Stickerwoman strikes again - Oxford

AnyOldPrion · 11/10/2019 18:43

Haven’t seen a thread on this, apologies if I somehow missed it, but Stickerwoman has been out preparing the ground for the Woman’s Place meeting.

The police are taking it very seriously, as obviously they don’t have any actual crimes to solve.

Thank you Stickerwoman, whoever you are!

Paula from Bournemouth, if you are on here. Brilliant.

GColdtimer · 15/10/2019 10:02

I honestly wonder what the police are going to do to the TW protesting the WPUK event in Oxford this month.

thecompletenonsequitur · 15/10/2019 10:02

Switching off Lbc now because it's JO'B.

Janeaustensquill · 15/10/2019 10:10

So relieved that Paula was so clear and sensible. Dealt v well with the toilets issue. And what a great sign off! The LGBTQIA spokeswoman was out of her depth. I can’t believe intersex has been included in the woke alphabet now- surely that will be against their wishes from all in read? The texts Nick F read all were all calling out the nonsense too. Very pleasing. Anyone who missed it can listen again on the LBC app.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 15/10/2019 10:27

I saw a very angry blue haired individual furiously scraping a sticker off a lamp post.

If time travel were a thing I'd go to the same post 30 seconds after bluehair had moved on and sticker it back up again. Then follow the gang down the street... Grin

GCAcademic · 15/10/2019 10:28

Wow, that Pride woman sounded incredibly thick and not a little like she believes that the law exists to uphold her own personal and illogical beliefs.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 15/10/2019 10:30

And if TVP could please update me on the investigation into the violent gang assault on my son

Add my friend's son to the list please. He was off work for 6 months because his injuries were so severe. There are witnesses (incl assailant boasting!) and clear CCTV and the assailant's full name and home location is known.

Maybe I should be more generous, they've only had 9-10 months to get round to it...

sashh · 15/10/2019 10:32

Perhaps they should raid the numerous bookshops in Oxford, those dictionaries are full of hate speech.

GladAllOver · 15/10/2019 11:18

Perhaps they should raid the numerous bookshops in Oxford, those dictionaries are full of hate speech.
Just what I was thinking.
Why aren't the police prosecuting Oxford University Press for printing that transphobic definition of woman in all their dictionaries?

GladAllOver · 15/10/2019 11:22

Perhaps the next batch of stickers should reproduce an actual photocopy of the dictionary entry, to make it very clear where the definition comes from. Yes it would be a breach of copyright but I doubt they would sue.

RoyalCorgi · 15/10/2019 11:22

Yup, they should confiscate the dictionaries, and while they're at it the biology textbooks. Biology undergraduates are being taught that men and women are biologically different, and we can't have that.

Has anyone come across Alessandra Asteriti on Twitter? She's a really good gender critical lawyer who tweets about this stuff a lot, but I haven't seen her mentioned here before (it wouldn't surprise me if she's on this forum). She has a good thread on what it means, in legal terms, to redefine the word "woman" to include trans women:

Janeaustensquill · 15/10/2019 14:31

Now following Alessandra Asteriti on Twitter - great recommendation.

New Inspector Morse mystery thriller: The Wolvercote Sticker.

TimeLady · 16/10/2019 06:28

Spotted this DM article in which the Oxford stickering is mentioned

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7577477/Now-trans-gay-hate-crime-mean-SIX-months-jail-judges-ordered-crack-down.html

which has a pretty intimidating headline Now trans and gay hate crime will mean SIX months in jail after judges are ordered to crack down with harsher sentences than those that are given for domestic burglaries

However, looking at the Sentencing Council's website, the revisded guidelines are for Offences relating to stirring up racial or religious hatred and hatred based on sexual orientation

www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/news/item/new-sentencing-guidelines-for-public-order-offences-published-2/

Note: sexual orientation, not transgender identity, which according to the cps site, is a completely separate category to sexual orientation

The term 'hate crime' can be used to describe a range of criminal behaviour where the perpetrator is motivated by hostility or demonstrates hostility towards the victim's disability, race, religion, sexual orientation or transgender identity.

www.cps.gov.uk/hate-crime

I was concerned at the implications and timing with impending court cases mentioned here on MN, but it doesn't look as though misgendering or stating scientific truth is going to get anyone banged up after all, despite how this might be spun..

VictoriaSpongeAndTea · 16/10/2019 07:29

Maybe we should go around with stickers of the definition of a man and see if tvp are as active...

Standing for Women have them

Also on a man's T-shirt.

Just had a look at the merchandise; I'm tempted by the enamel pin. That looks very versatile

Stickerwoman has transmogrified into Posterwoman!

www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/18288060.poster-slamming-unisex-toilets-discovered-ashmolean-oxford/

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 06/03/2020 20:45

Hurrah!
Those are stickers though aren’t they? I’ve seen them before but can’t remember where to buy them

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/03/2020 20:46

I like Posterwoman's style. Stickerwoman's sister?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/03/2020 20:51

It is unclear who stuck the poster in the gender-neutral cubicle at the museum, however, a website url links to a Times newspaper opinion piece written by special adviser to the Prime Minister Andrew Gilligan.

Are they trying to imply that Andrew put it up? Grin

Didactylos · 06/03/2020 22:12

And what if it was Andrew Gilligan? Hmm
surely if its a gender neutral cubicle he's entitled to be there

(This post contains mock outrage and the assumption of pronouns Grin)

Lordfrontpaw · 06/03/2020 22:30

Someone deserves a 🏅

nettie434 · 07/03/2020 06:21

Has anyone come across Alessandra Asteriti on Twitter?

She has also posted on here royalcorgi janeaustensquillpen with the same name. This is where I first came across her. And yes - she is very impressive 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

EverardDigby · 07/03/2020 07:00

"This is the first time we are hearing about this as this is not the view of the Ashmolean"

What does this mean? Are they arguing with the actual statistics? Or are they saying they just don't care about the safety of women and girls?
