Abortion doesn’t involve women- according to Thinx

(Hopefully) I've added a screenshot of Thinx CEOs statement on the current situation regarding abortion in Alabama.

Not once during this statement about abortion does she mention the only people it actually affects.

Of course it is emphasised how this especially affects transpeople (those will be women then). Of course. They can say trans. But they can’t say women.

Woman is now a dirty word they dare not speak.

Callmejudith · 22/05/2019 09:50

How likely is it for a trans man on medication to even get pregnant? Surely the hormones inhibit ovulation?

Annasgirl · 22/05/2019 09:52

Oh dear Lord, so abortion affects Trans and non binary people most ?????

I am beyond being outraged anymore but do these people get paid to write this?

Are Thinx a trans organisation?

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 22/05/2019 09:52

A trans man isn't necessarily on medication. There have been cases of trans men giving birth.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 22/05/2019 09:52

Thinx can’t even say the word. They are awful

ILoveMaxiBondi · 22/05/2019 09:55

I don’t know much about the company or who runs it but their products are all menstruation products! Like period pants. For, umm, women.

What cowards. Angry

It's really quite something that they will stand up for abortion rights, but are too scared to say 'women'.

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 22/05/2019 10:06

Ugh.

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 22/05/2019 10:08

apparently it doesn't matter if 'women' is missing, we are all humans and that's what matters. So I have been told this week. By a woman. With regard to childbirth. Not important to mention women, no siree.

NotTerfNorCis · 22/05/2019 10:12

Why are trans people disproportionately affected by anti-abortion laws? The TW won't be, for starters.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 22/05/2019 10:12

Fucking hell weeping.

So has the word “man” disappeared from everything too? Because we’re all just humans.

God, the narcissism is staggering.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 22/05/2019 10:14

I don’t understand how trans people could be disproportionately affected by this policy. I can see that pregnant transmen will be affected, but disproportionately? Does the policy specify that transmen are to have extra hoops to jump through to procure an abortion?

OP posts:
BlueCornishPixie · 22/05/2019 10:19

How are 'trans and non-binary folk' more affected?

It's alright to force a woman through a pregnancy she doesn't want, but not okay to force a trans man/non-binary? Because that's basically what it's suggesting. That transmen can't cope with unwanted pregnancy but for some reason other women are expected to be able to

Redshoeblueshoe · 22/05/2019 10:20

Oh God I don't even want to know who Fur you is

BlueCornishPixie · 22/05/2019 10:20

'All people with periods' ffs

TheInebriati · 22/05/2019 10:20

Do they mean that a trans man would have to state they are pregnant (and therefore female) to obtain one, which would trigger their dysphoria, and they consider that disproportionate compared to what women have to do?

If I said on Twitter that 'only women can get pregnant', I could be accused of transphobia and forced to delete the tweet for hate speech against a protected group.

Wenttoseainasieve · 22/05/2019 10:22

I really want to buy from thinx, but just can't because of this sort of thing. They sell period pants ffs. For women.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 22/05/2019 10:23

Oh God I don't even want to know who Fur you is

Oh I didn’t even spot that!

Although I did laugh at the first sentence
Is nothing short of an assault on the fundamental right to bodily autonomy . . . . .
I know how that feels

littlbrowndog · 22/05/2019 10:26

Trans and non binary FOLX. WTAF is a folx.

Women the word that must never be said

RoyalCorgi · 22/05/2019 10:53

Once again they're conflating trans people with women of colour. It's that sleight of hand that they hope you won't notice. Yes, women of colour are disproportionately affected by restrictive abortion laws. But where's the evidence that trans men and "non binary" people are disproportionately affected?

bigkidsdidit · 22/05/2019 10:57

Wentto ModiBodi also sell period pants and don’t say things like this

LetsSplashMummy · 22/05/2019 11:07

In order to be "disproportionately affected," they must be grouping trans and NB people in with BAME people. This is minimising the very real problems faced by BAME women in order to "share," the problem with other groups.

This is similar to reducing the rate of violence between the sexes by moving some blokes into the women's category.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 22/05/2019 11:23

Missing off the word woman doesn't bother me much, as it's bloody obvious, but stating that trans and non binary "folx" are dispropportionately affected? Just factually incorrect nonsense.
