We have to admit, this did not go as planned.

@BernardBlacksWineIcelolly I JUST posted that on another thread - seems like this is happening now.

WH1SPERS · 01/02/2019 14:33

We see you, poster with horrible username.

ChewyLouie · 01/02/2019 14:39

Rufus that’s why my invites are dwindling then- I start grimacing and rolling up my sleeves at the merest hint of a do 😂

LangCleg · 01/02/2019 15:05

I expect Posie will continue to do exactly as she pleases and won't be up at night worrying about "us" - who is "us", by the way.

This seems to be Posie's MO and something that singles her out for either praise or condemnation, depending on the bias of the observer.

Stupid thread and extremely transparent.

ADropofReality · 01/02/2019 15:17

She’s hobnobbing with a bunch of homophobic, misogynistic, religious wingnuts who are a far worse threat to women’s rights and with more political wherewithal to effect devastating rollbacks to those rights than the TRAs.

Er, no. FOTTFSOF. It's not "religious wingnuts" who want to put anyone with a penis who "declares" they're a woman into women's prisons and refuges.

Don't be silly, op

Juells · 01/02/2019 15:49

ChewyLouie
Bundle - we used to call it a ‘ do’ and stand around in a circle to make sure neither side tried to skulk off.

We called it 'a diggin' match'. The area I come from in Ireland was notorious in the 19th C for faction fights, which were pre-arranged pitched battles. When I was in school we used to do a juvenile version of those fights, arranging time and place for the two sides to meet. It would be children from one area of the town against another area. Classy, we were Grin

Is this what certain people are trying to ensure, a do between feminists, overseen by shit stirrers .... hmmm ?

Seems that way. And Posie is the hate figure because she's effective and people like her and she looks like a woman.

catkind · 01/02/2019 15:50

I think there's some stirring going on here. Not going to work.

Frankly, Americans tend to like audacity. What looks like rudeness in England looks like boldness in the US. She smashed through a very thick wall of silence in the US, a wall being imposed by powerful and wealthy interests. That takes guts. Americans like guts.

If you all don't want Posie, we'll take her.

Posie, if you're reading this, my suggestion to you is that you look into engaging American talent agency representation.

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 01/02/2019 16:36

Such a horrible username

PotholePalace · 01/02/2019 16:40

Posie's doing a good job of supporting feminism. Other people are doing a good job of supporting feminism. I am grateful to them all.

CamillasTampon · 01/02/2019 17:58

Woooh. Well that's the last time I post after last drinks at the pub, I'll give you the tip.

It has always been my impression that PP started off as a poster on Mumsnet, and as somebody who reads this board most days I was left wondering what she would make of the discussion back here this past week. I think the people who have said she wouldn't give a toss are probably right, and I must admit that's largely why I think she's fabulous.

In that spirit, I won't bother defending my username other than to say that my sense of humor is the gallows kind, but I am no TRA.

In any case, this subject has probably been done to death.

Posie moved on from caring what posters on MN think some time ago, I reckon

She gets a lot of support here, but haterz will hate (yawn)

ConfessionalProfessional · 01/02/2019 18:15

I love Posie Parker. She is courageous and entertaining.

lenaperkins · 01/02/2019 18:36

My take? I am huge admirers of lots of GC women. Yes, Julie Bindel, Jean ... pretty much all of them. Including Posie, Venice etc. BUT I thought A Woman’s Place was correct to distance themselves from P after the accusations of racism. Posie certainly says and does things I wouldn’t. However, truthfully, I didn’t think her and Julia taking that trans lobbyist to task was particularly terrible, certainly compared to TRAs behaviour in the past.

I admire Joani for her work too, but let’s all of us move on a little? Stop fanning the flames. Keep to the task in hand. Jean wrote a blog distancing herself, ok her prerogative. Joani is furious, well actually, this anger and discord is more dangerous than the original blog. And Julie, Rosa etc, you’ve stated your position. That’s it. Let’s stop giving Emily G et al their pound of flesh.

Thank you Grin

MsMcWoodle · 01/02/2019 21:20

If you are english - and were at the pub at 11.20 - well you have more stamina than me.

CamillasTampon · 01/02/2019 23:04
