merritt has posted quite a bit in support.

Thank you to everyone mentioned here.

It’s mind boggling that one has to be incredibly courageous these days in order to actively acknowledge biological fact and material reality.

AntsInPenzance · 12/06/2020 12:55

I got banned from Digital Spy forums for sticking up for Rowling and saying men can't have periods!

How is this statement of biological fact considered transphobic? I don't think any trans men are actually claiming they can menstruate, are they?

I'm a (straight) man and I recognise that my thoughts and presence in this debate is of a lesser value than womens' because I'm not effected by it, but for what it's worth, I just wanted to pop in and say that I stand next to you in support of JK Rowling and sanity.

Ants your stance is just as valid and important, albeit in a different way. We desperately need men to openly and publically engage directly in this fight, to stand with us and declare they know and understand and will protect the rights of women, girls and vulnerable young people of both sexes. Please discuss with as many male friends and family members as you can.

hoodathunkit · 12/06/2020 13:03

Just wanted to send my support to JK Rowling

I will be in touch one way or another very soon to show my support in a more concrete way.

In the meantime have some flowers

Robert Webb has tweeted to highlight the hypocrisy of those expressing their faux-outrage at the s*n headline. Not out-right support for JK Rowling, but looks like he's prepared to dip his toe into the debate after previous attempts...

VortexofBloggery · 12/06/2020 16:29

Thanks for that Freespeecher.

Freespeecher · 12/06/2020 18:20

More from Nawaz. He normally deals with 3 topics on his weekend LBC show so it's quite possible the JKR affair could be one of them:

Oliver Burkeman - I wondered if he would, he's been outspoken on this before:
twitter.com/oliverburkeman/status/1271489146201296896

"The misogynist abuse directed at JK Rowling from across the political spectrum on this platform is just staggeringly awful, and by rights should be a watershed moment for Twitter, which is structured so as to reward people for engaging in it."
