Hi Mumsnet, I’m an Independent councillor on LCC. My name is Sarah Field and I’m a huge follower of Mumsnet Feminists.

Anyway am just putting a call out for anyone who still wants to buy a WPUK ticket for this Friday. Venue will be released in the afternoon. Unfortunately I’m not well enough to be on the panel, but would love to see the venue packed to the rafters and looking forward to listening to some amazing women.

Due to a shock cancer diagnosis in early July I’ve had to drop the mantle due to chemotherapy and a rough few months. But slowly I want to get back momentum and take back the fight against Leeds misogyny and its sex trade.

You need to be more specific dianebrester, christmas cake must only be eaten with wensleydale cheese!

Last night was interesting. Ruth Serwotka's speech did sound rather like a party political broadcast on behalf of the LP though. She was bigging up how positive their manifesto is for women but couldn't properly respond to an audience member asking how we could be assured that by women the LP aren't including TW.

Another interesting point for me was an unofficial speaker (from Liverpool Resisters I think) who told us that the Labour Women's Declaration was something created independently by a group of left wing women during the weekend of the FiLiA conference. So not, as some people have thought, a softener created by the LP following the announcement of the GE.

Sarah, I've never read your speech before and it's moved me massively. I'm on the wrong side of the Pennines but wishing you all the best for your recovery, you're amazing Smile

Sorry @WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe - in my parents house it was always a mild cheddar, not Wensleydale! I've tried it with Wensleydale, I want to prefer Wensleydale, but the taste of childhood for me is cheddar with Christmas cake 😏

Sarah/Madge - just another one wishing you well and sorry to hear you weren't able to make the meeting that you were instrumental in making happen.

Your speech earlier this year was fantastic. Glad you were able to at least read the accounts of last night, thanks to the great tweeters out there.

Thank you wonderful women for your kind words. I’ll be changing username so I can’t be identified now.

I'm far too far away to have been able to attend, but gather from Twitter that it was a huge success. Hope you're out of hospital soon, if not already, Sarah. Your speech in May was one of the most inspirational things I've ever read. The link to it has been my pinned tweet on Twitter ever since and is still regularly read and retweeted.
