Detransition the Elephant in the Room - Update!

DJLippy · 11/11/2019 16:57

The Detransition Advocacy Network was established to support people who have stopped or reversed gender reassignment.

To celebrate its launch, Make More Noise will be hosting an event discussing the ethics of the social and medical transition of gender non-conforming women and girls.

Featuring talks from professionals working in the field followed by a panel discussion of detransitioned women talking about their experiences.

UPDATE! NAME OF FIRST SPEAKER ANNOUNCED

Susan Evans is a mental health nurse and psychotherapist who resigned her position at the Tavistock clinic over concerns that hormones were being prescribed to vulnerable children without due care. She is seeking to bring a legal case to the courts which will establish that children cannot give their informed consent to radical experimental medical treatment.

Have a great night. I hope it's a sell out.

PurpleHoodie · 30/11/2019 17:07

Thank you wish.

DuMondeB · 30/11/2019 18:23

Pretty certain Stuart Lorimer and Helen Islan are here.

The reidentified women are amazing. Truly stunning and brave ❤️

pombear · 30/11/2019 19:37

Huge applause for those who put this event on, and for the bravery of those who spoke on the panel.

For those wanting to catch up on what was said:

Enjoy the pub, all!

pombear · 30/11/2019 19:46

And for those who have twitter accounts and may be on certain (Challenor-created) blocklists, I'd recommend logging out and reading that hashtag to witness the vitriol and flailing from a tiny segment of the trans activist movement who decided to comment on tonight's event.

As always, when people show you who they are, believe them the first time.

Yes they were weren't they? there was a little row of 5 who sat there stony faced not applauding. I hope they felt completely ashamed of themselves.

RagingBall · 30/11/2019 21:07

I thought it was a great event. If the sour pusses in the back row can find anything negative in the things those amazing young women had to say, then they should be ashamed of themselves.

TinselAngel · 30/11/2019 23:14

I think this was an important event.

The thing that keeps going round in my mind is one of the young detransitioners saying that she had thought that gender dysphoria was something wrong inside her, but then she realised it was something society had done to her. It came from outside, not inside.

Themyscira · 30/11/2019 23:24

Stu ran out of the room as soon as the final q&a from the audience stood up and said surgeons should be arrested for what they've done to these women.

Both panels were amazing. A call for more science, more research, a better standard of care. A reduction in homophobia and misogyny. Anyone who argues against these things - well. Your masks are slipping is all I can say.

StillWeRise · 30/11/2019 23:30

It would cost an enormous amount, emotionally to listen to those testimonies and not have any doubt creep in. Of course if you are personally and professionally invested in 'affirming' transition you will begin by mentally/verbally trashing those who cause you discomfort. But even that is not without cost. Nobody really, really believes this crap.

NotAssigned · 30/11/2019 23:44

Agreed - the amount of rowing back needed by those who have been cheerleaders and enablers would be immense. Let's hope these stories and testimonies start some on that road.

If Stuart and Mimmymum and others were at the event, that's a good thing. I expect they will be reading this thread also.

As has been said, no one can really believe people are born in the wrong body. Not really and truly.

This was the grumps in the back row...

I had the absolute best time and met loads of awesome women. Drunk now.

Get home safe DuMonde Smile

You women are inspirational x

NotBadConsidering · 01/12/2019 03:54

Helen denies she was sat “stony faced” in “some ‘detransitioner’ meeting” then says she had better things to do, while using the hashtag “obsessedmuch”. Oh Helen, maybe one of those “better things” could be looking up irony in the dictionary instead of Monitoring all your mentions here. [ waves!]

Doesn’t deny she was there though, merely how her face looked🗿...

Backinthecloset123 · 01/12/2019 05:03

Fantastic.

Puuullllllllll. It's moving.

Justhadathought · 01/12/2019 09:31

Stu ran out of the room as soon as the final q&a from the audience stood up and said surgeons should be arrested for what they've done to these women

An incredibly worthwhile event for everyone who attended. The eight de-transitioners - all of whom spoke of their story and experience.
The Q&A with the panel of five young women revealed fully the profound sadness and horror of what is going on in the name of transgender ideology.

It can surely only be a matter of time before the first professional malpractice case comes to court. That fully qualified professionals with specialisms in mental health are not offering full counselling to young people, but instead advancing them, without question, towards a path of medical and surgical transition is deeply disturbing.

Justhadathought · 01/12/2019 09:33

The eight detransitioners - all of whom spoke of their experiences and story, were very eloquent, in revealing the precise paths their thought processes took, to get to them to the place where they say transition as the only solution

Justhadathought · 01/12/2019 09:33

Sorry for the multiple typos......

Justhadathought · 01/12/2019 09:42

I can well imagine that what will be spun from this, in a bizarre reversal of reality, is that societal transphobia has made these young women doubt their true nature, and has subsequently thwarted them in their path of transitioning. That gender identity is the real thing, not the sexed body.

TinselAngel · 01/12/2019 09:46

The way that the L has been squeezed out by the T, to the point it's now invisible to young GNC girls is such a tragedy.

namechanger6060 · 01/12/2019 10:00

A certain pal of the board is handing out tin hats about this event.

SSUK had fantastic coverage on twitter!

drspouse · 01/12/2019 10:08

Apparently Stella O'Malley incorrectly self diagnosed with gender dysphoria but no teenager is doing that now.
