Is that Ellie from Educate and Celebrate in the second image?

" Trans-inclusive LGBTQIAP+ groups and solidarity campaigns including London Bi Pandas, #LwiththeT #BwiththeT, #GwiththeT, Muslim LGBT Network, The Gay Liberation Front, Queer AF Brighton, Voices4London, Transmissions, Educate and Celebrate and many more, instead stood together chanting powerful messages of solidarity, firmly rejecting these views and associating them to dangerous forms of hate speech dressed up free speech."

I thought charities couldn't be political?

From that article 'As attendees finally left the building, protesters stood in silence and strength, demonstrating a firm presence of peaceful opposition, and in memory of those siblings we have lost to transphobic violence. '

That is the most incredible rewriting of that evening. If peaceful opposition means mask wearing people moving to stand in front of mostly women leaving a meeting, in the dark, with loud chants, filming them, firing off camera flashes into their faces while they have to be warned of what to expect by stewards and protected by police then wow - I do not want to see their violent opposition

Lordfrontpaw · 11/03/2020 17:28

Why wrote that? Sheesh talk about rewriting history with you as the hero! But we have photos and video as if 300+ eye witness accounts wasn’t enough.

Little twerps. I really want to know who pink willy man/woman is. His/her mum (or dad, let’s not be sexist here) needs to have a word.

Violetparis · 11/03/2020 17:34

Imagine the outcry from Labour MPs if Tommy Robinson supporters had let off flares near Grenfell, they'd be all over Twitter. If even just one Labour MP would speak out I might cling on to the hope that all is not lost with the party.

Lordfrontpaw · 11/03/2020 17:40

A slight rewrite is needed I think ?Mills & Boone edition)...

Love and Peace in the face of pure Evil I’m W12

As the evil brood finally departed the building, en masse they moved, black as the night. They mounted their broomsticks with their machine guns strapped to their backs, as the small, brave band of protesters stood in silence and strength, weeping silently as evil words of literal violent and bullets rained down on them.

Tears not for themselves but for their fallen comrades, cut down in their tender youth by words. They stood, chests out, chins held high, and heads bowed as they stood tall and took the knee...faces covers in despair and desperation... in a silent demonstration, showing peaceful opposition in the face of such pure evil.

To the memory of the fallen! Huzzah! We will never forget! Huzzah!

We're not gonna sit in silence, we’re not gonna live with fear, Oh, whoa, oh whoa, o - w-hoa.

As an arch of baseball bats bejewelled with barbed wire posies was held high as the smoke of peace and a few doves were released, signifying joy and love to all nations!...”

I’m beginning to almost like (some of) the Daily Mail. They really don’t give a 🐒

Lordfrontpaw · 11/03/2020 17:56

I’m not able to post a comment. It would be dreadful if someone posted a link to a tweet with the photo of the pink willy masked cruiser.

littlbrowndog · 11/03/2020 17:59

Lordfront paw

Did Dawn Butler turn up to give them a rousing speech? Grin

Lordfrontpaw · 12/03/2020 00:06

Did you like that bit? Grin

Datun · 12/03/2020 04:46

Wow, the daily mail isn't pulling any punches, is it? Perhaps someone's pissed them off.

WhatKatyDidNot · 12/03/2020 08:30

Exactly. I wonder just how many parliamentary seats the party needs to be reduced to before it has the courage to confront this.

Lordfrontpaw · 12/03/2020 09:08

Show people today - let people see. Has anyone has tweeted Billy Brag?

Socrates11 · 14/04/2020 19:52

I'm not a Labour voter but #Solidarity with Labour Women's Declaration & WPUK and LGB Alliance for holding this excellent meeting to tell Labour to listen up, recognise & fight for Women's rights or #Expel Me.

This link is to the Labour Women's Declaration webpage and you can see all of the great speeches. It's hard to pick favourites but Lucy Masoud, Kiri Tunks and Julie Bindle are quality speakers.

Socrates11 · 14/04/2020 19:54

And Selina Todd & Lachlan Stewart! Nearly said everyone now 😆

I0NA · 14/04/2020 21:52

And I see there are transcripts of the speeches here, for those of us who are hard of hearing / prefer to read.

Charities absolutely can be political. What they can't be is party political and tell you who to vote for. They also can't make political activity their central purpose.
