Have you all seen what's in the news? A /woman/ has illegally accessed the details of ~100m customers of the credit card company Capital One. I wonder how this crime, committed by a /woman/, will be recorded in the statistics...?

OP posts:

Yes, it's a "woman" so it's a "woman's crime" Hmm

I saw this but couldn't find confirmation. I thought it could be a woman, as in a real one but so difficult to tell.

I'll eat my own hair if this person was born female.

Found one with a picture. Not a woman.

orangeshoebox · 30/07/2019 10:29

funny that most news outlets add 'transgender'
the bbc does not...

LizzieSiddal · 30/07/2019 10:31

Fuck the BBC! On another thread somone said there is a crowdfunder to get a judicial review into BBC bias regarding this shite. I can't find any details anywhere. Does anyone know about this and could give me a link to the campaign?

S1naidSucks · 30/07/2019 10:32

Another techie who identifies as a non man. There’s a surprise. All the comments are on that person’s appearance and how odd they look. I’m waiting for the penny to drop.

Interesting to see the comments section on the Daily Fail are moderated for this story.

Anyone actually manage to ever get any factual information regarding this type of shit to pass the DM moderators?

I am polite but factual, never cruel or phobic in my attempts but...nada.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 30/07/2019 10:44

TBF the DM usually choose their photos well. They don't need to say it in words.

NotTerfNorCis · 30/07/2019 10:45

This is why transwomen should never be referred to as women. Transwomen and women are distinct categories.

ChickenonaMug · 30/07/2019 10:56

LizzieSiddal we can't link to crowdfunders but I have just mangnaged to find it by googling certain words. It would be good to see a crowd of people fighting for justice against BBC bias

Jaxhog · 30/07/2019 10:59

Quite.

LizzieSiddal · 30/07/2019 10:59

Thank you Chicken!

WrathofSWhittIeKlop · 30/07/2019 11:02

Trouble is,
Actual women rarely commit these crimes.

There I've said it.

Sue me

EverardDigby · 30/07/2019 11:03

Oh God why did I click on the Daily Mail slide show and see the mandatory AGP-lying-in-bed-in-strappy-top selfie?

Morning, everyone. We know there is an important discussion to be had here so we want to keep the thread going but we just wanted to pop by with a reminder to everyone to post in a way that is civil and constructive. We will have to delete any comments that fall outside our Talk Guidelines. Thanks!

Exactly. Although now I think after all the muddying of water that's gone on that media should just refer to people as male/female. There's no blurring of lines, no denying that some people are male and others are female. Gender identity doesn't need to come into it when reporting facts in the news.

Unusually The Guardian haven't mentioned sex or gender:

overnightangel · 30/07/2019 11:19

“Gender identity doesn't need to come into it when reporting facts in the news.”

Exactly.
Downright dangerous territory, would they class this as a crime by a woman if they’d beaten up their female partner?

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 30/07/2019 11:23

Yes, they would, just as they do when XY trans people commit rapes.
