George Galloway says he will take on the transgender lobby

I'm not exactly a fan of Mr Galloway and also think his language in this tweet is typically self-absorbed - not sure he appreciates that many people have been fighting this fascism for years now.

But what is interesting is the responses (to this and several other pro gender critical tweets he's written in the last few days). His followers are the far left, red-rose-in-the-bio Corbyn supporting Marxist and working class-identifying people who've typically provided the phoney support that has helped the transgender lobby grow so quickly. But they're almost entirely in agreement with Galloway - and it feels like he's enabling them to speak out about this.

I wonder: is this irrelevant?; will the literal communists who bang on about trans rights without ever believing anything they've said now be more quiet?; or even are we witnessing the start of a civil war over this issue among the 'far left'?

Not a fan of him - but bloody hell he does throw himself 100% into things. He’s not someone that will be intimidated, and will come out swinging.

Now this is the type of Scottish male I recognised from growing up - no nonsense, totally un-woke, principled, outspoken... god knows what they are putting on the water these days.

George just discussed this with Sonia Poulton on RT.

Had a look at his twitter feed and noticed this article he has shared.

Lordfrontpaw · 07/03/2020 10:05

There isn’t really a suitable swear word for these people is there. The first few that come to mind are pretty female-based. strange isn’t it?

Igmum · 07/03/2020 10:10

Excellent. Loved all the positive comments (though it is very frustrating that when women say this they are vilified, when men say it, it's spot on). Still, shed more light.

Lordfrontpaw · 07/03/2020 10:12

Is he on twitter?

tegucigalpa13 · 07/03/2020 10:13

George Galloway - gender critical.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Mockerswithnoknockers · 07/03/2020 10:16

It's the Churchill on Stalin argument: 'If Hitler invaded hell, I would at least make a favourable reference to the Devil in the House of Commons.'

Maybe this is pragmatic, but be in no doubt about Galloway and his role as an RT stooge. Putin actively seeks to cast feminism as a threat to Russian values, and has promoted the bill that effectively legalises domestic abuse so long as no cuts or scars result.

Galloway's comments about Naz Shah can never be unsaid. It would be an insult to scum to compare him to that by cmparison fine principled substrate.

Thingybob · 07/03/2020 10:37

Brilliant Sonia, you got so many points across

The interview started at 9.30 for anyone wanting to watch.

Glad he encountered Sonia so she could fill him in

R0wantrees · 07/03/2020 10:42

not sure he appreciates that many people have been fighting this fascism for years now.

As Filia have tweeted,
"those people are feminists!"

Also very recently been discussing the impact of trans ideology on policy:
Anne Marie Waters
Tommy Robinson recent 'Heart of Oak' speech
Carl Benjamin anti-feminist YouTuber aka Sargon of Akkad

I presume Nigel Farage will be joining/hijacking the discussion this weekend?

DidoLamenting · 07/03/2020 11:50

Naz Shah is a nasty piece of work too. I don't believe her that she didn't realise her comments about Israel were anti- semitic until it was pointed out. If that is true she must be extremely thick.

I also don't believe the vile tweets about girls in Bradford and "necklacing" were re- tweeted by accident.

Lordfrontpaw · 07/03/2020 11:53

Was she the one who blamed her sister (ah the old ‘my sibling stole my twitter account’ defence)? Or was that bother politician who posted bile and got away with it?

Languishingfemale · 07/03/2020 12:32

I noticed this on that Galloway twitter feed from yesterday's Scottish Sun:

ListeningQuietly · 07/03/2020 12:47

Galloway is a Putin poodle.
He does what he is paid to do
which is stir things up
the fact that this bit of stirring is "good" does not make it "a good thing"

Needmoresleep · 07/03/2020 12:56

We will know when the tide is turning when all sorts of people pop up claiming not to believe in gender ideology.

The key question. Where were you two to three years ago?

Unusualsuspicion · 07/03/2020 13:03

Oh god, with friends like that...

JudyGemstone · 07/03/2020 13:05

The real left have always been gender critical, it's Labour, the centre left who aren't.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/03/2020 13:18

The real left have always been gender critical, it's Labour, the centre left who aren't.

I'm not sure the current momentum mob are 'centre left' - but neither do they seem to be 'real left' . However, it's been noted before that the Morning Star has published a few pro-women pieces.

Beamur · 07/03/2020 13:40

I was just going to say about the Morning Star. I think the Communist Party are also GC.
We're in that zone where left meets right.
Strange days.

FloralBinting · 07/03/2020 13:41

We really need to get to grips with the reality that the traditional terms 'left' 'right' 'liberal' 'progressive' 'conservative' etc. are all shifting ground now.

We are dealing with the meaning of words shifting so that they no longer mean the same thing, hindering communication and IdPol, where people claim labels and identities with no grasp or understanding of what the labels are meant to signify.

Oh, and Galloway is a total bellend and I'll be content to wrestle on without his 'assistance'.

DidoLamenting · 07/03/2020 13:44

Oh ha ha.

Needmoresleep · 07/03/2020 13:52

A snippet from a review in the New Yorker of the new book by Thomas Piketty:

"The most interesting findings in the second “Capital” come from his forays into political science. He argues that the “Brahmin left”—the most educated citizens and the greatest beneficiaries of the knowledge economy and the supposed meritocracy—has captured the left-wing parties in Western democracies, distracting those parties from their mission of improving the lives of working people. Conservative parties, meanwhile, are under the sway of the “merchant right.” Such polarization makes debate over redistribution impossible, and so the lower classes debate immigration and borders instead."

I like the phrase "Brahmin left". London is full of them.

Needmoresleep · 07/03/2020 13:53

And yes easier to push gender and similar equality initiatives than to actually talk about the widening gap between the rich and poor across the West.

NotTerfNorCis · 07/03/2020 13:54

Good for him.
