Well not quite all - I suppose I should add where it’s come from

What a pleasure to have been sent this photo & be told that Corbyn is willing to discuss changes to the GRA with women. #gra #womensrights

Is he really prepared to discuss actual Women’s rights though? Or just the variety who feel like a woman?

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 07/05/2019 08:11

It’s still a great photo Grin

Dyrne · 07/05/2019 08:13

I really, really want to get my hopes up and think this is the start of something positive...

In reality I’m waiting for the shrieking to start and the inevitable grovelling apology for daring to even consider that women may actually be worth something.

EweSurname · 07/05/2019 08:18

Still waiting for John McDonnell to make good on his offer to discuss this with women so probably a wise stance to take

Goodness.

Sharron Davies is shining a light on how some labour representatives are behaving - retweeting something about Tanya Love and Lily Madigan

John McDonnell has met with WPUK.

Need to get Dawn Butler snuggled elsewhere before Labour make any real progress on this issue - her palms are too greasy after that fancy all expenses paid trip.

Apologies if you catch cooties from reading Guido Fawkes Grin

John McDonnell DID meet with women's place UK. He also follows a number of gender critical people on twitter. I know what i guess his views are.

I wish you guys would stop joining in the game of "lets blame the labour leadership for everything bad that ever happened".

It is our job to make it possible for politicians to speak out without it being political suicide.

EweSurname · 07/05/2019 08:58

Sorry, my mistake!

No. If you’re an MP passing laws, let alone a cabinet member, it is your job to speak out, not to keep your head down while ordinary women are arrested, abused and fired for voicing opinions.

Floisme · 07/05/2019 09:13

Sorry - shadow cabinet minister.
I’m so tired of elected politicians hiding away while women do the work.

LangCleg · 07/05/2019 09:16

I wish you guys would stop joining in the game of "lets blame the labour leadership for everything bad that ever happened".

What's the practical difference between after the revolution, love and woman is a feeling in a man's head?

Until women make it entirely clear that Labour has more to lose by abandoning women than by abandoning its Woke activist base, no difference.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 07/05/2019 09:30

Coca-Cola is legall considered a person !

I must remember that legal truth!

tobee · 07/05/2019 15:41

I would say it's the Labour leadership job to prove that they are not responsible for everything bad that's ever happened, surely? It's not our job to do anything for them. Fairly basic part of politics.

tobee · 07/05/2019 15:43

Call me a cynic, but at the moment, that photo just smacks of Corbyn appearing to appeal to everyone. Until he sorts out all women short lists in Labour for a kick off, I'll remain sceptical.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/05/2019 15:53

I wonder if there's now someone advising JC to disclaim responsibility for the views of someone posing with him? (Cf Jordan Peterson/islamophobic t-shirt wearer).

Let's wait and see what, if anything, follows...

untoldstories · 07/05/2019 16:05

I think it was on The Andrew Marr show last year, around March last year that Jeremy Corbyn said he would listen to women's groups.
He still hasn't, maybe this will remind him...

Michelleoftheresistance · 07/05/2019 16:11

If he realised what was on her bag - and he'll deny it any minute now - then it was an extremely cynical move since he's been quite open about his misogyny and about women's place being under the bus thus far. Not quite that stupid thanks Jeremy, despite the pink brain.

MockerstheFeManist · 07/05/2019 16:13

I think we're all past Peak Corbyn by now, espcially the Young Pro-Remainers.

BettyDuMonde · 07/05/2019 16:31

There have been various motions (both pro self ID and anti) going up through branch and constituency labour parties, along with various high level trade unionists expressing concern with self ID, and the pending court case re: AWS (I just can’t see how they can logically justify the existence of AWS AND include self-IDing transpeople. One argument will nullify the other. Restricting AWS to those with the legal status of ‘female’ or ending AWS entirely are the only ways out of the corner they are backed into).

Labour high ups will also be aware of what is happening with the SNP, as well as the changes in official guidelines for prisons.
Plus, Len McClusky signed the ‘transphobic’ letter published in the Morning Star.

The political landscape is quite different to how it was during conference season, a lot has happened in 6 months. Look at that Momentum video - it’s initial airing on Twitter was met with tons of praise, the second time, months later, lots of well thought out, politely phrased criticism (and some mocking).

Regarding the photo - I suspect Corbyn makes the exact same photo face regardless of who is standing next to him.
I wouldn’t read anything into it, personally, but I bet there are some livid TRAs because of it.

Luckily for us, they show themselves up when they are angry, and thus far, ‘Magic Granddad’ hasn’t felt the wrath.

MissEyre · 07/05/2019 16:55

Hm, I remember one which didn't have quite the same look but I'm not sure what emotion it conveyed.

NoseringGirl · 07/05/2019 18:14

I'm assuming the usual suspects have kicked off about it and demanded Corbyn denounces witches... I mean women immediately?
Will be interesting to see what he does.

ByGrabtharsHammarWhatASaving · 07/05/2019 21:02

He might as well throw his lot in with us. He's already said he backs the Nordic model which, as we all know, is as bad as saying you hope all sex workers die or something. If he thinks he can pass self-ID and swerve transphobia accusations, he's going to be disappointed when he finds himself up against a brick wall of sex-worker-phobia accusations 5 minutes later, and latest-crazy-demand-phobia 5 minutes after that. I'm guessing he doesn't actually want his entire political career dictated by shouty twitter morons, so he might as well drop them now while he still has a chance to win back his core voting demographic.
