Vancouver rape crisis denied funding

Apologies if there has been a thread on this started already, I’ve been lurking and reading and learning and reading, I’ve learned so much from you all! However I’m getting angrier and angrier. Then I fell on this today,
From what I understand, A rape crisis centre in Vancouver has been denied funding as they refuse to change their policy on allowing male bodied persons access to their centres.
I can’t stop thinking of those women in desperate need who may now have no safe place for refuge.

A fair number of us have donated twice today, just to be able to name the Ogre as the 'honoured' one.

I am doing it now. I'm absolutely disgusted that anyone would think it's a good thing to deny support to women who've been horribly traumatised. Beyond the pale.

So angry about this. What the hell is going on in Canada.....so much for liberal politics. Donation following.

We've been sharing the link like crazy on Twitter. It's gathered a lot of support and people are pledging money that would have gone to Comic Relief. People are incensed.

I had a lovely message from a Canadian student who was too scared to speak out but has donated to the shelter instead.

Since Comic Relief support Allsorts then Vancouver rape relief can have my donation.

I honestly didn't think I could get past my peak trans moment but the vile disgusting MO has peaked me again and again.

How narcissistic do you have to be to deny a RAPE shelter funds because they don't ascribe to your ideology. Absolute disgrace!!!!!

Oh I didn't even realise I'd missed it. I feel irrationally pleased by that.

The absolute disgrace of what's going on in Canada. Can anyone honestly look at TRAs cutting this funding to Vancouver Rape Relief and claim self-ID has not had a negative impact on women over there?

I visited this city last year. It's certainly going out of it's easy to be VERY pro-trans. Many toilets are just labelled with or without urinals now. I remember talking to my friends over there about some of my doubts; it didn't go down well.

Why couldn't the ogre have made this much effort to create a much needed specialist centre for transwomen victims of sexual violence?

It would be much better placed to offer a tailored service to the unique needs of transwomen who have been genuinely abused and traumatised rather than being used by the cissy fetish agp type who wants to use the women's shelter and counsellors as a sort of face to face sex line to inflict his wank fantasies on.

Imagine being a rape counsellor and having to sit and listen sympathetically to the likes of Stefonknee Wolscht regaling you with tales of his "child abuse" at the hands of his "father".

Fuck that.
