Vancouver rape crisis denied funding

Apologies if there has been a thread on this started already, I’ve been lurking and reading and learning and reading, I’ve learned so much from you all! However I’m getting angrier and angrier. Then I fell on this today,
From what I understand, A rape crisis centre in Vancouver has been denied funding as they refuse to change their policy on allowing male bodied persons access to their centres.
I can’t stop thinking of those women in desperate need who may now have no safe place for refuge.

Transactivists have gone after this shelter since the 90s. They dragged it through all the courts in Canada for 12 years before finally losing.

Yeah, how can you not be angry.

Really that long, I had no idea, I’m quite proud they’ve kept their stance. I’m just at the tip of the iceberg with it all. I’m just utterly astounded every day at the continued erasure.

On a personal level for me, I refer lots of women to rape crisis support and domestic abuse shelters/support as part of my job. 90% of the time I’m asked by our women if there will be men there. I always say no. It’s just hit me that I can’t really make that promise to them anymore. That is what I find so soul destroying.

Again, men showing how much they hate women.

Misogyny is so strongly ingrained in us all you can't actually see it most of the time. Seeing it is a very painful process because you realise deep down how much people like MO really do hate women with a passion, but you supported them before you realised this.

Confronting the fact you too are part of a campaign of hatred against women is easier to ignore / delay than it is to accept.

Has everyone seen the fair Morgane’s Foundation is recruiting for help to develop stalking software to allow them to track disbelievers, and gather evidence from multiple social platforms (clearly in order to prosecute)?
After MO went after the woman with the biology placard at the march, this has obviously been a dream. Now being put into action by a Foundation that has garnered political support.
Stalking, doxxing and prosecuting women supported by government.
I can’t link because I’m on a 7 day twitter ban for posting SF’s own article about being a man who wears make up on LOJ’s congratulatory thread. And I know it’s technically possible to subvert the ban, but twitter really isn’t all that important to me.

I only saw the VRR vote yesterday on fb when it was too late. MO will be chuffed to ribbons that the uppity women will be controlled.

Lymphy Have you had any contact with Fair Play For Women? They try to collect evidence of the kind you mention and do much excellent research work. Info will be kept completely confidential.

How devoid of empathy must they be to try to force a rape crisis centre to admit male people, then because they say no actively campaign against said rape crisis centre. They know how much the presence of a male person would affect a lot of the service users, but they just do not care one bit. Could put all the campaigning effort into getting trans rape crisis centres. But no, just attempt to colonise womens services, and if that does not work, just get rid of womens services altogether. Because THAt helps transpeople eh..removing womens services. It will be a negative affect on transmen, who may need access to such a service.
