Hm, I remember one which didn't have quite the same look but I'm not sure what emotion it conveyed.

I think it was his ‘Why am I in this selfie with Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden?’ face.

teawamutu · 08/05/2019 07:30

Where is the outcry and the 'educate yourself' and the 'do better'? Am I missing something?

EweSurname · 08/05/2019 08:18

It certainly provides an interesting compare and contrast moment for the next time someone (inevitably a woman) dares to consort with the wrong sort

It's absolutely clear that Corbyn is constantly asked to stand here and stand there and have a photo taken every time he is seen anywhere, and that he most definitely did not see what was written on that bag.

How could he, from that angle?

Great photo, though, glad someone took it.

Ereshkigal · 09/05/2019 16:55

I love how prominent the bag is.

Ereshkigal · 09/05/2019 18:19

The Twitter thread is quite funny, someone trying to claim that the metadata says the photo was taken in 2017 when this wasn't such a hot topic (speak for yourself mate). And others pointing out that Posie would have to have had a time machine to post the bag back to 2017 Grin

How is that people like Corbyn and McDonnell, who have spent their careers speaking out for sometimes extremely unpopular causes, cannot stand up to a bunch of shouty blue-haired children? I just don’t get it.

NoseringGirl · 09/05/2019 21:28

I wonder if it's because a lot of their support comes from young people? Students that sing "oh Jeremy Corbyn" are also the same group that are buying into gender identity.

Or maybe they just don't know a lot about it? I have a couple of friends who are big labour/momentum supporters and they weren't very aware of any of this, had never heard of Lily Madigan etc. It seemed unbelievable to me, they're both educated blokes and generally quite politically aware. It just wasn't on their radars. I imagine not least of all because they're men.

BlackForestCake · 09/05/2019 21:55

It’s not actually the Corbynites leading the trans offensive though, as far as I can make out? The most militant TWAW-ers are the Liberals, Greens and various Blairite types. Then there's a big gap and you get the anarchists and luxury-communism nuts who wouldn't spit on the liberals if they were on fire, but are happy to join them in fighting “terfs”.

Ereshkigal · 09/05/2019 21:57

I don't agree. There are plenty of Corbynites involved, to my knowledge.

DuMondeB · 10/05/2019 11:24

There is an excellent thread in a 16k member Labour Party facebook at the moment - a transwoman shared that bonkers MayDay article about the women with their AHF banner and almost all of the comments are pro women and criticising TRA ideology. The GC arguments are strong, rational and polite and the TRAs have just copied and pasted the same shrill responses over and over. Lots of men posting in solidarity with women, LM described as an ‘embarrassment to the party’.
Mods have banned the use of the word T**f too. Eventually comments were turned off, but it’s very clear that the majority of people interacting were pro GC - the GC comments have multiple likes, the TRAs don’t. Links were shared to Ann Ruzylo’s Twitter, to Sonia Poulton, to articles reporting on the comments made by Joan McAlpine.

Multiple posters refuted that the dictionary definition of ‘woman’ was transphobic. It was pointed out that Marx and Engels would be called terves by today’s TRAs.

This would’ve been unimaginable 6 months ago - TWAW would’ve parroted and the mods wouod’ve been harangued into deleting dissent (and probably have deleted the entire thing, rather than locking it and leaving it for posterity). TRAs attempting to intimidate a black, lesbian, socialist, caught on camera, during a John McDonnell speech = a bit fucking much. Finally.

People are waking up.

As a complete aside, can I just say that while I find Terf a profoundly ugly word, in look, sound and intent, I am rather fond of the recently coined plural 'terves'. It puts me in mind of Middle Earth and Dwarves and Elves...

NeurotrashWarrior · 10/05/2019 11:31

Sharron Davis thread is amazing!

Watching / reading people learn about AGP.

teawamutu · 10/05/2019 11:51

DuMondeB is it closed? I'd love to see it...

AverageAvenger · 10/05/2019 12:07

It’s not my job to do anything for politicians.

Yes! I proper love ‘terves’ - not only because of all the things you say above FloralB, but also because pluralising it according to usual grammar rules (hoof/hooves dwarf/dwarves) demonstrates how terf isn’t being used as the innocent acronym that anti woman activists claim it to be - if it were, the plural would be ‘TERFs’.

Teawamatu - this might be a direct link - not sure if it’s viewable if you aren’t a group member:..
