For fucks sake!

Well, from a personal perspective this is good news. Coca Cola isn't good for me but it is hard to resist the occasional can. I now will have no trouble at all resisting it.

But with a less selfish hat on - FFS Coca Cola. This is an awful message to be sending out and it is despicable that you are exploiting vulnerable children for your sales.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/11/2019 22:08

Wasn’t the ad for 7up (one of their brands)? I prefer sprite (please noone tell me who owns that)

MarshaBradyo · 13/11/2019 22:12

Fuck that, so sad that women’s bodies are being used this way in advertising

ALittleBitofVitriol · 13/11/2019 22:12

I could weep.

OldCrone · 13/11/2019 22:12

It was an advert for sprite (owned by coca cola).

FamilyOfAliens · 13/11/2019 22:21

That mother smiling after pulling the binder tight around her daughter’s breasts. It’s sadistic.

everybodypuuuullllll · 13/11/2019 22:32

A teenage girl being lovingly assisted in flattening her breasts, with all the health risks that entails? No fucking way.

So fucking sick of this misogynistic, homophobic shit being presented as if it's progressive and inclusive and liberal.

MarshaBradyo · 13/11/2019 22:37

Why should women’s bodily discomfort be a selling point for a product.

There’s bad shit throughout history for us and now this modern day version of body binding sold to us.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/11/2019 22:39

Foot binding anyone?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 13/11/2019 22:44

I hope anyone who can read Spanish read the Twitter responses from the link in the other thread about this. People aren't having it! Seven Up will apparently now have a lot of new customers.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/11/2019 22:49

Fuck is it sprite not 7up? Aw crap. Sugary pop anyway. I’ll stick to wine then.

7Days · 13/11/2019 22:51

Do you think that maybe things have gone too far.
So many institutions, corporations, peo pl le have walked so far into this they can't backtrack?

But maybe the Woke thing to do in 10 years time will be abject apologies.

It might work on a cultural level, and as usual the victims are heavily leaned on to be quiet. Or characterised as crazy outliers

Sorry for depressing post

kristallen · 13/11/2019 23:09

There won't be abject apologies in 10 years. Because the people having their breasts bound are female.

JumpJockey · 13/11/2019 23:09

That is horrendous. For some reason I thought it was more like a big bandage than a solid corset-type thing.

7Days · 13/11/2019 23:13

Abject apologies to trans people as a whole, though.

Maybe.

PermanentTemporary · 13/11/2019 23:19

Tell me I didn't see what I just saw.

Tell me that's some kind of bizarre parody, or someone trying to discredit CocaCola (and I know theres plenty of political ground room to protest against coca cola.)

Because the idea that an international company in the modern world might view coercive disabling of women as a positive association for its brand is of course ridiculous.

Verylucky2 · 13/11/2019 23:21

I don't drink it myself, but do regularly buy it for guests/visiting family.

Never again!

Shame on you, Coca Cola!

littlepickett · 13/11/2019 23:22

Dammit. Yet another brand I can't boycott because I don't buy it anyway. Oh well.

Do you never drink fanta, dr pepper, sprite, lilt, oasis, smart water, powerade, appeltizer, shweppes or anything from costa coffee? Coca Cola owns all these brands and more.

Babdoc · 13/11/2019 23:26

Has anyone tried complaining to the Advertising Standards Authority to get the ad banned?

Scarscar · 13/11/2019 23:29

And another thing I buy bites the dust. I've been a diet coke addict for years. Looks like I've just kicked the habit and they've made it very easy. Absolutely disgusted at this.

ErrolTheDragon · 13/11/2019 23:31

Has anyone tried complaining to the Advertising Standards Authority to get the ad banned?

I don't suppose they have any authority over Argentinan ads, even if they can be viewed here on the web.

littlepickett · 13/11/2019 23:32

Has anyone tried complaining to the Advertising Standards Authority to get the ad banned?

As the Advertising Standards Authority is a UK organisation I would assume it has no influence over adverts in Argentina? Or am I mistaken?

BadgertheBodger · 13/11/2019 23:40

Dear Coca Cola

I understand you’re probably one of the largest companies in the entire world. I get that you’re the sort of company staffed by the woke; you probably actively recruit the young, the fresh, the cheap

My question to the higher ups is; do you support this?

Do you actively support the mutilation of and the experimentation on our children? Do you think it’s ok that children will be left infertile and a lifelong medical patient because of something it suits your business to be seen to be supporting? Do you think it is acceptable to experiment with off-label prostate cancer drugs in children, when matters of consent are not properly explained and implications are not spelled out?

Do you, yes you, the ones who are personally responsible for this disgusting display of incompetence and sheer fucking blind ignorance; do you accept the harm you do? You push this agenda in all of its anti-woman, anti-science bullshit glory, and you think we’ll just meekly roll over, be briefly and absolutely not intentionally strangled, and then die? Fuck. You.

Coca Cola. Fuck. You.

You’ll no doubt paint this as some crazy person. I don’t feel much bothered about the label, but I will have the truth.

I do not wish any of this on us. Just. No.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 13/11/2019 23:40

What's sad is that it could so easily just have been a cute ad about parents supporting their gay kids, but no, they had to throw "and help them put on this thing that may break their ribs and puncture a lung!" in there too.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 13/11/2019 23:41

Do you never drink fanta, dr pepper, sprite, lilt, oasis, smart water, powerade, appeltizer, shweppes or anything from costa coffee? Coca Cola owns all these brands and more
Nope. But maybe I’ll have to start, just so I can then give it up. Bit like that old joke about why you bang your head against a brick wall......because it feels so good when I stop, Doctor.
