I remember that ad and the actor playing the politician. Whittakers have always been sharp in their advertising.

Anyway here is the Breakfast TV show discussion on the new coconut ice chocolate. I won't comment, except to say, go Daniel!

arsefeatures · 20/02/2019 08:58

feelingverylazytoday. I can't tell either....?

Oldermum156 · 20/02/2019 15:36

Gender reveal parties are silly, but a popular trend and silly fluff not worth getting bent out of shape about. They will be the early 2000s version of the 70s pet rock.
How are you supposed to know if your unborn child is going to be gender fluid lol? Oh right it's a fantasy so there is no science behind it and you can't tell

Also lol at 2% of children are intersex. It's far less than 1% www.isna.org/faq/frequency

SarahCarer · 20/02/2019 16:55

Gender reveal parties are silly, but a popular trend and silly fluff not worth getting bent out of shape about. Personally I do get very bent out of shape about the newly increased obsession with gender and gender reveal parties contribute to it. It is all part of the genderist ideological claptrap that is massively contributing to a renewed and increased sexism. The consequences of all this guff include toxic masculinity, male suicide, sexual harassment, boys underperformance at school, increased gender dysphoria particularly among autistic people, worsening lesbophobia. Transgender ideology wouldn't have anything like the traction it has if it wasn't for the ridiculous and outdated stereotypes already being peddled again and again and again.

slipperywhensparticus · 20/02/2019 18:27

Sarah its personal choice we should not be policing how people have fun in a legal and safe way

SparkiePolastri · 20/02/2019 19:05

I don't think Sarah's 'policing' anyone. Just expressing a valid opinion.

I mean, I agree - the ubiquitousness of gender stereotypes (it wasn't like this when I was young in the 80s) is causing real problems for men, women and trans.

slipperywhensparticus · 20/02/2019 19:07

Its fucking chocolate

PencilsInSpace · 20/02/2019 19:23

I agree SarahCarer, it's just not clear why they've picked on this particular confectionary company when there's a vast industry built on this bullshit.

It's also not clear why, when we've been complaining about increasingly rigid genderism for ages because it's bad for girls, boys, women and men - and have been ignored, it's suddenly newsworthy because trans / NB / queer 'folk' are upset.

It reminds me a bit of how women are ignored when we say drag is offensive but it's taken seriously when trans say it's offensive.

I’m confused, is coconut ice ice cream, or is it just gooey stuff? Either way it sounds minging TBH. If it is just gooey stuff then it’s inaccurately named gooey stuff as well, which just makes it worse.

Whatisthisfuckery · 20/02/2019 19:39

Mind you having said that, words don’t mean anything anymore, so I’m not surprised.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/02/2019 19:43

It's not ice cream, but my recollection is that it's not gooey either (the real thing, not this white chocolate imposter).

I'm not sure why it's called 'ice' - maybe if it's not coloured it looks a bit like blocks of ice?

Coconut pyramids are usually more comical than pyramidal too, come to think. Coconut milk isn't milk.

Illyria47 · 20/02/2019 19:49

Daniel, you are a Prince.

SparkiePolastri · 20/02/2019 21:04

It's chocolate.

Whittaker's make all sorts of different chocolates - loads of traditional types (dark, milk, white, coconut rough, caramel, fruit and nut, etc, etc). They also do an artisanal range - local fruit (HB apples, Black Doris plums), sea salt - all sorts.

And then every now and again, they produce slightly whacky, limited edition flavours - usually with a real Kiwi twist - Jellytip, L&P, K-bars. These won't mean anything to you, but there's a real nostalgia in these flavours for Kiwis.

This is just another limited edition flavour.

It's still just chocolate.

Whatisthisfuckery · 20/02/2019 21:04

Pyramint, now there was an accurately named confectionary. Delicious too. Even the Walnut Whip had a ring of truth to it. The world has gone mad. I had a Topic a few months ago and I didn’t get any hazelnuts in my first two bites, and they were big bites as well. I was not impressed.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/02/2019 21:25

I had a Cadbury's whole nut which also did not have a hazelnut in every bite - or even piece.

The Whittaker's range looks good.

reallyanotherone · 20/02/2019 21:26

Coconut ice is not chocolate.

Don’t give a fuck what colour it is, if it’s cocoa based they are WRONG!!

www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2799/coconut-ice-squares

That is coconut ice.

Pyramint! Haven’t thought of those for years. Used to get one every christmas in my stocking. Have they gone now? Sad

SparkiePolastri · 20/02/2019 21:57

Don’t give a fuck what colour it is, if it’s cocoa based they are WRONG!!

It's coconut ice-flavoured white chocolate.

Yell all you want, but it is what it is! They've made it, it's on the shelves and people are eating it.

thirdfiddle · 20/02/2019 22:06

Whoever was trying to sow discord in GC ranks might have hit the jackpot with coconut ice chocolate. Perhaps they should try involving marmite in the discussion next.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/02/2019 22:56

Perhaps they should try involving marmite in the discussion next.

Or would it be Vegemite in NZ, like oz?

Whatisthisfuckery · 20/02/2019 23:00

I think we’ve enough discord with the banana weetabix thank you.

SparkiePolastri · 20/02/2019 23:30

Definitely marmite. Wink

It is a better different recipe from the UK, though.

FeministCat · 21/02/2019 13:36

White chocolate isn’t chocolate either...

SparkiePolastri · 23/02/2019 03:20

Everything wrong in our society can be taken back to Whittaker's. Grin

That is funny, such a kiwi accent too.
