Native American was the one protected group one could not just assert membership in, because that membership is governed by tribal registries.

As I understand it she was claiming ancestry, not tribal membership. Membership is quite specific, it's a political designation that means you derive certain very specific benefits. Only a portion of people identified as Native American in the census have tribal membership. It used to be just over half though I don't know if that's still accurate.

Like most politicians she'll do anything to attract voters. Check out the hilariously awkward "I'm gonna have a beer " in my kitchen stunt.
She used to be republican and her voting record shows how she will roll with the political wind and do and say whatever it takes to get to where she wants to be.
Now this just happens to mean hitching her horse to the Transwagon

Bill Maher talked about this with his guests on Real Time, including a Democrat congresswoman and a Democrat commentator.

Their comments were interesting but also cowardly.

They all agreed that she's gone too woke to be electable and has become a bit of an embarrassment, but on the trans issue they all concluded that Democrats simply shouldn't talk about it as it makes them look crazy, but all refused to explore why it might make them look crazy and all refused to talk about the impact on women's rights

Now obviously it is a lie but why does she thinks anyone would be impressed by it.
