TW tells women they don

Can't seem to copy and paste this and it is deleted from twitter but here is the full text from Bex Stinson who apparently works as Stonewall, and is a TW.

'If you are straight and CIS you don't have to deal with men forcing you to be sexual for their entertainment. You don't face violence and abuse if you reject their advances or deny them sexual pleasure. Pride matters'.

Only two possible explanations. One, this person's lived experience means they have not idea of what it is like to be an female woman and has never bothered to talk to any female women or read their accounts about this, but still presumes they do know and it is all dandy. Or B, they were addressing men and simply forgot female women actually exist. Because they aren't that important, after all.

SOrry, posted before I came up with a title - aargh!

You could ask MN to edit it for you. But yes, well worth highlighting. I was openmouthed when I saw a screenshot of that earlier. (The tweet's been deleted, apparently.) My money's on B, btw.

ConfusedHmm WTF?!

Whatsnewpussyhat · 09/06/2019 17:49

They clearly know fuck all about women.

MindTheMinotaur · 09/06/2019 17:54

Ouch. What a giveaway. No idea of the day to day reality that women face.

TheInebriati · 09/06/2019 17:57

Was that tweeted before or after the two lesbians were attacked on a bus? Its been all over social media, I can't imagine many woman have missed it.

AnyOldPrion · 09/06/2019 18:00

The same Bex Stinson who denied being attached to Stonewall, whilst simultaneously being on their website as Head of Inclusion and listed on LinkedIn with the same title?

toomanyleavesonthattree · 09/06/2019 18:02

Head of Inclusion? When in that tweet they apparently forgot that women exist?

You cant' make this crap up

SunsetBeetch · 09/06/2019 18:03

TheInebriarti it was actually tweeted in relation to that incident.

Seems to have deleted the tweet now, but I saw it at the time.

Yes, all the people who took issue with it had not grasped the context. Hmm

Not sure if this person has ever even met a woman. I can only presume they were taking a sabbatical on another planet when "me too" started. Oh and they can piss off.

toomanyleavesonthattree · 09/06/2019 18:12

Perhaps because straight and CIS women people do experience all those things he talks about?

OP posts:
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/06/2019 18:14

Oh no, I'm sure it's not that. The obvious explanation is that Bex is much cleverer than all the fools not grasping whatever Bex was trying to say.

[wanders off to bang head against wall a few times]

CaptainBrickbeard · 09/06/2019 18:16

I came on to see if someone had started a thread about this. It is quite possibly the most unbelievable tweet I have ever seen (since Ash Sarker posted that Julie Bindel had never done anything for incarcerated women). To just delete it without addressing how staggeringly wrong and stupid it is, is so infuriating! How on earth could anyone believe that straight women aren’t abused by men for rejecting their advances? I absolutely cannot fathom what was in this person’s head when they tweeted that AT ALL.

ACertainRation · 09/06/2019 18:20

In the week that two lesbians were beaten for not putting on a show for men Shock impeccable timing; I hope that tweet is shared for and wide

SomeDyke · 09/06/2019 18:22

Yet again stonewall has someone writing about lesbians who hasn't a clue because there is zero overlap in that venn diagram. Straight women of course would totally understand this and I'll stand with my actual sisters anytime.

OrchidInTheSun · 09/06/2019 18:23

Bed Stinson is a complete TRA. Doesn't want gender neutral toilets because they're just not validating enough.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 09/06/2019 18:31

How gobsmackingly tone deaf. Almost incredible, although there's a lot of tone deafness coming from AWA sources.

It's very striking how few men who claim to identify as women actually have any interest in or empathy with us lowly cunty types.

RubberTreePlant · 09/06/2019 18:38

Bex Stinson is a colossal misogynstic arsehole.

nonsenceagain · 09/06/2019 19:02

This can’t be real, can it?

GrinitchSpinach · 09/06/2019 19:09

Breathtakingly obtuse.

Popchyk · 09/06/2019 19:12

Leaving the staggering lack of insight into what women actually go through at the hands of men...

Two lesbian women are beaten up by a group of men.

So Stinson's first thought is to berate straight women about that, who you'd think have nothing at all to do with the incident being described. So it is somehow our fault for not experiencing it according to Stinson.

But don't worry - we can atone for our sins. Which is the real point of the Tweet. "So, this is Pride month, remember" starts Stinson.

BS is effectively saying that the words straight and cis convey the most privilege and since BS identifies and trans and queer (despite being what we used to call a straight male), then that makes BS more oppressed than the women beaten up because they were only lesbians and not trans. See?

"Pride matters" states BS at the end of the Tweet. Therefore all women, lesbian and straight, must focus on the oppression of straight males since they are the most oppressed of all women.

I mean JFC.

It is Olympic level male mindset and male entitlement.
