So the biggest issue for girls is not being allowed to do the same thing as boys. No wonder they often think becoming a boy is the best option. And then there's the sexual harassment......

“Girls want an equal world. They want an end to the gender stereotypes that limit their choices and ambitions. No subject at school or career path should feel out of reach to girls. They will champion equality throughout society, at local and national levels.”

Oh oh the irony from the GG that confirm gender stereotypes

LizzieSiddal · 25/04/2019 13:11

If their throwing Girls' dignity and safety under a bus wasn't so serious, that statement would be hilarious.

ChickenonaMug · 25/04/2019 13:14

Girls "want to enjoy activity spaces that are accessible to all girls and for women’s sport to be treated equally to men’s sport."

Hmmm... a great aim so as long as girls are happy to share their changing rooms with males and are willing to lose competitions to another competitor with a male physical advantage.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 25/04/2019 13:37

I really don't understand why no one at GG seems to be capable of joined up thinking

ChickenonaMug · 25/04/2019 14:01

They have decided upon their stance which is that "trans girls are not boys" and are now trying to fit everything around it including safeguarding and wellbeing concerns. Except it shouldn't work like that.

HumberElla · 25/04/2019 14:03

Girls "want to enjoy activity spaces that are accessible to all girls and for women’s sport to be treated equally to men’s sport

So blatantly disingenuous it hurts. Because any boy who wants to can now claim those spaces or compete as a girl if they choose to identify as such. But if you’re a girl who questions your gender, bye bye.

CharlieParley · 25/04/2019 14:51

Have you seen their frankly offensive worksheet on gender/stereotypes for the younger girl guides?

Has them collate all things boys and girls do or wear or like, fully expecting the answers to reflect stereotypes. And then advises the leader to tell their charges that some of those things can also be worn/done/liked by the opposite sex. Some!

It's one of the least useful approaches to tackling sex stereotyping I've come across.

ShiveringCoyote · 25/04/2019 15:11

Time for this

I'm sure they want to.

But with GG, the only ones who can access such spaces are those lucky enough to lack protected characteristics that aren't compatible with this political agenda. Those girls are fast running out of any activity spaces at all.

SarahTancredi · 26/04/2019 09:07

Want an end to stereo types but then admit boys who perform those stereotypes and expect them to be considered girls.

So girls, all that discrimination sexism and harassment is down to a feeling inside someone's head

I'm.one of the ones now who GG refuse to talk to after I emailed them . Needless to say the responses didnt answer any questions.

They are just trolling us now

ChattyLion · 26/04/2019 09:24

The brass fucking neck on them.. unbelievable.

Just in case anyone new to these parts missed the details of Girl Guiding UK’s actual, current position on the rights of girls:

Also

And

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3204066-remember-the-girlguides-thread-we-have-our-first-success

(The success was newspaper coverage about the safeguarding concerns, which was great and Flowers to those involved, but GGUK still don't seem to have changed their policy, despite the relevant Chief Exec moving on.)

I also found this bit quite interesting under the Research heading. Can't believe things are the same for my daughters as they were for me!:

"Girls and young women aged 14-25 told us sexual harassment and tackling unhealthy relationships are their top priorities for the future.

15,800 girls aged 10-14 named not being able to do the same things as boys as the most unfair thing about being a girl today."

Girls want an equal world. They want an end to the gender stereotypes...

Want an end to stereo types but then admit boys who perform those stereotypes and expect them to be considered girls.

And reject girls that reject the feminine gender stereotypes, because they are now 'boys'.

Hmm
