Attacks on Glinner on MN today - clearly his 2 articles today have been effective!

Lots of attempts to shoot the messenger today.

Thanks, Glinner for both articles, which are clear and helpful introductions to the issues to those new to the topic.

Thanks for writing them, donating your fee to WPUK and for all the shit you've taken for supporting women.

MN seems overrun tonight - clearly Glinner's articles have worried some.

Poota · 09/02/2020 21:36

Omg, can you stop? Have you heard yourself? Maybe pause and ask yourself of it really fits on the Feminism and Women's Rights section of Mumsnet to be having a pop at the feminists objecting to the swooning over the heroic man who has saved us all™️

Good grief.

janehathaway2 · 09/02/2020 21:38

I agree with @PootaPoota. You sound like a conspiracy theorist. Women are allowed to have legitimate critiques and to discuss ideas freely without being read as being infiltrators of the board or whatever you've been implying.

Apollo440 · 09/02/2020 21:40

Thanks glinner.

midgebabe · 09/02/2020 21:41

Naw, there is a definite thing on here

If a man does something supportive, there will be people trying to find ways to discredit him , the discussion trends to character trashing

And it gets worse if a woman does something, people trying to pitch feminist against feminsit

No one can ever make a mistake or say a wrong thing or change their mind

I just blank it as best I can

happydappy2 · 09/02/2020 21:43

Glinner, you are so in the right for wanting to safeguard children from transitioning, which they are too young to understand.

Anyone who speaks out In defence of children deserves a thank you.

BringbackLang · 09/02/2020 21:45

I, for one, am grateful to Glinner for sticking his head above the parapet. Thanks Glinner!

Redshoeblueshoe · 09/02/2020 21:48

Well as a regular reader on here, and occasional poster I have no idea of what you are talking about Blush

Qcng · 09/02/2020 21:49

Omg, can you stop?

I must have missed something?
Stop what?

The Daily Mail is one of the most widely read online newspapers in the world.

I's wrong to be pleased an article supporting women has been published?

I really don't get the problem.

Redshoeblueshoe · 09/02/2020 21:50

BGrinut I love Glinner, if that helps

Strangerthantruth · 09/02/2020 21:51

This is bizzare. Every day, every press or media mention gets threads. This Sunday is no different, people chat about the media reports and thank the person who has been quoted and interviewed. When its a man we all get accused of swooning and fawning. Fecking hilarious. You are a bunch of sexist fools for calling women swooners and fawners.

Poota · 09/02/2020 21:53

Yes, yes, the only possible reason to be anything other than fulsomely grateful to the nice man is because I'm either a TRA agent or one of those nasty, unreasonable feminists who are spoiling everything for the nice, kind ones who show proper deference to Glinner and Hayton and all those wonderful men who have offered to speak for us in this.

Please. I'll stick up for any woman who puts herself on the line in this, as many, many women have. Glinner can have a thank you, and then we can move on. And this can be a board to discuss feminism without accusations of infiltration towards feminist posters who have been here for bloody years and simply object to men being feted as saviours.

xxyzz · 09/02/2020 21:53

I support anyone, male or female, who is risking their reputation and career to support women's rights.

And I'm a bit suspicious of those who seem suddenly keen to attack men who do so. Or women who appreciate it.

It's not a competition or a zero sum game. Women who fight for women's rights - also fantastic. I'm also grateful.

See I don't see the praise as much different to that about JKR a few weeks ago. A persons sex should not matter

Mossyrock · 09/02/2020 21:58

I have noticed this trend as well OP.

When gender critical people speak out I applaud them. That's basically it, for me. The stakes are so high that I don't particularly care who gets the message out. Glinner seems to be good at it. Good for him.

Should he just shut up instead?

It's really quite sexist to accuse women of swooning and fawning over a bloke because we happen to share the same views.

Poota · 09/02/2020 22:00

A persons sex should not matter?

in what context? In being the centre of attention on a feminist message board? What could possibly be the difference in discussing JKR's input Vs Glinner's? Could it be their respective sex, and the fact that feminism is about liberating women and amplifying their voices?

Nah, that can't be it. Must be something else.

midgebabe · 09/02/2020 22:04

Centre of attention ? Or being recognised for doing someth8ng that they didn't have to do, that may cost them that is supporting women ?

Perhaps only women should be allowed a thread and men's actions no matter how useful must remain a footnote? Like do unto a man what patriarchy did to women?

Poota · 09/02/2020 22:04

This is FWR. It's not Twitter, or Facebook, or the comment thread under the article. It's not the 'Gender critical' board. It's a feminist board. The fucking cheek of saying that the feminists objecting to the lauding of a man who has done the decent thing of speaking up when bad things happen, but has also some very not feminist views, are doing it for anything other than feminist reasons.

Poota · 09/02/2020 22:05

What patriarchy does to women. It's an ongoing project.

In being the centre of attention on a feminist message board?

The threads thanking glinner would have moved down very quickly if it wasnt for all the moaning about it!

Sorry but it just comes across as plain old sour grapes. The posts I read seemed to say things like "thank you" not " all praise the most glorious"
