I always thought even in the Blair years, even though they can get workers from the EU to work in London restaurants (as example), how the hell do they manage to live on the low wages given the cost of living. I think it was mostly because they lower their standards of living and many come as singles people without family. Something the uk working class people cannot do or not prepared to do.

Yes, that's why it works. People will live in dorm like facilities, etc.
