This case sounds absolutely horrific

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/jan/10/bristol-grime-artist-solo-45-andy-anokye-on-trial-for-22-rapes

He is pleading not guilty, I'm guessing his defence is going to be that these 4 women really loved being waterboarded, sprayed with bleach and threatened with shooting. Sad

Sickening.

One can only hope that the strength of the investigation I.e. that the separate women's stories seem to tie together his behaviors will be enough to convince a jury of his guilt.

Coupled with his narcissistic need to record his sexual behavior.

Very brave woman for stepping forward to raise the complaint against him. I can only imagine how terrified/intimidated the other 3 women were with his threats not to report him.

Waterboarding...ffs wtaf.

  1. He's not definitely going to prison
  2. Rape's not OK whether in prison man on man or anywhere else
  3. I would rather if found guilty he is locked up until he is no longer a threat to women and if that's forever then so be it. This eye for an eye stuff is not the way to go about things

There is absolutely no guarantee he'll go to prison or that if he does it will be for long enough (see warboys). I suspect that there is more chance of a guilty verdict as he's not a white accountant who's a member of the PTA or whatever.

bluescreen · 11/01/2019 10:04

Horsewithnoname
That's a horrific thing to say.

NothingOnTellyAgain
Totally agree.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 11/01/2019 10:25

I dont' really care about him tbh.

Eye for an eye > wishing harm > though understandable is not a good approach.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 11/01/2019 10:27

I suppose another point is that in prison this guy is more likely to be picking on and possibly assaulting (sexually) other more vulnerable prisoners
That getting atatcked himself
I mean who knows
Violence of any type is unacceptable in prison.

Horsewithnomane · 11/01/2019 13:01

Yeah, I'm sorry.

Can I just say to those people who did not see my deleted post, that I did not say that he should be raped. I do not think anyone should. Nevertheless I sincerely apologise to anyone who did read my angrily and badly worded post. Not been a member that long and I really like it here. I feel as tho' I have come home.

This is the first time I have had anything deleted as far as I know; I will obviously do my best to make it the last.

MsMcWoodle · 11/01/2019 13:08

I didn't see it Horse - but it's easy to get angry in these cases.

Popchyk · 11/01/2019 13:09

Don't worry about it, Horse.

We all get upset about things. That case is absolutely horrifying.

Glad you feel at home here.

From the article, the Prosecutor said:

“He will assert that the sexual conduct with each of them was at all times consensual and there was never any occasion where he did anything with them or to them to which they were not consenting".

ChattyLion · 11/01/2019 13:49

Jesus Christ. There are just no words. Flowers to the women involved.

Absolutely nobody consents to being abused and threatened like that. What an appalling cynical defence to try.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 11/01/2019 13:56

Thing is in this case the police have watched the videos on his PC and on the basis of what they have seen, have been able to ideinfity 3 more women to talk to ie what they saw was not indicative of happy consensual sex.

Of course there may have been more women in the flims, just the police couldn't tell who they were.

Anyone reading this who likes to believe that women "cry rape" the whole time over consensual sex, and espeically when a sleb is involved,
Wonder what their explanation is for only 1 (of at least 4) women going to the police.
Actually we know what it is - they will agree with the man and his defence that as they didn't report it they must have been into it.
As for the one who reported > sleb money grabbing.
See - damned if you do and damned if you don't, like when they used to tie women up and chuck them in the water to see. There's no win for women with this system, in the general perception of a certain tranche of the public / socieety.

I don't think I've read much as horrific as this

Fuck, that's horrific reading

IamFrauBlucher · 15/01/2019 00:23

“Some of the best sex we’ve had is when I’m raping you.”

We've had? Jesus wept.

I hope they remain strong. Giving evidence, facing him, the jury hearing and seeing these films.

Thanks
Purplewithgreenspots · 16/01/2019 07:16

I have nothing to say beyond I’m absolutely horrified. Flowers to those poor women and any other victims he has. I hope court isn’t too hard for you.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 17/01/2019 07:20

He actually says he's raping them. If he gets off with a Not Guilty verdict then there is no hope for anyone.

indieshuffle · 17/01/2019 07:32

This is so incredibly awful. I heard it reported on BBC new the other week and the reporters comment after recounting the charges/ claims was that "he obviously pleads not guilty".

Well, yes, not many people confess even with overwhelming evidence against them so that may be obvious, but to me there was something in the reporters tone/speech that sounded like "of course he is pleading not guilty because this is just so extreme and unbelievable" Angry

How can someone try and kid themselves, let alone anyone else, women consent to that?

What kind of person wants to do that to someone else- even if they are consenting (which I don't think is possible).

QuentinWinters · 17/01/2019 18:00

Only read this if you have a strong stomach
www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/live-solo-45-rape-trial-2408819

The defence says that "The fact that robust or rough sex may have been a feature of Andy Anokye’s relationships does not make that non-consensual."

I thought the law was that a person couldn't consent to harm, seems that only applies to men Angry

" The first complainant used code words “did you get him a present?”, on the phone to her mum, indicating she was being held against her will, and police were called in, the court was told."

Sad So sad that women know they need to have a code word like this. Well done to the complainant and her mum.
