OP posts:

Have any of these complaints/threats ever been upheld?

No. None of the court cases, none of the press complaints but (as you rightly imply) that isn't the point, is it?

The months of people's time, huge cost and understandable worry which follow each of these complaints is a goal in itself.

Belcher never really thought IPSO would stop a journalist commenting on an attack about them, she* just wanted to cause as much harm as possible.

Quite.

donquixotedelamancha · 25/04/2019 20:28

One glance at the profile pic and I knew I was on the right page.

Does anyone remember back when HB seemed like a bit of a nutter? These days she* feels like the moderate, sensible end of the TRA range.

I'm sure that people in Chippenham will form their own conclusions.

DM lives in Chips'n'ham. It's staunchly Conservative. Don't think it's going Belchers way anytime soon.

It's just a way of throwing implied influence around isn't it.

Flowers Janice
Flowers the Times
Hmm the Lib Dems

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 25/04/2019 20:47

Janice and The Times - thank you for standing up for free speech and facts. Intimidation will never win Flowers

AnyFucker · 25/04/2019 20:48

Happy Dayz Glitterball

OrchidInTheSun · 25/04/2019 20:52

Slippery - if you've never read Janice's column before you're in for a treat. She's great!

Daffopill · 25/04/2019 20:52

Has Belcher forgotten that women have the vote? Who is going to vote for this fud?

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 25/04/2019 21:15

Vile intimidatory tactics. I'm sick of them.

Not the best behaviour from someone wanting to be an MP.

The lib Dems are in a mess

hoteltango · 25/04/2019 21:25

If it wasn't for the damage to women's and girls' rights, then I'd just be merely fascinated by the psychology involved.

I admit I sniggered a bit about the last bit, because it sounded like "I'll shout and shout until it penetrates!" People like that seem to start off as very smug that their view is the only one of importance, but go immediately into a narcissistic rage when thwarted. There seems to be a cognitive dissonance (is that the right term?) between their thinking versus reality.

Flowers for Janice and The Times. Thank you for courageously speaking up.

GeordieGenes · 25/04/2019 21:31

When will the TRAs realize that these court cases, complaints, and so forth, are own goals?

If a real court case ever took the time to really examine this issue, the TRAs would have to define "man" and "woman", which they always refuse to do!

AnyOldPrion · 25/04/2019 21:45

Since the name has come up, I’ll just drop these Tweets in here. The first was in a conversation with a lesbian, during the “discussing the issue with women stage”, after TRA complaints within the party, and all the appearance of starting to see the problem. The second is Belcher”s Tweet after Pride, RT’d by His Lordship. And the third his rather coy and flirtatious comment about how much better Pride had been than he’d expected after he met the delectable HB and had a lovely warm hug.

Anyone would think it was almost like a gay man flirting with a transwoman. But of course, like so many other things, This Never Happens....

I feel a bit grubby now...

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 25/04/2019 21:49

Paddick must see something special in belcher that the rest of us can't.

AnyFucker · 25/04/2019 21:50

A dick ?

CharlieParley · 25/04/2019 22:02

Anyfucker LOL. Nice one.

SwearyPoppins · 25/04/2019 22:10

I saw Belcher speak at the Westminster Forum on Trans Health. Belcher is very keen to criticise the press on everything they say about trans issues but takes their word as gospel when they’re slagging off GC groups like Transgender Trend. Indeed Belcher quoted the press when Stephanie DA asked that Belcher retract comments calling TT transphobic.

Seems Belcher is learning the hard way that they can’t have it both ways.

AnyOldPrion · 25/04/2019 22:34

”Yes, I find that Belcher, Cook and Pascoe seem to have the same manner, talking differently to men than women.”

HandsOffMyRights’ comment is highly relevant, I suspect.

And apologies AnyFucker. I should delete those screenshots. Grubby is about right and exactly how I feel having posted them.

hoteltango · 25/04/2019 23:06

I'm not sure that you should get those screenshots deleted, AnyOldPrion. Yes, they're grubby, but they've been put in the public domain by those Twitter accounts. The last paragraph of your 21:45 post is particularly interesting and maybe sheds light on another similar alliance/relationship.

Popchyk · 25/04/2019 23:39

Yeah, the flirty gay man/transwoman thing is quite marked, isn't it? We're seeing it a lot.

Much gushing and flirtation from the gay man towards the male person who identifies as transgender. Coy little in-jokes and much admiration bestowed on the person who identifies as transgender.

One such proponent of the art sounds like an infatuated Georgette Heyer fop from 1812 in his language.

Feels like both parties are playing a role for which there is a rigidly-defined script, with both parties playing to the gallery. LARPing their way through Twitter.

Very marked difference in the way that they address women. Which is to move to immediate dismissal.

There's a PhD in analysing that stuff, I tell ya. I'll get on to Sally Hines immediately.

Datun · 25/04/2019 23:40

Saying you can't change sex is transphobic.

Do they have any idea how mad that sounds?

AnyOldPrion · 26/04/2019 06:09

Interesting turn for the thread, and apologies to the OP... just wondering whether both gay men are tilting at windmills in their attraction to self-declared lesbians...

AnyOldPrion · 26/04/2019 06:40

Also, as I looked into Belcher’s background to check the lesbian status, I discovered what I had half suspected: that Belcher is a late transitioning AGP.

The rise into politics and the whole boring-married-tran to brave-and-stunning-Tg(b)-heroine is particularly striking.

Found myself wondering how thrilled a narcissist would feel at the idea of having a Lord in thrall...

KatvonHostileExtremist · 26/04/2019 07:16

"We tackle the bullies"

I think this whole case beautifully illustrates who are the bullies here.

Well done Janice Flowers
