That was an awesome speech. The investigation should take 1 min 2 seconds. 1 min to read the speech and 2 seconds to tell the complainant to fuck off.

GassyAss · 05/06/2019 17:40

FFS.

AccioWine · 05/06/2019 17:44

And Heather Brunskell-Evans, according to her Twitter.
A concerted effort perhaps?

Seriously most of the country should turn themselves in then.

Melroses · 05/06/2019 17:48

Is someone spamming the police with reports?

MuthaFunka61 · 05/06/2019 17:49

Another FFS!

This is ridiculous, when're WYP gonna give their heads a wobble and tell the complainants to stop wasting police time?

Kilbranan · 05/06/2019 17:52

WYP again! What a surprise Hmm

DaisiesAreOurSilver · 05/06/2019 17:52

It really is time the police grew some balls and told them to piss off.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 05/06/2019 17:54

Not when they are in bed with the complainants (surely?)

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 05/06/2019 18:22

Thanks Apollo, just re-read Sarah's speech

every damn word of it was true. anyone who considers that to be hate speech is totally bonkers.

Melroses · 05/06/2019 18:26

Moving version Smile

Melroses · 05/06/2019 18:27

Or rather, here Blush

Treefloof · 05/06/2019 18:38

Fucking hell, the world will stop turning soon. How the hell is that speech hate? Sheesh.

FloralBunting · 05/06/2019 18:41

Ah, good old West Yorkshire Patriarchy on the job again.

Never had a vexatious complaint against a woman with an opinion that they didn't embrace with glee. Those boys and their truncheons!

BadgertheBodger · 05/06/2019 18:48

I would be genuinely interested to know a) how many women work for WYP overall and b) how many women work specifically in the “investigating spurious complaints of hate incident team”. That’s the right name for the team yes? Will have a look.

MilletSentToForceIt · 05/06/2019 18:49

Bloody Leeds. My son went there 7 years ago and I disliked it then, and dislike it more now. It has always given me the creeps. Apologies to anyone who lives there, just my personal view.

The speech by Sarah Field was awesome. The incident she referred to, regarding a six year old girl, was totally shocking and I don’t understand how anyone could read that and not believe that the whole Trans business, and make no mistake that’s what it is, is not totally misogynistic.

I’ve just supported Harry The Owl with half of a weeks wages (I only earn £100) so not lots of money but if Cllr Field needs some funds I will send her the other half and dip into my savings.

I am so angry I am in tears. I have thought about that child every day since reading Sarah’s speech.

Floisme · 05/06/2019 18:51

I don't object to a police force investigating complaints. I imagine they are required to do so and, in any case, I think it's important to respond to allegations.

However given the relationship between West Yorkshire Police and organisations such as Mermaids, I would expect WYP to give some thought as to who undertakes the investigation as I am sure they will be keen to avoid any. risk of a conflict of interest.

As both the speeches concerned are in the public domain, I would not expect the investigation to take long and, that I trust they will announce their findings very speedily.

I would also hope that WYP have a policy concerning vexatious complaints.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 05/06/2019 18:59

How do police complaints work? Who decides what is investigated?

GrinitchSpinach · 05/06/2019 19:00

They're escalating lately, aren't they? I think this is evidence that Field and B-E have struck a very tender nerve. Some parties opposed to women's and children's rights are aware that if these powerful, logical voices get a wider airing, they will sway the broader public.

Onward, women!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 05/06/2019 19:05

Well a snake gets rattled when it’s cornered.

Redshoeblueshoe · 05/06/2019 19:07

Yes I agree.

Ereshkigal · 05/06/2019 19:11

Yes I saw that discussion on Twitter too.
