Stickerwoman strikes again - Oxford

AnyOldPrion · 11/10/2019 18:43

Haven’t seen a thread on this, apologies if I somehow missed it, but Stickerwoman has been out preparing the ground for the Woman’s Place meeting.

The police are taking it very seriously, as obviously they don’t have any actual crimes to solve.

Thank you Stickerwoman, whoever you are!

Does these privileged people even get how bonkers they sound to ordinary people

In their privileged bubbles of wokie wankery

HandsOffMyRights · 12/10/2019 15:09

Oh and for transparency that screenshot is like a year old and not from my anthology of screenshots 🤐

FoodWoes · 12/10/2019 15:23

20 stickers are £4

NewNameGuy · 12/10/2019 15:31

I just went to oxford and was disappointed not to see any.

Milanimilani · 12/10/2019 15:48

inky Flowers because, men.

Whatisthisfuckery · 13/10/2019 13:52

There were several stickers all along The High, both pro-trans and pro-women. There’s pro-trans graffiti sprawled around Cowley Centre and up Oxford Road/Cowley Road. I bet that’s not been scrubbed off though. Next time I’m around there I’ll have a look.

TimeLady · 14/10/2019 17:40

James Kirkup reporting on this in The Spectator today

blogs.spectator.co.uk/2019/10/a-transphobic-crime-wave-has-hit-oxford/

Showing the police up for their ridiculous response. Thanks, James,(and the Oxford Mail)

Ereshkigal · 14/10/2019 17:51

Even more oddly, when I asked the force what those stickers say, a press officer told me “the content and appearance of the stickers is not suitable for sharing.”

Excellent work in reporting this by James Kirkup Flowers but... holy shit.

So Oxford Police want people to report others for putting ‘woman= Adult human female’ or ‘women don’t have penises’ on a sticker?

I mean, let that sink in.
Honestly, they will be burning books next.

Liberty, where is your interest in freedom of speech now?

www.libertyhumanrights.org.uk/human-rights/what-are-human-rights/human-rights-act/article-10-free-expression

Why aren’t all these ‘human rights’ groups and the whole UK media absolutely up in arms about half the population not being able to self-describe without calls for police involvement?

Rubidium · 14/10/2019 20:58

I just went to oxford and was disappointed not to see any.

But there are hundreds, nay, thousands of these stickers!:

I too had a look round the other day but all I could see were loads of teenage doodlings like this.

RedToothBrush · 14/10/2019 21:19

Story has made the Telegraph

Police response to 'transphobic' stickers branded 'extraordinary'

Apollo440 · 14/10/2019 21:35

So would wearing a t shirt with Woman = Adult Human Female get you arrested in Oxford? I think we should ask. I'd be willing to get arrested for that and bring this nonsense to a head. I'll even let them know where and when I'll be arriving and they can arrest me off the train.

Apollo440 · 14/10/2019 21:35

This is almost too good an opportunity to miss!

ChattyLion · 14/10/2019 22:19

Apollo I don’t want anyone to get arrested for anything but your post made me smile Glitterball

Oxford’s a university town, I do hope all those academic biology teachers and researchers have been warned that they should expect the bizzies round if they carry on teaching their medical students that women don’t have penises...

NewNameGuy · 14/10/2019 22:23

I saw one sticker while doing the marathon this weekend.
It was pro trans and looked like it was drawn by a 5 year old (perhaps this is what the 40 year old male was identifying as while writing it)

Ereshkigal · 14/10/2019 22:28

As pp have mentioned, there is a WPUK meeting in Oxford later this month. I expect there will be more stickering from both Team Biology and Team Ideology.

GColdtimer · 15/10/2019 01:27

I wonder if the police will be so concerned at any hate crimes carried out at the WPUK meeting this month.

GColdtimer · 15/10/2019 01:30

The editor of the mail has drunk deeply from the koolaid fountain. She has deleted her thread but she went on a rant about an awful angry non trans women who called her and tried to say the TW were Male. Also lots of hand wringing about her “cis, white privileged”. This is the bloody editor.

Siameasy · 15/10/2019 05:56

Interested to see which actual criminal offence is committed because “insulting” was removed from Sec 5 of the Public Order Act some time ago (hooray!) so I’m stumped🤷‍♀️
The sticker would actually have to be threatening or abusive for the poster of the sticker to fall foul of the law
Something being “offensive” isn’t a crime and it’s clumsy of the Police to suggest otherwise. Ffs DH’s bowel is offensive and causes me alarm..🙈
I wish the word offensive just would fuck off. It means nothing in terms of the law in this context.
I’ve only read the Spectator article but I’m betting this is lip service from TVP
The Police should remember they have a duty to protect free speech

Illyria47 · 15/10/2019 09:17

We really are in an alternate universe.

RoyalCorgi · 15/10/2019 09:33

I notice that on Twitter our favourite QC Jolyon Maugham has responded to James Kirkup's article by saying: "Surely you can see what an ugly and destructive provocation that is?"

Yes, you read it right. A high-profile lawyer thinks that the biological definition of woman is an "ugly and destructive provocation".

He must really hate women.

RoyalCorgi · 15/10/2019 09:39

From the Telegraph article:

"Latest figures suggest there were more than 1,000 violent and sexual offence crimes in Oxford in the 12 months to August, an increase of almost 20 per cent on the previous year.

"Other crimes including anti-social behaviour, theft and criminal damage had also risen."

So very telling about police priorities.

TottieandMarchpane · 15/10/2019 09:53

Interesting idea.

thecompletenonsequitur · 15/10/2019 09:58

Lbc phone in now. Only time for one call I think.

thecompletenonsequitur · 15/10/2019 10:01

Well done Paula from Bournemouth. I was fearing that the only call to get through would be a tw.
