Safe Schools Alliance support Legal action against Oxfordshire Schools Trans Guidance

Safe Schools Alliance supports legal action against Oxfordshire County Council. Three claimants (a teacher, a parent and a 13 year old girl) are bringing proceedings on the basis the guidance is illegal, breaks safeguarding protocols and compels teachers to subscribe to gender ideology or be at risk of disciplinary action.

The legal team think there the claimants have a really strong case.

Was just coming to post this! I have girls at school in this region. Just going to find my spade ...

Melroses · 14/12/2019 23:31

Well done! Fantastic article. I will dig in!

Clymene · 15/12/2019 07:16

Just read that letter. Lucy is going to have a crappy Christmas Grin

Lordamighty · 15/12/2019 08:38

Would love to this played out in court. I’m dug in.

Finally.

Every time I think about this action and that extremist genderism is making an unsafe environment in our schools, I get a bit weepy.

I've dug and will dig again in January.

I urge everyone to read the letter sent as linked to earlier on the thread. Not only does it advocate for the legal rights of all children, not just those who question their gender, but it also challenges this horrendous guidance on the basis of placing children questioning their gender outside the safeguarding frameworks afforded to other children - to whit. confidential disclosures, parental alienation and information sharing.

The rights of girls matter. The safeguarding of children who question their gender matters. All guidance going into schools must be Working Together compliant.

Thank you, SSA. Thank you, thank you, thank you. And thank you, courageous claimants.

ImGenderfree · 15/12/2019 08:49

Is this toolkit essentially the same as the draft guidance from the EHRC which has yet to be released?

SingingLily · 15/12/2019 08:51

Will dig later today - I promise.

I don't live in Oxfordshire but I'm not a million miles away. My MP has similar concerns and I'll bring this to her attention so she can keep an eye on things over here.

MockersFactCheckMN · 15/12/2019 08:54

Seen the letter. Looks like Victoria Gillick is the gift that keeps on giving.

Sunkisses · 15/12/2019 09:04

@ImGenderfree, no this is a local education authority's (LEA) own guidance. The EHRC is the national statutory body whose job it is to promote and uphold (via guidance) equalities and anti-discrimination laws. The EHRC should have been explaining the single-sex exemptions in the Equality Act 2010 to schools, retailers, leisure centres etc. They have failed spectacularly, and have instead been captured by trans ideology. They were due to publish their local awaited schools trans guidance back in the Autumn, but it has been delayed due to pushback from parents and women's rights groups. If the EHRC's schools trans guidance does not uphold the rights of schoolgirls, I am sure it too will be subject to legal challenge.

SingingLily · 15/12/2019 09:13

Actually, if this action succeeds, wouldn't that force the EHRC to think again?

breakfastpizza · 15/12/2019 09:17

'Genderless' is included under the guidance as being 'Trans'. You guys - I'm Trans and I didn't even know it!

LangCleg · 15/12/2019 09:23

Might be worth posting the statutory safeguarding guidance for children, Working Together.

This action challenges the guidance not simply on the rights of girls but also on the safeguarding failures for the children who question their gender. Things like parental alienation, confidential disclosures, lack of information sharing - these things are all recommended in genderist guidance and they are not Working Together compliant.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 15/12/2019 09:36

Have dug.

Keep at it.

ImGenderfree · 15/12/2019 09:47

Thanks Sunkisses hopefully this action will cause other LAs to pause and that there is a successful outcome for SSA.

It’s quite snowy here so will have to get the spade out later,

GColdtimer · 15/12/2019 10:05

That's a good point Lang. We were really clear with the legal team this action needed to be about more than just the single sex exemptions and needed to go further and highlight the danger to GNC children. And we got the compelled speech issue in too. We were delighted the lawyers totally understood and have demonstrated our fears held legal grounds.

This action is about supporting and protecting ALL children.

Fuck yeah, go SSA!

LangCleg · 15/12/2019 10:22

This action is about supporting and protecting ALL children.

Precisely this.

GCAcademic · 15/12/2019 10:33

Thank you for doing this. Have done some digging.

teawamutu · 15/12/2019 10:39

Have dug and shared. Will continue to share and will dig again after Christmas.

You lot are amazing. Puuuuulll!

GColdtimer · 15/12/2019 10:39

I have to go out now as Christmas planning has been on hold for the last two weeks.

Please keep this thread bumped and keep sharing.

If anyone wants to write to Lucy Butler her email address is easily found. OCC need to see that the public is against them.

Is the Let Toys Be Toys campaign run by a GC woman or am I getting confused?

oxford east is in top 20 for most friendly area,
not sure about the rest of county

koshkat · 15/12/2019 13:35

As a teacher that guidance sends a chill down my spine. It is truly shocking how basic safeguarding for all involved has been shoved aside. It is unworkable and dangerous.

jhuizinga · 15/12/2019 14:00

Just bumping this thread. I have also done a bit of digging.
