When The National asked Labour boss Richard Leonard yesterday if he thought terf was an acceptable term for a candidate to use, he replied “no”.

Now if only someone could explain that to the Lib Dems.

At least there are some standards in public life left.

Qcng · 07/11/2019 21:17

I was so heartened by this news.
Her original Tweet "Bang, and the terf is gone" is so symptomatic of the anti-woman activism taking over modern day politics and policy.

It's a case of too little too late, but at least there's a shift in recognising the interminable misogyny inherent in gender ideology.

"I apologised about the actual content of the meme. It was silly, I posted it without looking very hard at it."

(having photoshopped an existing image to tell a story I wished to portray I then decided to tweet it but on reflection I just didn't look close enough...incredible....)

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 07/11/2019 21:27

Oh well thank goodness for that, a small amount of faith restored back in the Labour Party.

DuMondeB · 07/11/2019 22:06

Good.

Mner2019 · 07/11/2019 22:25

Yay!

Coldwatershock · 07/11/2019 23:47

Really good news. The Jo Cox Foundation probably weren't too pleased with her publicizing being a graduate of one of their schemes...

To be fair to her she didn't create the meme. a woke young man did: He was afterwards exposed as having been racist, misogynistic and yes even transphobic in the past on Twitter and deleted his account.

Birdsfoottrefoil · 08/11/2019 08:44

To be fair, the fact she didn’t create the meme is irrelevant.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 08/11/2019 08:49

She’s a woman and expendable. Imagine if they had dropped one of the ‘others’ for similar (and worse) behaviour?
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

KatvonHostileExtremist · 08/11/2019 08:49

I hope she is sorry, I hope she can learn to see other people's perspectives.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 08/11/2019 08:53

No she was played. A silly immature woman played by a obnoxious man. How could we trust her on anything?

donquixotedelamancha · 08/11/2019 08:59

I must admit that was my feeling a bit. Still the posts were very unpleasant and her apology half hearted. If this is a sign that Scottish Labour are not going to let TRAs abuse women in the same way they do in the rest of the party then great.

I think this makes it harder for other constituency parties to excuse online abuse.

The Jo Cox Foundation rejected Jo Bartosch's application for its women in leadership foundation in favour of er... other applicants, for example, Heather Peto.

Ereshkigal · 08/11/2019 09:23

To be fair, the fact she didn’t create the meme is irrelevant.

It was a reply to a specific point that she couldn't have failed to notice the content because she made it herself. She didn't. That's all. It doesn't absolve her from tweeting it, and she was the political candidate, not him.

RoyalCorgi · 08/11/2019 09:25

Colour me surprised.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 08/11/2019 09:26

She reposted it and gleefully commented on it (and I believed had no shame until she got the boot). So not an accidental/thoughtless act.

Ereshkigal · 08/11/2019 09:27

I agree.

Ereshkigal · 08/11/2019 09:27

She attempted to DARVO Joanna Cherry.

AlunWynsKnee · 08/11/2019 09:32

I don't think this is any victory against the TRAs. The report I heard said it was deemed to be a problem because it was about throwing bleach at someone. No judgement on women's rights or the value of Joanna Cherry's work. :(

MockersthefeMANist · 08/11/2019 09:43

They're dropping like flies at the moment, and I have some sympathy for this one:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-50338256

...having used that analogy myself in the past.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 08/11/2019 10:10

Some women are discovering that their ‘fab and fun’ new pals are just nasty little piss takers who don’t really give a shit about them.

nauticant · 08/11/2019 18:05

It seems that some people are learning-phobic:

Aww bless the wean. I suppose they (sing) has (sing) more time on their (sing) hands now.
