I don't normally touch the express with a barge poll but a story was linked on my Fb feed. The headline was "Girl,13, stabbed to death after she told lover, 25, she was pregnant"

The headline has since been changed to "'Man, 25 stabbed girl, 13, to death after she told him she was was pregnant with his baby'"

The articles talks about their secret year long relationship.

lets change that, pregnant 13 year old stabbed by man who groomed and abused her for a year.

And people say there is no need for feminism any more.

I’m pretty sure that the BBC was reporting this story in similar terms, until they were pulled up on it. It’s appalling. It feels like there’s a concerted attack on safeguarding at the moment.

Any affection she might have felt for her rapist was the result of grooming by a paedophile.

She was too young to consent to sex, the relationship was not therefore consensual so he was not her "lover" and they were not in a "relationship".

It's only automatically considered rape for children 12 and under, if the child "consented". It's still a very serious criminal sex offence up to 16. So I think "predator" or "grooming" or paedophile would have been appropriate.

At 13 she would have been too young to be anyone’s lover.
