I'm thinking of the oft quoted phrase that men are scared women will laugh at them and women are scared that men will kill them.

I'm in my car in a supermarket car park and and a bloke nearby is shouting really loudly. I actually think it's light hearted banter with someone he knows, and my sensible brain knows I'm not really at risk.

And yet, my heart is racing and I have a sense of fear. I've slunk low in my seat to avoid being seen.

everyday behaviour that men probably don't even notice.

All of the above really. I didn't realise until recently that whenever I am on my own instead of with DH, especially at night I am on alert and constantly thinking of how I would react if things happened. Its almost..instinct. I don't even purposely think about it, I just do.

+1 to groups of loud, drunk men. I'm always on high alert if I see any in the streets and I always breathe a sigh of relief once I'm safely out of range. And I'm not naturally fearful.

spiders

And all the above. I feel safe at home as it is a flat not on the ground floor. But at mum's it is scary on my own
