MNHQ want money from us

JellySlice · 08/04/2020 15:26

Perhaps now is the time to tell MNHQ what we want from them.

eg
Relaxation of the anti-women censorship rules.
Reinstating banned respected posters like LangCleg.

If you hate the FWR thread so much then why do you read it?

If you hate the 'FWR mafia' then why don't you avoid it?

R0wantrees · 10/04/2020 10:05

The trending feature doesn't tell you which board, just a completely generic title that you don't know is another trans thread until you click on it.

Another thread discussing the impact on women's sex based rights, Safeguarding of children / Vunerable adults, freedom of expression etc?

BringbackLang · 10/04/2020 10:05

If you say there is hate and disgusting threads then why don't you post evidence of such threads or comments?

Binterested · 10/04/2020 10:12

Wotcha is hilariously transparent.

I’ve had periods of hiding FWR when I feel I can’t watch the dismantling of women’s rights any more and have to switch off and do something else. It’s easy to do. And there’s nothing on trending to drag you back here that isn’t obvious. All the thread titles are ‘Pink News....’ or ‘Rapists in women’s jails...’ or ‘Another blinder from Janice Turner...’

It’s perfectly obvious what they are about.

I wonder which other boards Wotcha is this prolific on.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 10/04/2020 10:12

Don't think I've ever used the phrase FWR mafia think you must be mixing me up with someone else Confused

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/04/2020 10:13

If I found myself being somehow tricked or lured into reading a thread that it turned out I didn't want to read I'd just close that thread. Unsure as to why others can't do the same, little X at the top right of the page not working for them perhaps?

TinselAngel · 10/04/2020 10:19

Yes that's the sensible approach kittens, rather than say, staying on the thread doggedly for a couple of days and filibustering it to 1000 posts, thus increasing its chances of appearing in "trending" etc.

PertEllaTitsahoy · 10/04/2020 10:21

Oh look, more deflecting Hmm

Autonomy & personal responsibility are desirable/essential traits in any adult community.

BringbackLang · 10/04/2020 10:30

Didn't say you did.

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 10/04/2020 10:39

I deregged my long standing account after Jeff and the other data breaches.

This account uses a throwaway email that I don't want linked to my real identity.

OP JellySlice asked:

I have wondered how much extra staffing & associated costs (including economic choice) has been caused through the implementation & subsequent application of additional rules to FWR board.

Datun · 10/04/2020 10:53

nauticant

At the time of Emma Healey and her malicious data leak I was struck by how non-transparent the handling was by MN and how consequence-free it was for her.

Looking at the responses on the Mumsnet-Premium-membership-please-support-us thread it's becoming clear that this is going to cost MN. How ironic.

Indeed. It appears to be the number one issue for most people. It certainly is for people on FWR. I don't think HQ took either the issue seriously, or people's reaction to it. They are very blasé about it and the subsequent determination of women to avoid giving personal details

Daten

I am unsure about this, given all the issues raised here.

Hi Daten, I wonder if I could ask you to change your username? I see it's a new name, or you're a new poster. I wouldn't normally, but it's exactly the same as mine, bar one letter, and I suspect could cause confusion.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 10/04/2020 10:55

I noticed the daten datun thing too, wondered if was same person!
Definitely confusing

NotBadConsidering · 10/04/2020 11:03

Almost as confusing as your presence on a forum you hate and try so hard to avoid Wotcha Confused.

Datun · 10/04/2020 11:05

I've a feeling it will end up not being the slightest bit confusing, to be perfectly honest!

🤣

Dyrne · 10/04/2020 11:12

I agree with the MN response to the Emma Healey thing. Even just one’s posts yesterday seemed irritated that people were bringing it up again; and brushed the IP inclusion aside as “tiny writing at the bottom of the page”. As if people weren’t crowing on Social media specifically about making MN users “lose their anonymity” and the fact that Emma made such a point of having screenshot the posts while logged in as an Admin - the only difference in the posts between an Admin and a regular user (or even with someone with no account at all) is the ability to see IPs.

I remember there being discussion at the time on how Emma must have some sort of ties to one of the staff - family or family friend; due to the weirdly personal nature of the defence that Justine was doing - seen again yesterday.

Dyrne · 10/04/2020 11:12

Urgh. Justine ; not Just one.

How much for that edit function again? Grin

DuchessDumbarton · 10/04/2020 11:13

Saw that Datun and wonder if it's deliberate?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/04/2020 11:17

I still wonder if Emma is someone at MNHQs niece or something tbh, I don't know of any company that's normally that protective towards their interns. It all comes across as very "what a silly girl" rather than "this person came very close to getting us into serious trouble and made us look terrible".

DidoLamenting · 10/04/2020 11:18

Of course it is deliberate.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 10/04/2020 11:21

So datun says could cause confusion, I agree and there's still sniping?
WTFs that all about lol

WeetabixBananaHipsterFFS · 10/04/2020 11:21

For somebody so inexperienced, and with her track record, our Emma seems to be doing very well for herself.

R0wantrees · 10/04/2020 11:28

It was a 'childish & unprofessional' error of judgement made at the beginning of a career. Mea Culpa, lessons learned etc

(Healey's blog which falsely claimed to 'prove' that MN were calling for 'a new Section 28' shared widely by those in influential political positions. This false claim possibly referred to as fact by Dawn Butler MP in HoC)

PertEllaTitsahoy · 10/04/2020 11:29

Has no one freed Willis yet?
