I'm coming out... I want the world to know

I've had enough. I'm coming out ... call me gender critical. Call me transphobic if you want. Call me whatever the fuck you like.

But I know what the fuck a woman actually is.

An inverted penis does not a vagina make.

And I want to scream it from the rooftops!

Please be gentle with me, I'm still getting to use to all this, coming from a very liberal country where I may have just committed the ultimate thought crime. But today the straw finally broke the camel's back (I do love that phrase!)

I hope in time to share my story but today... I'm coming out. Let's party!

Cheers to you Red welcome!

Wine Raising a glass to you @RedWineForMePlease,you're in good company.
Muuuuuuuum · 13/09/2019 19:42

Congratulations!

I crept out a tiny bit at work, asking lots of "oh, but how does that fit with..." questions and watched them struggle to formulate answers. "It's complicated" and "hopefully that scenario won't happen here" were best they could do.

But I daren't be out out. Work is all about 'best practice' and 'current guidelines' so can only question not rant. Fortunately (for my sanity and continued employment, if not the impact I can make) my role is only very tangentially connected to service delivery so I don't have to deal with the issue directly.

Hazza000 · 13/09/2019 19:51

Yes I'm feeling overwhelmed with the 'there are 100 new genders'. Sam Smith anyone? Just call me they 🙄

testing987654321 · 13/09/2019 20:11

I asked a total stranger why they hadn't put their pronoun badge on (I hadn't either) and then explained that I think the word woman should mean woman. The world didn't fall apart, although some people may not want to employ me.

I also pointed out to a woman at work that lesbians are considered transphobic if they don't think transwomen are potential partners. Her shocked reaction showed how little this has filtered into "normal" society.

The news about Magdalen Berns tipped me.
My fb is suddenly wall to wall Terfiness and you know what? IDGAF.
It's liberating. Cheers 🍷

I’m in the closet. Woke son screamed at me tonight, we were talking about Brexit , and I mentioned that I read a thread on Mumsnet, transphobic cunts were mentioned. I failed the test and feigned ignorance. Been feeling like a traitor ever since.

Qcng · 14/09/2019 01:02

Hi and red wine for me too x
Cheers!

Goosefoot · 14/09/2019 02:32

I'm also from a very liberal country. Was told off by my sister the other day or tangentially mentioning to someone at a party that the word gender was borrowed from grammatical uses, which I thought was pretty factual and benign. Too much potential for badness with people I didn't know around, apparently.

wheresmymojo · 14/09/2019 03:02

I just came out on Twitter.

I added the following to my bio which is a quote stolen from a Mumsnetter:

"My pronouns are sex based, just like my oppression".

I'm a Lib Dem and very active in Twitter politics (because Brexit) so interested to see if anyone notices or brings it up.

70sWitch · 14/09/2019 09:30

"My pronouns are sex based, just like my oppression

I am also stealing that.

testing987654321 · 14/09/2019 10:17

transphobic cunts

Maybe try another conversation with woke son and point out the misogyny in using cunts to describe women.

Daughterofmabel · 14/09/2019 10:20

Me too!

EmpressLesbianInChair · 14/09/2019 10:22

Is your son in a relationship with someone who identifies as trans, 3dogs?

If not, why not? Has he checked his privilege & tried to deal with his own internal transphobia?

pachyderm · 14/09/2019 10:55

I'd be having a word with my son if he was calling women cunts 3dogs. A strong word.

3dogs2cats · 14/09/2019 14:08

Transphobic cunts. It certainly was very strong language. Left me very shocked. Son is gay, with some trans friends. Trans is all very close to home. I have to be careful.

vaginafetishist · 14/09/2019 18:52

This is why I've spoken to my children, the mini t*rfs before they enter the woke ages.

StopThePlanet · 14/09/2019 19:07

@3dogs2cats - ‘woke son’ needs a kick up the arse (sorry I know he’s your flesh and blood but hey, I’d say the same about mine!)

PhonicTheHedgehog · 14/09/2019 19:14

My cunt is transphobic. She knows what a woman and man are.

jobissues1 · 14/09/2019 19:24

My DD is currently a freshers helper helping all the new students move into halls, take them out and about. They all wear badges with their photo, names and pronouns.

As part of their training they have been taught that they must never assume anyone's gender. Toilets are the issue of the day!

If anyone asks where the toilets are (which happens a million times a day!) they must ask "which toilet are you looking for?" To never presume it would be the ladies etc. DD says without fail every single student has looked at her like she's stupid!!
