Safe Schools Alliance support Legal action against Oxfordshire Schools Trans Guidance

Safe Schools Alliance supports legal action against Oxfordshire County Council. Three claimants (a teacher, a parent and a 13 year old girl) are bringing proceedings on the basis the guidance is illegal, breaks safeguarding protocols and compels teachers to subscribe to gender ideology or be at risk of disciplinary action.

The legal team think there the claimants have a really strong case.

Can't do Twitter but will be supporting and donating. Well done! It's very brave of them all and will bring more sunlight and MSM coverage.

This warms the cockles of my cold, cold heart. Thank you!

GColdtimer · 14/12/2019 20:48

Definitely, I have!

Clymene · 14/12/2019 20:52

Great. Well done SSA

hungryhippo · 14/12/2019 20:59

Wow, this is great!
I'm a very quiet lurker. But just wanted to say well done, on behalf of my daughter who has just started secondary school. I really hope this makes them think twice, and gives pause to all the other councils pushing this.

WrathofFaeKlop · 14/12/2019 21:09

GColdtimer
Omg that guidance.
I've read similar, but it is still shocks.

Morasssassafras · 14/12/2019 21:10

Thank you for doing this. I had a look at your Twitter and then did a little digging.

GColdtimer · 14/12/2019 21:17

Thanks everyone, Wrath, its appalling isn't it? Like jaw droopingly so.

Donated. Thank you Victoria Edwards, SSA and others, for taking up this legal action.

Dhalandchips · 14/12/2019 21:29

My kids are at school in Oxfordshire.. What can i do to protect them?

GColdtimer · 14/12/2019 21:31

Can anyone in Oxon message us through our website please? I think there are things you will be usefully able to do. For example, you could write to Lucy Butler and tell her you support the action and why. You can share this article and the ssa stuff with your head teachers. And share with other parents. We need to show Oxfordshire that parents are not happy with this.

It's well worth having a read of the DOWNLOAD LETTER TO OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL FROM SINCLAIRSLAW SOLICITORS DATED 13/12/19 link.

FamilyOfAliens · 14/12/2019 21:45

That letter is a breath of fresh air, nauticant. I had feared we would never see the day when people other than “bigots” and “terfs” would be making a stand against the dangerous, toxic ideology that’s pervading our schools.

nauticant · 14/12/2019 21:51

The way ahead has three complementary aspects. One is to prevent the law being changed further to include mad stuff. Another is targeted legal actions to make companies, organisations, institutions, etc comply with the law. The third is to campaign against institutional and regulatory capture.

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 14/12/2019 22:00

I’ve contributed and will share. I’m in Oxfordshire but children no longer at school. However happy to write and will co tact you through website. This is an important test case.

Uncompromisingwoman · 14/12/2019 22:07

Well done all of you. This is so important. Those guidelines are shocking and it is a sign of the extent to which regulatory capture has so silenced professionals that the safeguarding board and experienced education professionals strip away children's right to safety, dignity and privacy from the opposite sex without any hesitation. Not to mention repeatedly removing safeguarding from a vulnerable group and undermining the relationship between parents and children.

rodgmum · 14/12/2019 22:09

I am so pleased to see this. It’s such an important test case - will be doing some digging tomorrow morning.

GColdtimer · 14/12/2019 22:14

Thanks everyone. I do think we need a large parent and teacher body demonstrate to OCC we are not happy. It was a friend and I who started the challenge against OCC early this year and Safe Schools Alliance formed off the back of us meeting other groups of parents who were doing the same in their areas. We were dismissed, treated like bigots, etc. To hear a top flight barrister congratulate us on all our prep work and to say that everything we had been saying was right was quite a moment. We knew we were right but now we have the legal backing. It's amazing really. We but have a long way to go and need people to start raising their voices. So thank thankful for MN support.

Wow, and about time to. Thank you SSA for all your work on this. I shall be doing some digging as soon as my bank balance will allow.

FTFOTFVille · 14/12/2019 22:27

Yes, wow, good work indeed. Ditto digging.

The letter is excellent. This is such an important case. Will support on payday.

Well done and all good luck.

The sheer hard work and time GCers put into reading up and learning, and the generosity of professionals giving their expertise through articles, meetings and so on is amazing. It's so good to see you getting recognition for it.
