I'm going to order a roll of them.

I already some of those!

If being female and demanding our rights is transphobic then I'd say that definition of transphobia is a pile of wank.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/05/2019 12:50

A spokesperson from the Equality Network said: “Single-sex women’s toilets are legally open to all women, including trans women

Hmm
SuperLoudPoppingAction · 03/05/2019 12:52

Are scotrail toilets really unisex?
In the stations?

Are they using the number of toilets on trains to fudge that statistic?

I've not seen any unisex toilets in transit stations other than at Victoria coach station.

The word unisex is deeply problematic though, I'm quite sure. Has anyone asked gregor Murray for a statement?

Andoffwegoagain · 03/05/2019 12:52

I’ve seen these in toilets in a park in Hertfordshire

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/05/2019 12:55

According to TRAs, and according to those who follow guidelines produced by TRAs, all toilets are mixed sex.

nauticant · 03/05/2019 12:55

This got a genuine LOL out of me:

Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull [said] “I am frankly astounded that anyone would even question a woman’s right to do this. As for the Human Rights and Equality Commission not endorsing these stickers, I have no idea what that means.”

A train company would be able to say most of the toilets are unisex because the ones on the actual trains are.

SuperLoud

I first read the start of your post as....Are SCROTAL toilets really unisex.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 03/05/2019 13:23

Lunabody please don't plop links and run.

Which opinions have I aired on this thread that I should be ashamed of?

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 03/05/2019 13:25

I quite like the idea of subvertising posters with 'scrotal' instead of scotrail Tbh.
They are hard to like.

I'm not ashamed of that.
I won't be in 20 years.
They should put more staff on their late night trains and ensure drunk idiots aren't able to distress other passengers.

TransposersArePosers · 03/05/2019 13:38

But Lunabody those links conflate sex and gender:

'If you’re a transsexual person, you mustn’t be excluded from separate or single sex services provided to people of your chosen gender'

Gender and sex are not the same. Humans cannot change sex. Transwomen are human adults of the male sex, therefore should use the services provided for male people, surely, where single sex exemptions apply?

beenandgoneandbackagain · 03/05/2019 13:38

Just for information, to Lunabody, I'm actually ashamed that much less than 20 years ago:

  1. I promoted and supported Pride, marched with my friends and was even a speaker at a Pride event. Now I know that women who want same-sex relationships with other women are no longer welcome at Pride events, there is quite a lot of anger mixed in with the shame.
  1. That I fell for the TWAW bullshit despite the very obvious mental health issues in many of the transwomen I met.
  1. That I didn't know true gender dysphoria in males is rare, but autogynephilia is relatively common.

I hope that in 2 years time Lunabody has also come to the same level of understanding and will hold similar disgust that women were thrown under a bus so men could get their wank-fodder.

I love the stickers - where can I order a reel of them?

youkiddingme · 03/05/2019 13:43

“The legalistic language was very striking. I checked the other stalls to see if they had the stickers too, but they didn’t.”

so one women only toilet was one too many

FissionChips · 03/05/2019 13:43

Where do we buy them?

FloralBunting · 03/05/2019 13:51

You can hope that we will all think that women have no rights or protections specific to their sex in twenty years if you want.

We'll just carry on being women's liberationists, and campaigning to keep those rights and protections. Go well.

AlwaysComingHome · 03/05/2019 14:09

Twenty years from now I won’t give a shit who’s using which toilets because I’ll have a jet-powered Zimmer frame and be pissing behind a cloud.

Galvantula · 03/05/2019 14:18

Comments on the Tully website below the story seem to also support the sticker. 👍

(Telegraph will always be the Tully in my head, as I always heard the newspaper sellers shouting when i was visiting Dundee as a bairn. Grin )

GassyAss · 03/05/2019 14:23

It’s hard to believe people would go out of their way, and spend money, to police other people’s gender identity.

Without wishing to sounds like a child, they started it first. Perhaps if women has been asked about self-ID before implementation we wouldn’t have to fund campaigning against it.

GassyAss · 03/05/2019 14:24

Stickers can be bought via Standing for Women website. Very reasonable they are too.

Datun · 03/05/2019 14:32

At some point you lot will catch up, and in twenty years time will look back on yourselves with disgust at the opinions you currently hold

Yeah, men committing 98% of all sex crime and 90% of sex crimes happening in changing rooms being confined to the 10% that are mixed sex, isn't an opinion.

Unfortunately for both your daft assertion, and women in general.

StealthPolarBear · 03/05/2019 14:38

A spokesperson from the Equality Network said: “Single-sex women’s toilets are legally open to all women, including trans women.

Wtf?! Have some people lost the ability to comprehend?

Genderfreelass · 03/05/2019 14:40

Totally agree with this sticker which is an accurate representation of EA2010. Extremely disappointed with the Scotrail response. Unisex toilets especially at night when few people are about are not safe for women and girls. I hope scotrail have carried out appropriate risk assessments if they are no longer providing single sex facilities. Insurance company would also need notifying as any claims arising from this would probably not be covered if they haven't.
