Boy George slammed as ‘transphobic’ after mocking pronouns as a ‘modern form of attention seeking’

No compliance is ever enough.

GeordieTerf · 10/01/2020 09:10

I’m not a fan of Boy George given his violent past, but this did make me smile Smile

EwwSprouts · 10/01/2020 09:12

Made me smile.

PinkNews reached out to Boy George’s management, who replied: “The concept of […] asking whether Boy George is transphobic is so stupid it doesn’t warrant a response.”

The only thing I like about Pink News is that they choose to print people's replies verbatim, however insulting they are.

See also the time they asked Julie Bindel for a comment after she was attacked at Edinburgh University:

'When asked to comment, Bindel declined to say whether she had filed a police report against Brennan but told PinkNews: “I despise your woman-hating, anti-lesbian rag, and would rather give Donald Trump a massage than speak to you.”'

  1. Boy George is transphobic
Sexnotgender · 10/01/2020 09:24

That’s a great listGrin

Fieldofgreycorn · 10/01/2020 09:28

Agree with him on this. Also anyone who’s read his autobiography will know he’s not transphobic.

It’s a bit rag to a bullish though isn’t it? Pronounitis is primarily a young person’s fad. How easily he forgets what an attention-seeking thing he and his contemporaries were when he was younger. No point in taking on the younger generations like this.

notmoresheep · 10/01/2020 09:30

@Sexnotgender your liking it is transphobic.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 10/01/2020 09:30

He was probably too busy chaining men to his radiators to answer anyway

Yes, quite.

acatcalledjohn · 10/01/2020 09:30

115. Not tweeting about corsets is transphobic.

Well, that's me told.

AutumnRose1 · 10/01/2020 09:32

“ How easily he forgets what an attention-seeking thing he and his contemporaries were when he was younger.”

Attention seeking how? I don’t recall Boy George or Marilyn trying to anyone to change policy across public organisations and workplaces etc. Attention seek in the media as much as you like.

Sexnotgender · 10/01/2020 09:34

Apologies @notmoresheep off to the gulag I’ll go

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 10/01/2020 09:35

Oh dear, BG accusing other people of attention seeking.

HandsOffMyRights · 10/01/2020 09:37

Need to add JK and Emily Maitlis to that list now along with detransitioners.

BruceAndNosh · 10/01/2020 09:37

It's all arse about tit. (local vernacular for wrong way round)
In the eighties, people like BG, Bowie and many others broadened the idea of what it is to be male. Ditto Alison Moyet refusing to conform to what the pop industry wanted from a "girl"

But now ridiculous stereotypes are being reinforced. You can't be a feminine man, you must be a woman (and a real woman to boot). Everyone must be put in little labelled pigeonholes as regards their presentation and sexuality. Being Gender Fluid and Pansexual is a label just like the others even though it's masquerading as being woke and progressive

HandsOffMyRights · 10/01/2020 09:40

Terfblocker added BG to its list ages ago, alongside the likes of Asda and (if I recall correctly) Dunkin' Donuts.

Those holes in doughnuts are phobic.

LangCleg · 10/01/2020 09:40

Are people on this thread basically saying "ok boomer" to Boy George?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

FWR - the gift that keeps on giving.

My mum worshipped Boy George. Wouldn't hear a word against him. Even when he was being a crim, picking litter in NYC. The only famous bloke who ever got past her second wave boundaries and woke her female socialisation!

Dolorabelle · 10/01/2020 09:44

As Boy George was one of the best 1980s "gender-benders" I just love love love his management's response. Brave man and good for him!

notmoresheep · 10/01/2020 09:49

@LangCleg “Are people on this thread basically saying "ok boomer" to Boy George?” no, we’re saying the opposite.

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 10/01/2020 09:51

My mum worshipped Boy George. Wouldn't hear a word against him.

Your mum worshipped a man convicted of false imprisonment, chaining a man up and hitting him with a chain? Would she have still worshipped him if his victim had been a woman?

LangCleg · 10/01/2020 09:52

No need to @ me thank you. I am on the thread.

LiveintheNow · 10/01/2020 09:57

Anyone see first episode of 'the league of gentlemen'? It is educational on the use of pronouns.

Mockers2020Vision · 10/01/2020 10:04

I'd have preferred

"Do you really want to hurt me? Do you really want to make me cry?"

AutumnRose1 · 10/01/2020 10:06

My mum loved Boy George. I’ve never told her what he did!

notmoresheep · 10/01/2020 10:09

are you? you didn’t seem to have read it. but you’re welcome sweetie.
