Well worth a read (and it's still getting added to so worth watching).

Whittle suggesting the government do what the city of London has done and disregard 50k responses...

This twitter thread made my morning.

So much joy to choose from.

I loved the speaker removing their labour because of the misgendering by the evil security guard who was quickly removed. But also the wispy beard (definitely no such thing as pcos as a possible explanation if one truly believes that this is a beard and not an attempt at a shadow).

Plus transbladders. Absolutely hysterical concept.

Cwenthryth · 26/05/2019 09:46

Wait, missed that implication, so now all women that have any hint of facial hair are actually not women at all, but special non-binaries? Isn’t that....erm....just about all of us?

donquixotedelamancha · 26/05/2019 09:48

the hosts gathered on the stage and informed us very sombrely that a misgendering incident had taken place and made a deep apology, whilst acknowledging that an apology was not sufficient for the violence of misgendering someone.

It's like he didn't see their short hair. Thank goodness the (minimum wage, zero hours contract) security guard was fired for the violence of referring to a female academic as 'she'. Hopefully he'll understand how Privileged he is now. Still at least it generated some publicity for their breast removal fundraiser.

*N.B. There is actually only one person referred to here. For now you are still permitted to use correct grammar in your head, just don't say it out loud where someone may hear you.

BreakWindandFire · 26/05/2019 09:50

I think I know who the 'trans saint' is...

It's St Wilgefortis. She was a beautiful woman who had taken a vow of virginity. Her father arranged a marriage and so she prayed to God to be made repulsive to men. God heard her prayer and she woke up the next day with a full beard, which made her father so angry he crucified her!

I knew my Catholic education would come in useful one day.

donquixotedelamancha · 26/05/2019 09:50

pen.org/everyone-is-a-little-trans/

Does anyone enjoy Vogon poetry?

donquixotedelamancha · 26/05/2019 09:55

Lo said effectively that the City of London had 'won' the consultation and that transwomen would be allowed to use the pond. Lo also said that a lot of the responses to the consultation had to be discounted because they were "uncompleted responses".

Hmm. I wonder which viewpoint had the most responses discarded?

BreakWindandFire · 26/05/2019 09:59

Hmm. I wonder which viewpoint had the most responses discarded?

I've put in a FOI asking for a breakdown by sex of these discarded responses.

donquixotedelamancha · 26/05/2019 10:01

Thank you PlayYouLikeAShark. That thread is.... special.

I've put in a FOI asking for a breakdown by sex of these discarded responses.

:-) I do like FWR.

LangCleg · 26/05/2019 10:04

I keep thinking of Caligula attempting to make his horse a consul.

The thread is completely bonkers - but, in all seriousness, emblematic of an onanistic elite fiddling while Rome burns.

BreakWindandFire · 26/05/2019 10:05

I'm struggling to see how the security guard 'misgendered' someone in direct conversation as pronouns wouldn't normally be used.

Was it a case of
"Hello, where's the conference?",
"It's over there Miss"
"I'm a transmasc non binary otherkin with massive breasts. How dare you assume I"m a woman!"

terryleather · 26/05/2019 10:13

I don't even know where to start with that thread - the narcissism, the solipsism, the disappearing-up-yer-own-fundament levels of self involvement...Sonic's right, it is gold.

And so beautifully encapsulated by our old friend Travis right at the end.

I think it's more sinister than that.

I'm imagining a non-binary femme in stilletos stamping on a human face -forever...

donquixotedelamancha · 26/05/2019 10:25

Given the reference to using a female pronoun and that the female academic identifies as a they and not a she- I assume he referred to her as 'she' to a colleague while processing entry and then had the temerity to answer back to his better when told off.

Literal violence indeed.

Michelleoftheresistance · 26/05/2019 10:43

in all seriousness, emblematic of an onanistic elite fiddling while Rome burns.

Nail on the head.

Way too many people with not enough else to do or think about, living on their computers and lost inside the realms of their own backsides. The last time society got this up itself the reality shock was WW1. If Brexit ends with a cliff edge exit and the food shortages start biting no one is going to give a monkeys about special labels and authentic selves and whether sex is truly binary.

I tend to automatically tune out anything Whittle says, Whittle has a highly personal agenda in despising and rejecting women and seeing men as the master race. I've known no few TM who see women as victims and so were desperate to identify into the more powerful group. Other people's mental distortions do not reality make.

LangCleg · 26/05/2019 11:00

Quite.

LangCleg · 26/05/2019 11:02

At some point, the pitchforks are going to come for these idiots. And it won't be feminists brandishing them.

ThePurportedDoctoress · 26/05/2019 11:07

SW said mixed sex sleeping arrangements weren't a big deal because Girl Guide leaders can just give them condoms or emergency contraception

What? And now Stephen is suggesting that the best way to deal with the GRA consultation responses is to disqualify those awful MNers, because we are the mad people?!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/05/2019 11:09

Is the misgendered person an academic? This is the bio on Twitter:

@MelzDot
👑♋️ | A Trans-Masculine Butterfly 🦋| Decolonial Theorist | TEDx & International Speaker | Writer | Baby Boi | They/Them

Followed by the inevitable link to a crowdfunder to get 'top surgery'.

I see no academic affiliation.

TinselAngel · 26/05/2019 11:17

and Whittle gave an example of transwoman who had been put through the mill because obtaining a GRC would mean having to admit to their husband they weren't born a female.

This is pure fiction surely? I cannot believe a man could marry a woman and not know they were trans.

If it is true, what a terrible betrayal by the trans person. To enter into a marriage with somebody under entirely false pretences. I wonder if that would be grounds for declaring the marriage invalid?

donquixotedelamancha · 26/05/2019 11:18

Is the misgendered person an academic?

Sorry, I misspelled- that should have been 'academic'.

I have no clue what word to use for what people like this actually do, so decided easier to be generous based on the decolonial theorist self description and the fact that it was an academic conference; mostly to save me writing plurals for one person- doing so makes my brain itch.

donquixotedelamancha · 26/05/2019 11:19

I cannot believe a man could marry a woman and not know they were trans.

It should have been a clue when she carried him over the threshold.

TinselAngel · 26/05/2019 11:22

It should have been a clue when she carried him over the threshold.

Funnily enough, my ex tried to carry me over the threshold and failed (there were steep steps up to the door and we were about the same size anyway).

I should have known then.

Michelleoftheresistance · 26/05/2019 11:31

Whittle has also advocated that the concept of bodily autonomy should be overturned, so that if you discover during sex that the person you are in bed with has in fact deceived you as to their biological sex, you should have no legal recourse. Because this 'outs' the person who has so little respect for you that they have tried to have sex with you under false pretences. Honesty, reciprocity, empathy, other people having any kind of rights - all under the bus.

You can seriously only believe in this megalomaniac world which divides people into the users and the used if you have the kind of personality/values and morals that would make the relationships board advise you to LTB and run. Far away. The hills are that way.

Michelleoftheresistance · 26/05/2019 11:33

that would make the relationships board advise you others to LTB and run.

VickyEadie · 26/05/2019 11:41

This is pure fiction surely? I cannot believe a man could marry a woman and not know they were trans.

I've been saying 'bullshit' to that claim ever since I saw it last night.

Bullshit. It's all part of the 'people can't tell if we're transpeople, not even in bed' nonsense.
