Any support you could show him on twitter that he attended this event would be great. He even apologised for misgendering the bearded human with a penis who attacked a woman.

Doesn't condemn the piece of shit's actions. But apologises for using the person's biological pronoun instead of adopted one.

OP posts:

Have you seen his latest tweet? I think he's cracking under the pressure...

Green MSP forced to apologise for attending women's rights event
StealthPolarBear · 07/06/2019 20:06

He was expected to apologise? That is dreadful.
If he'd been to an lgbt rights talk would he have had to apologise?

RoyalCorgi · 07/06/2019 20:10

Had to laugh at "Hmm, sounds like Wightman privilege to me."

Also Glinner's tweet: "yes, could you ask your captors to post a photograph of you, alive, with today's newspaper?"

TheInebriati · 07/06/2019 20:11

He's a politician and he has no right to tell the people who's rights will be removed by by new legislation to fuck off Angry

EverardDigby · 07/06/2019 20:14

"U ok hun?" (to second tweet) GrinGrinGrin

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 07/06/2019 20:16

I feel for him. His tweets about the meeting were initially relatively positive. I suspect the High Misogynist Patrick Harvie has had a word.

As the OP says I think he was forced - the "statement" doesn't actually include any of his own thoughts.

DrSusan · 07/06/2019 20:16

I'm sorry, I've got very little sympathy. I was pleased when he turned up to the event. Good for him, standing up to the woke stasi in the Scottish greens. But this statement is just bollocks. If he's scared because he's been piled on by TRAs, it shouldn't take much bloody imagination to think how Julie Bindel felt when that maniac lunged at her. Or how many of the women attending that meeting and others felt because of what has happened at previous meetings, and online threats before meetings. Sorry but he can piss off with his craven grovelling.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 07/06/2019 20:17

I agree it is a bit sad that he values his job over standing up for women, but I don't think he is unusual in that respect.

JackyHolyoake · 07/06/2019 20:21

I am very interested to know what is meant by reform of GRA "in line with best international practice". Which "international best practice" would that be then? Could the Green Party please provide the relevant comparators?

Is it "best practice" in relation to Ireland or Argentina or Malta or where?

XXVaginaAndAUterus · 07/06/2019 20:21

He's getting pretty much universal grief in the replies though.

Good. He must have splinters in his star from sitting on the fence.

StealthPolarBear · 07/06/2019 20:22

That consultation has never reported anyway. It must be taking a very long time to analyse

JackyHolyoake · 07/06/2019 20:22

Very well said, DrSusan.

FloralBunting · 07/06/2019 20:24

I wonder if I will ever be able to respect the Green Party again.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 07/06/2019 20:28

I'm guessing the Yogyakarta principles? They seem to get regularly trotted out.

Michelleoftheresistance · 07/06/2019 20:30

Craven idiot.

DrSusan · 07/06/2019 20:44

I have to confess to being far less forthright when responding to him on Twitter @jackyholyoake!

JackyHolyoake · 07/06/2019 20:55

I'm guessing the Yogyakarta principles?

Except that the " Yogyakarta Principles" document has no legal meaning anywhere in the world, so cannot be construed as "best practice" by anyone anywhere. It is not recognised or adopted by UN or any other global organisation or any country. It is nothing more than a wish list drafted by a few people with a vested interest in it.

Well, all us females generally modify our behaviour in the company of men, mainly for our own safety and wellbeing.

That's the joy of a women's space, eh? We can express ourselves how we need to. Flowers

I agree but

The Scottish Government expressed the view in the consultation that the Yogyakarta Principles, in particular Principle 3 (right to recognition before the law), embody best practice in relation to legal gender recognition processes permitting trans people to seek legal recognition in the gender in which they live.

AncientLights · 07/06/2019 21:19

I seem to recall Theresa May describing the Yogyakarta Principals as best international practice too. So who writes these speeches/ papers then? Not the politicians but their civil servants. And I wonder who has trained them? I think we know.

There have been some threads about this before:

ScrimshawTheSecond · 07/06/2019 22:29

Oh, my word.

Mr Wightman, you're an elected representative. Have some respect for your constituents and the general public. Telling people to 'fuck off' on Twitter just makes you look ridiculous.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 07/06/2019 22:31

Also, this seems apposite:

Craven grovelling coward.

Do your job that you take money for.

Do it properly. Or stop whining and resign
