Spotted this DM article in which the Oxford stickering is mentioned
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7577477/Now-trans-gay-hate-crime-mean-SIX-months-jail-judges-ordered-crack-down.html
which has a pretty intimidating headline Now trans and gay hate crime will mean SIX months in jail after judges are ordered to crack down with harsher sentences than those that are given for domestic burglaries
However, looking at the Sentencing Council's website, the revisded guidelines are for Offences relating to stirring up racial or religious hatred and hatred based on sexual orientation

Note: sexual orientation, not transgender identity, which according to the cps site, is a completely separate category to sexual orientation
The term 'hate crime' can be used to describe a range of criminal behaviour where the perpetrator is motivated by hostility or demonstrates hostility towards the victim's disability, race, religion, sexual orientation or transgender identity.

I was concerned at the implications and timing with impending court cases mentioned here on MN, but it doesn't look as though misgendering or stating scientific truth is going to get anyone banged up after all, despite how this might be spun..
